Jurnal Epidemiologi Kesehatan Indonesia
Premature birth is leading causes of neonatal mortality. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), global premature birth rates reached 9.9% in 2020, it’s rising compared to preterm birth rates in 2010. One of the risk factors for preterm birth is the mother's age, which pregnant adolescents are more at risk of giving birth to preterm babies due to physiological, psychological, and socioeconomic immaturity. This study is an analytical study with a retrospective cohort design to determine the relationship between adolescents pregnancy and preterm birth. This study was conducted in Cengkareng General Hospital West Jakarta using patient’s medical record data. …

Jurnal Epidemiologi Kesehatan Indonesia
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease with high prevalence and contributes significantly to the burden of inpatient care in Indonesia. The severity of T2DM-related hospitalization as classified under the INA-CBGs system, is an important indicator for assessing disparities in access to care and the health system’s response to vulnerable populations. This study aims to analyze the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and the severity of T2DM-related hospitalization visits based on 2023 Social Security Administering Body for Health (BPJS Health) data. This study employed a cross-sectional design using secondary data from the 2023 BPJS Health Sample Data. The unit …

Effect Of Plant Stimulants With Mixed Fertilizer On Growth And Yield Of Tomato Under Desert Conditions, Md Golap Hossain, Magdi Ali Ahmed Mousa, Samir Gamil Al-Solimani
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture
Plant stimulants improve plant growth and development by efficiently enhancing nutrient utilization for agricultural sustainability. The objective of this study was to determine the effect and optimum rates of MiZax-3 and Zif-8, on growth and yield of tomato during 2022/23 and 2023/24 growing seasons. We found a significant increase in plant height (9%), number of branches (39.5%) and number of leaves (50%) with MiZax-3+Zif-8 at low (2.5 and 5 μM) concentrations at 100% and 75% fertilizer levels during both seasons. Importantly, yield per plot with MiZax-3+Zif-8 (2.5 and 5 μM) treatments increased 64.4% and 69.7% compared to control …

The antibiotic resistance has emerged as a growing international concern affecting not only human health but also the environment, animal population, and global economy. The increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance poses a serious and escalating threat to public health. This problem is further exacerbated by the limited development of new antibiotic, high production costs, and risks about its side effects. Identifying novel antibiotic agents is crucial for managing fungal and bacterial infection. Consequently, numerous natural compound have been investigated as potential alternative therapies. Plant extracts are valuable source of bioactive compounds and represent a promising strategy to control pathogenic microorganisms. …

A Collective Micro Food Farming: Maximizing The Limited Space Of Urban Neighborhood, Arnis Rochma Harani, Fathurrahman Nur Azmi, Kelfin Ilyas Prassetyo, Cheong Peng Au-Yong
ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement
This paper examines the concept of urban farming in residential areas with limited space to provide food security while improving the environment. The practice of cultivating food crops, vegetables, fruits, or medicinal plants in small spaces such as yards, rooftops, balconies, walls, terraces, or indoor spaces is a form of domestic adaptation with significant ecological and social impacts in urban areas. This study is part of a community service program that aims to maximize limited space for food production and green space. Three phases of the activity methodology are involved in this program, including collecting spatial data to identify potential …

Strategies To Mitigate Supply Chain Disruptions In Small Restaurant Business, Aminu Hassan
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Supply chain disruptions can impact the operational capability of small restaurant businesses, thereby affecting their financial health. Some small restaurant supply chain managers lack effective strategies to manage supply chain disruptions. Grounded in Oliver and Webber’s supply chain management theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore strategies small restaurant supply chain managers use to manage supply chain disruptions. The participants were 10 small restaurant supply chain managers located in Baltimore who effectively mitigated the effects of at least one significant supply chain disruption. Data were collected using semistructured interviews and publicly available documents and reports. Through …

Chilling, freezing, and repeated freeze–thaw cycles are common meat preservation methods; however, they can alter key physicochemical properties. Comparative data across different species under standardized conditions are limited. To compare the effects of chilled storage, frozen storage, and repeated freeze–thaw cycles on pH, water-holding capacity (WHC), thaw loss, cooking loss, and drip loss in buffen (buffalo), chevon (goat), and chicken meat. Longissimus dorsi muscles from buffalo and goat, and breast meat from broiler chickens, were stored under chilled (2–4 °C), frozen (–10 to –12 °C), or repeated freeze–thaw conditions. "Measurements were performed at defined intervals of chilling, freezing and freeze …

Invasive Candidiasis In Critically Ill Patients: Fundamental Concepts And Future Directions, María Alejandra Pérez, Wesley J Hoffmann, J Christian Pérez, Max W Adelman
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Topic importance: Invasive candidiasis (IC) is a common complication in patients in ICUs. IC can be divided into bloodstream infections (candidemia) and deep-seated infections. Candida infections are associated with high mortality and longer hospital stays. Moreover, the emergence of Candida auris and other species prone to cause ICU outbreaks highlights the importance of this pathogen.
Review findings: Candidemia represents about 20% of bloodstream infections in ICU patients, whereas intraabdominal candidiasis, the most common form of deep-seated infection, predominantly affects surgical ICU patients. Regarding species distribution, Candida albicans is the most common species; however, non-albicans species have become more prevalent in …

Valorization Of Palm Oil Wastes Into Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus Hk-37) And Biogas Production, Aneth B. David, Anthony M. Mshandete
Tanzania Journal of Science
The study explored the potential of co-production of oyster mushroom Pleurotus HK-37 and biogas from palm oil waste fractions to add value and mitigate environmental impact. Nine different blends of waste fractions were subjected to mushroom production. The highest mushroom yield and biological efficiency were obtained from a blend that combined equal amounts of palm mesocarp fiber (PMF) and empty fruit bunch (EFB) waste fractions supplemented with 1% palm oil mill effluent (POME) and sediments (SD). The spent mushroom substrates (SMS) were used in biogas production, compared to fresh waste blends, biogas volume was higher across all but two treatments. …
