Simplified Direct Composite Restoration On Class Iv With Bertholdo/Riccie/Barrotte (Brb) Matrix Technique - Case Report, Alfajri I. Suwir, Wandania Farahanny

Journal of Dentomaxillofacial Science

ABSTRACT

Background: Direct composite restoration could produce restorations that look like natural teeth with a simple and quick process. Composite resin material might reconstruct teeth by accurately replicating the micro- and macrostructure, chromatic characteristics, and tooth symmetry of the original dentition. However, we still need extra instruments and the clinician's experience to get this result. This case study aims to describe a simple biomimetic technique for repairing anterior tooth defects with the Bertholdo/ Riccie/ Barrotte (BRB) matrix. Case Report: A 23-year-old man complained about a fracture of his anterior teeth. He had an accident 3 years ago. This tooth was …

Journal of Dentomaxillofacial Science

Introduction: We report a case where oral symptoms, initially suspected as adverse effects of chemoradiotherapy, evolved into systemic mucositis and dermatitis, leading to a toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) diagnosis.
Case Report: An 80-year-old man presented for conservative treatment of tongue cancer. Based on his preference, superselective intra-arterial chemoradiotherapy was chosen instead of surgery. Thirty-six days after treatment began, the patient developed a fever of 38.4°C and worsening oral mucositis (grade 3 CTCAE Ver. 4.0). Subsequently, facial dermatitis appeared and was initially diagnosed as radiation dermatitis, leading to topical steroid therapy. However, skin symptoms with blisters and erosions spread across the …

Effectiveness Of Haptic Feedback Devices In Reducing Pain Perception During Intra-Articular Corticosteroid Injections In Rural Guatemala And Kenya – A Randomized Controlled Trial, Tyler Perleberg, Alfeil Felipe, Carmen Tong, Jordan Konstanty, Gautam Desai

Student Publications

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common joint disease worldwide and a leading cause of disability, affecting most individuals by age 65 due to cartilage degradation, eburnation, osteophyte formation, and inflammation. Intra-articular corticosteroid injections (IACIs) are widely used for moderate to severe OA and are especially beneficial in low-resource areas where long-term medications and physical therapy may be inaccessible. However, IACIs can induce substantial pain and anxiety, particularly when anesthetics or imaging guidance are unavailable. Haptic feedback, such as tactile stimulation through handheld vibration devices, has demonstrated the ability to modulate pain perception in clinical settings. As a simple, low-cost method, …

Membrane Il-18 Identifies A Human Macrophage Subset With Distinct Proteomic And Functional Traits, Chiara Vitale, Marco Colonna, Et Al.

2020-Current year OA Pubs

This study contributes to the characterization of human macrophages in normal and pathological conditions such as cancer. We characterized a macrophage population expressing membrane-associated IL-18 (mIL-18) that shows peculiar proteomic, phenotypic, ultrastructural, and functional properties. mIL-18+ macrophages exhibit increased levels of key proteins involved in pathogen recognition, activation, migration, and endocytosis. They also display specialized functions in vesicle and actin filament transport and lipid metabolism, and have typical mitochondrial traits. Importantly, mIL-18+ cells dominate the peritoneal fluid of adult cancer patients and are present in the bone marrow of children with neuroblastoma. They express high levels of TREM2 but display …

Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Faculty Publications and Presentations

Bangladesh, an agriculturally reliant and climate-vulnerable country, requires real-time quantification of climatic variables, such as temperature, to sustain food security. However, the effects of spatial and temporal temperature variations on rice productivity across seasons remain underexplored. Our study addresses this gap by analyzing temperature data from 35 meteorological stations (1970-2020) using parametric and nonparametric methods. The Mann-Kendall test revealed a pronounced increase in minimum temperatures compared to maximum temperatures, particularly during the monsoon season. K-means clustering identified four seasonal station clusters, revealing that rising minimum temperatures positively influenced Aus rice yields in seven regions, while temperatures above 35 degrees C …

Landmark legislative events can shift public opinion. We conducted a longitudinal survey examining abortion attitudes before and after Dobbs v. Jackson which overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Wave 1 (N = 1,014) was conducted in June 2022, and Wave 2 (N = 792) in October-November 2022. Using bivariate analyses, we assessed people's attitudes towards the Dobbs decision and potential changes in abortion attitudes over time, across different abortion identity sub-groups (e.g. pro-life, pro-choice). Results indicate that people were informed about (90%) and disagreed (56%) with the decision, and did not report or experience a change in attitudes after the …
