A Comprehensive Study Of Integration And Alternatives For Concrete In The Construction Industry, Saee Sawlikar Dec 2025

A Comprehensive Study Of Integration And Alternatives For Concrete In The Construction Industry, Saee Sawlikar

Theses

Concrete dominates the building industry as a construction material, frequently used due to its versatile, enormous application properties and the flexibility it offers. When just traditional concrete is considered, it contributes to only 8% of the total global warming potential. However, due to its countless vast applications, it’s energy and emissions consumption is up to roughly 35% and 38% respectively when compared with other industries. The study focuses on proposing three alternative low-carbon concrete materials with modified component chemical properties with reference to concrete itself and will test if any material could replace and surpass the benefits offered by concrete …

Relationship Between Muscle Activation And Kinematic Features During Baseball Pitching, Maxwell Skene Dec 2025

Relationship Between Muscle Activation And Kinematic Features During Baseball Pitching, Maxwell Skene

Theses

Background: Baseball pitching is a biomechanically complex, high-velocity movement that places substantial demands on the upper extremity. Inefficient coordination between muscle activation and kinematic sequencing has been associated with reduced performance and increased injury risk, particularly at the shoulder and elbow. However, the integrated relationship between muscle activation patterns and three-dimensional kinematic features during pitching is not well-documented. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between throwing-arm muscle activation patterns and three-dimensional kinematic characteristics during fastball pitching, with particular emphasis on segmental accelerations, proximal–distal sequencing, and the directional structure of movement quantified using Relative Dimensional Contribution …

Bystander Interventions And Their Impact On Road Injury Outcomes: A Scoping Review, Nicholas Aveyard, George Stephen Russam, Jake Gluyas-Harris, Tim Nutbeam

Peninsula Medical School

Background: Road injury remains a leading global cause of death and disability, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) where emergency medical services (EMS) are often limited or incur prolonged response times. In many trauma cases, bystanders are the first to respond and may play a critical role in patient outcomes. While the importance of bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in cardiac arrest is well-established, the evidence regarding bystander interventions in trauma care, particularly following road injury, is less well defined. This scoping review systematically examined the prevalence, nature, and impact of bystander interventions following trauma, with particular emphasis on road …

Matter Of Mantilla V. New York City Dept. Of Hous. Preserv. & Dev. Dec 2025

Matter Of Mantilla V. New York City Dept. Of Hous. Preserv. & Dev.

All Decisions

In this CPLR article 78 proceeding, the Court of Appeals affirmed the denial of a tenant's succession rights to a deceased brother's Mitchell-Lama apartment. The landlord (HPD) found the tenant failed to prove primary residency for the required one-year period prior to the brother's death, despite being an eligible family member and listed on income affidavits. While the tenant presented some evidence like SNAP correspondence and power of attorney over the brother's bank account, the Court held the agency had a rational basis for concluding this was insufficient. The Court emphasized its deferential standard of review for administrative determinations, upholding …

Spatial Conversations: Opportunities To Share Geographic Knowledge, L. Jesse Rouse, Barbara L. Maclennan, Susan J. Bergeron, H. Franklin Lafone

Anthropology and Geography

For more than twenty years geographers have taken advantage of “new media” to share information, make connections, and expand the “spatial conversation.” As blogs opened the door for informal self-publishing and communicating about narrow, focused topic areas, geographers began to use emerging media platforms to present ideas to a broader audience, more quickly and interactively, as new data and technologies became available. Audio podcasts and videos broadened the platforms for dissemination and provide a greater level of immersion through digital media. Between the open publishing and subscription opportunities, and interaction provided through comments and social media engagement, a dialectic was …

BTB/POZ domain-containing proteins are increasingly recognized for their context-dependent roles in cancer, acting as either tumor suppressors or oncogenic drivers depending on the cancer type. Among them, the function of ankyrin repeat and BTB domain-containing protein 2 (ABTB2) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), a highly lethal malignancy, has remained unexplored. In this study, we employed comprehensive functional genomics approaches—siRNA/shRNA knockdown, CRISPR-Cas9 knockout, plasmid-based overexpression, and a Cre-LoxP transgenic mouse model—to systemically modulate ABTB2 expression in human and murine PDAC cell lines, as well as in the KPC mouse model of PDAC. Our gain- and loss-of-function studies revealed that ABTB2 plays …
