A Prospective Observational Study On Role Of Intraoperative Renal & Muscle Oxygen Saturation On Post-Operative Serum Creatinine Level In Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery On Cardiopulmonary Bypass, Bhakti Banerjee, Haripada Das, Lini Srivastava, Snigdha . Pramanik, Diptimay Majumder

Journal of the Saudi Heart Association

Objective Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy (NIRS), can be used to monitor renal tissue oxygenation (SrO2), as well as thenar muscle oxygenation (SmO2). In this study, we have examined the ability of SrO2 and SmO2 in predicting cardiac surgery related change in serum creatinine level (ΔsCr) and explored any correlation between these two parameters.

Methods This study included 55 adult patients (18 to 60 years), who were scheduled for elective cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), having no pre-existing renal impairment, with skin-to-kidney depth ofSmO2, preoperatively. ΔsCr was investigated at 24, 48 and 72 hours post-operatively. Relative thresholds of SrO2 and SmO2 …

Confidence In The Pompeian Fullo, Tori Nielsen Dec 2025

Confidence In The Pompeian Fullo, Tori Nielsen

Studia Antiqua

Many scholars have discussed a curious graffito parodying the Aeneid found outside of a Pompeian fullonica, but few have taken into account its visual and written context. I synthesize previous scholarship and consider additional neighboring graffiti and visual elements in order to more thoroughly reconstruct the ideas conveyed about fullers in this space. The outer wall celebrates fullers in cultural, social, and fulling matters, thus bolstering their community’s confidence in them.

Pheonix Imagery In Early Christian Art, Annie Spach Dec 2025

Pheonix Imagery In Early Christian Art, Annie Spach

Studia Antiqua

In Early Christianity, often Christians used popular symbols that would point back to greater truths taught in their new faith. This paper discusses how early Christians followed his council through the use of the imperial representation of the phoenix rather than the common representation, highlighting their belief in resurrection, the majesty of Christ and their hope for eternal life given to all believers, while also speaking to a greater tradition outside of Christianity. The continued use of the phoenix as a symbol of resurrection, renewal, immortality and eternal life in the paradise of God is discussed, as well as the …

Perspectives On Cognitive Psychology In Ktu 1.40: Moral Implications And Prescribed Emotional Responses To Foster Unity, Richard Jarvis Iii

Studia Antiqua

This paper examines the Ugaritic ritual text KTU 1.40 through the framework of cognitive psychology to explore its moral implications and prescribed emotional responses. While earlier scholarship has debated whether this ritual carried moral weight, my analysis demonstrates that it prescribes the removal or amelioration of five moral emotions—disgust, fear, anger, empathy, and a sense of justice—to promote unity within the community of Ugarit. Building on Thomas Kazen’s approach and Gregorio del Olmo Lete’s translation, this study argues that the repeated structure and inclusive nature of KTU 1.40 reflect an intentional effort to bridge emotional divides among the many groups …

Gardens Of Rebirth: Fertility And The Afterlife In The Garden Painting From The Tomb Of Nebamun, Aleeta Day

Studia Antiqua

One of the most important aspects of Egyptian art is the emphasis on the eternal and the afterlife. Aspects of real gardens in ancient Egypt as well as artistic depictions of them reflect these values through the cosmological symbolism of life-giving water and plants frequently cultivated in these gardens. These garden depictions were seen as a way to carry their current lifestyle into the afterlife with them. This paper will discuss the garden painting from the 18th Dynasty tomb of Nebamun located in the Theban necropolis. It will briefly discuss methods of Egyptian painting and the medium by which the …

Barriers To Neglected Tropical Disease Service Accessibility: Challenges And Solutions For Reaching Mobile And Migrant Populations In Uganda., Victor Lambongang, Wuraola R. Awosan

Montview Journal of Research & Scholarship

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) remain a significant public health challenge in Uganda, disproportionately affecting mobile and migrant populations, including refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and cross-border workers. Despite ongoing efforts by the Ugandan government and global health organizations, these populations face barriers to accessing NTD services, including geographic inaccessibility, weak healthcare infrastructure, socio-cultural misconceptions, and policy gaps. These challenges hinder early diagnosis, treatment adherence, and prevention efforts, leading to increased disease burden and reinfection risks in high-mobility settings. This study aims to identify barriers to NTD service accessibility among migrant populations in Uganda and propose evidence-based solutions to improve healthcare …

Journal of Contemporary Water Research and Education

In the Great Lakes region, harmful algal blooms (HABs) are known cyanobacterial blooms that pose significant public health, environmental, and socio-economic risks. Risk information related to HABs is primarily communicated through state and local government agencies; however, the effectiveness of these communication strategies and how local stakeholders are learning about such risks remains unclear. The objective of this study is to examine how to effectively communicate HABs risks and understand public risk perceptions of HABs-related risks during recreational lake use in Michigan. Guided by the social amplification of risk framework, this qualitative study conducted fieldwork in 2021, including 27 semi-structured …

Multimedia content has become a necessary part of our daily lives in many domains, including medical imaging, surveillance, and entertainment. Among all multimedia categories, video is mainly critical because of its high content density and large size. For that, ensuring the security of video has become a necessity for transmission and storage. This paper proposed an enhancement to the Chacha algorithm integration with a hybrid chaotic map for generating keys to secure video. The main motivation for the selection ChaCha algorithm is that it is fast, simple, and appropriate for widespread applications, whereas the motivation for using chaos is to …

An Exception To Prove The Rule: Rebutting The Presumption Of A Consistent And Definitive Construction, Miles C. Skedsvold

Mercer Law Review

Because the State of Georgia has had ten constitutions since declaring independence from Great Britain, the history of those prior constitutions has a lot to do with understanding the Constitution in force today. In particular, when a provision is carried forward from one constitution to the next without material change, the Supreme Court of Georgia’s decisions interpreting that provision under an earlier constitution can be a key piece of evidence for understanding its meaning in the later one.

The Supreme Court of Georgia calls this piece of the historical inquiry the presumption of a consistent and definitive construction: the provision …

Georgia's Best Friend, Harold D. Melton

Mercer Law Review

“Chief Justice Michael Boggs is one of my very best friends in life,” say people all over the great State of Georgia, including me. Rare is the man who has such a clear sense of purpose and who derives so much joy in being a true friend to the people around him. And by that, I refer to his tight-knit inner circle and the broader community at large: his wife, his immediate family, his extended family, his local community, his legal community, and also the people who make Georgia their home.

The Right To Keep And Bear Arms In Georgia, John R. Monroe Dec 2025

The Right To Keep And Bear Arms In Georgia, John R. Monroe

Mercer Law Review

This Article provides a survey of the right to keep and bear arms in Georgia as it has developed from colonial times to the present. While this Article is not about the Second Amendment, references to that amendment cannot be avoided because the two are intertwined.

The Article follows Georgia’s right to keep and bear arms in roughly chronological order, where discreet periods in history can be seen to have heavy influence on laws impacting the right to keep and bear arms. These periods include Colonial, Antebellum, Civil War years, Reconstruction and late nineteenth century, early twentieth century, and finally …
