Level Of Consensus For A Forward-Thinking Cyberterrorism Model, Latreecia P. C. Folkes
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Cyberterrorism jeopardizes national security and fiscal systems and its potential gains and risks to public safety. U.S. corporate and government leaders must understand the ineffective collaboration to mitigate cyberterrorism risks. The purpose of this qualitative e-Delphi study was to develop information that may reveal a consensus among a panel of corporate cybersecurity experts as to the elements of an appropriate and feasible forward-looking collaborative model between U.S. corporate and government leaders for mitigating the risks of cyberterrorism. The research questions were used to gather experts’ perceptions on the solutions or deterrents to collaboration across the public and private sectors. Pruitt-Mentle’s …

Utilizing qualitative methods, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with practitioners from various correctional settings, emphasizing their perceptions of DBT's efficacy, adaptation strategies to meet the cultural and institutional demands of their unique environments, and resultant behavioral outcomes for incarcerated individuals. Thematic analysis revealed key challenges, including resource limitations, institutional resistance, and the necessity for extensive cultural adaptations of therapeutic techniques. Participants highlighted …

Ca Harmful Algae Risk Mapping (C-Harm), Clarissa Anderson
Benefits of Ocean Observing Catalog (BOOC)
The CA-Harmful Algae Risk Mapping (C-HARM) system generates predictions of harmful algal bloom (HAB) conditions in California and Southern Oregon coastal waters through a combination of 1) real-time circulation models that predict the ocean physics, i.e. the West Coast Operational Forecast System (WCOFS), 2) satellite remote-sensing data of the ocean “color” and chlorophyll patterns, and 3) statistical models for predicting bloom and toxin likelihoods. These predictions are generated daily to provide a forecast of where you might encounter a Pseudo-nitzschia bloom and/or domoic acid event in the next one to three days.

How does the system balance the urgency to hold young offenders accountable while providing the necessary support to foster their rehabilitation? Together, we must explore these challenges to pave the way for a more even-handed and effective juvenile justice system that prioritizes the future of our youth. As legal frameworks intersect with adolescent growth, three key ethical domains emerge: ensuring developmental appropriateness, upholding fair treatment, …

Preventing Carbon Emissions With Imaging-Based Civil Infrastructure Assessment And Evaluation, Thomas Schumacher
Preventing Carbon Emissions With Imaging-Based Civil Infrastructure Assessment And Evaluation, Thomas Schumacher
PSU Transportation Seminars
For concrete bridges without existing plans, simplified and highly conservative load rating (structural evaluation) methods may be used, which can lead to unnecessary load restrictions, unjustifiable strengthening, or in the worst case, preventable replacements. Avoiding these outcomes not only saves money but it prevents carbon emissions from longer travel and construction activities and resources associated with replacement.
This presentation discusses a case study of a prestressed concrete bridge that required a load rating, and for which no plans existed. Imaging and image fusion using radar and ultrasonic measurements taken from the top and bottom of the slab were performed to …

Corporate Manslaughter In India: Bridging Legal Gaps With Governance Mechanisms, Ruth Vaiphei Dr.
National Law School Business Law Review
Many countries, including India, are dealing with the tragic reality of workplace fatalities which constitute corporate manslaughter. In recent years, there has been increased concern about the snowballing incidence of fatalities in Indian workplaces, emphasising the critical need for effective preventive measures. Corporate negligence and a lack of responsibility have emerged as major contributing factors to workplace fatalities. Furthermore, corporate entities, frequently motivated by profit, may prioritise productivity over safety, resulting in dangerous working conditions and deadly incidents. In response to these problems, regulatory supervision and corporate governance procedures are critical for maintaining worker safety and well-being. The goal of …

A Constitutional Mandate To Adopt Avs, Kevin Frazier
A Constitutional Mandate To Adopt Avs, Kevin Frazier
Washington and Lee Law Review Online
The rapid advancement of autonomous vehicle (“AV”) technology presents a unique opportunity to enhance public safety by drastically reducing road fatalities. Despite significant private sector investment and demonstrated improvements in AV performance, public adoption and integration remain hindered by regulatory gaps and societal skepticism. This Article argues that the federal government has an affirmative obligation, rooted in the doctrine of a right to effective government, to champion the adoption of technologies like AVs that meaningfully promote the general welfare.
Drawing on the Preamble’s mandate to advance the general welfare and lessons from the transition from the Articles of Confederation to …

A Law Enforcement Leader's Response To Human Trafficking, Samuel Whitebear
A Law Enforcement Leader's Response To Human Trafficking, Samuel Whitebear
Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Leadership
Law enforcement leaders must consider how their agency can effectively investigate human trafficking in their jurisdiction. These leaders are tasked with creating an agency culture that prioritizes ethical decision making, which directly affects variables such as officer training and officer treatment of trafficking victims during investigations. Ethically sound decision making has rewards, such as inspiring other leaders to act in a similar fashion. Human trafficking training with an emphasis on the thought-behavior link will enable officers to understand the motivations of both traffickers and victims. Untrained officers rely on biases and assumptions when interacting with sex workers. This is because …
