Exploring Older Adults’ Enhanced Activities Of Daily Living, Hye Soo Lee, Varitnan Hattakitjamroen, Hannah Morrow, Michael Bixter, Tracy Mitzner, Laura Payne, Wendy Rogers
Department of Psychology Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
The concept of Enhanced Activities of Daily Living (EADL) recognizes that older adults engage in activities that go beyond the basic and instrumental ADLs. EADLs contribute to health, well-being, and social engagement, which are critical for successful aging. However, they are understudied using the ADL framework, including what older adults consider EADLs. We conducted an online survey wherein participants chose four EADLs from 31 activities (e.g., arts and crafts, working, hiking) developed based on the literature and prior interviews. Then, they rated their satisfaction and challenges for each activity (1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree). The final …

Just like leveling up in a game, dating has transcended the physical world into the realm of multiplayer games where individuals are able to communicate and interact with one another within the virtual third space, the magic circle–the boundary that separates life from play. Within these immersive environments, players create shared experiences that often extend beyond the screen, blurring the line between in-game interactions and real-life emotions. This blurring can lead to emotional spillovers and identity challenges as players navigate the complexities of digital intimacy in world and relationship formation. To define the fluidity of the magic circle, the study …

Investigating The Role Of Cornichon-Homolog 3 (Cnih3) In Opioid Use, Contributing Risk Factors, And Associated Neural Substrates, Tania Lintz
Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations
Opioid misuse remains rampant as potent synthetic opioids such as fentanyl flood the market. Large-scale genetic tools like the GWAS identify previously unrecognized targets and biomarkers in opioid misuse with the hopes of combating the opioid epidemic and opioid use disorder (OUD). One such target is the AMPA receptor (AMPAR) auxiliary protein Cornichon Homolog-3 (CNIH3), which determines AMPAR subunit composition and kinetics. Though CNIH3 was identified as a gene of interest in OUD, its role in opioid use and accompanying risk factors has not been studied. Using mice with a CNIH3 deletion, we assess the role of CNIH3 in risk …

Adapting To Price Fluctuations: A Case Study Of Street And Market Vendors In Tarlac City, Gavie A. Mariñas, Roselyn V. Magapuro, Ivan Karlo S. Pating
Sinaya: A Philippine Journal for Senior High School Teachers and Students
This study examined the experiences and adaptive strategies of vendors in response to price fluctuations using a qualitative case study approach. Focusing on a bounded case of six purposively selected street and market vendors, the study identified patterns of resilience, negotiation, and vulnerability by emphasizing how vendors deal with uncertainty in a fluctuating economic environment. One of the most significant findings was a considerable drop in sales across vendors following price increases, resulting in fewer client visits. Despite their resourcefulness, vendors have challenges due to limited government assistance, which frequently forces them to rely primarily on their own abilities. Based …

A Study Of Perceptions, Readiness, Benefits, And Barriers Related To Exoskeleton Adoption In New Jersey’S Warehousing Sector, Terry Asante
Theses
The warehousing industry in New Jersey remains a vital component of the region's logistics network, employing more than 200,000 workers who routinely engage in lifting, bending, overhead reaching, and other physically demanding activities. These exposures contribute to musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) rates that exceed national averages, particularly affecting the low back and shoulders. Nationally, MSDs account for an estimated $420 billion in combined direct and indirect costs each year, underscoring the need for interventions that can effectively reduce biomechanical strain. Industrial exoskeletons have emerged as a potential solution, with prior research demonstrating reductions in muscle activation, perceived exertion, and fatigue during …

The learning process is strongly influenced by student motivation, which plays an important role in determining instructional effectiveness. Learning methods that tend to be monotonous, such as lectures or excessive assignments, may negatively affect students’ understanding. Therefore, more interactive and enjoyable approaches are needed to improve student participation and learning outcomes. One model that can be applied is game-based learning, such as Teams Games Tournament (TGT). This study developed instructional materials using the Design Thinking method, which considers emotional, aesthetic, and interaction-related aspects between the system and its users. The main objective was to develop the Domino Adventure game medium …

Journal of Innovation and Teacher Professionalism
This study aimed to develop e-learning media for Informatics using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A pretest–posttest design was used to measure improvement in student learning outcomes before and after the use of the e-learning medium. First, a learning-needs analysis was conducted to determine the objectives and content to be integrated into the e-learning module. The module was then developed systematically and implemented in the classroom with students serving as trial participants. Effectiveness was measured by comparing students’ pretest and posttest results. The findings showed a significant increase in student achievement, …

The Concept Of Law In Biopower Duaa Nassar And Amer Shatara, Duaa Nassar, Amer Shatara
Journal of Arts and Social Sciences
The study aims to reveal the transformation of the concept of law in biopower, and the impact of this transformation on the formation of society. According to the perceptions of the French philosopher Michel Foucault, the concept of the norm emerged as an alternative to law, as the concept of law was transformed from a set of controls for the behavior of the individual or “citizen” in the state, to a “standard” based on discrimination between the population based on race and gender. The study follows a key question of how the norm as a legal alternative contributes to biopower …

Governing Cyberterrorism In Indonesia: Resilience And Gaps In The Draft Cybersecurity Law (Ruu Kks 2025), Eko Setyo Utomo
Indonesia Law Review
Indonesia’s accelerating digital transformation and persistent terrorist threats expose both resilience gains and governance gaps in its cybersecurity framework. This article examines the Draft Law on Cybersecurity and Resilience (RUU KKS 2025), which consolidates the authority of the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) and strengthens protections for critical information infrastructure. While the bill enhances technical resilience and institutional coordination, it remains silent on cyberterrorism, leaving statutory, institutional, and international gaps. Drawing on cybersecurity theory, securitization theory, and hybrid warfare theory, the study argues that resilience without terrorism-specific provisions is strategically insufficient. Comparative analysis with the United Kingdom’s Terrorism Act, …

This study explores how Filipino Generation Z college students in Metro Manila utilize dark humor as a coping mechanism for stress management, mental health resilience, and navigating social dynamics. Drawing on a descriptive phenomenological approach, in-depth interviews with nine students aged 21 to 23 years old revealed that dark humor operates as both an emotional outlet and a cultural expression rooted in Filipino values. Themes showed that its use is mindful and context-sensitive, shaped by pakikiramdam (emotional sensitivity) and pakikipagkapwa (relational empathy), allowing participants to reframe grief, ease emotional burdens, and build intimacy within trusted circles.
