Measuring General Education Teacher Attitudes Toward Inclusion: A Quantitative Causal-Comparative Study, Melodie Segrest
Measuring General Education Teacher Attitudes Toward Inclusion: A Quantitative Causal-Comparative Study, Melodie Segrest
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this quantitative, causal-comparative study is to determine if there is a difference in general education teachers’ attitudes toward inclusion and their level of experience. Research has shown that general education teachers’ attitudes are of the utmost importance in the success or failure of inclusion practices. The number of participants sampled was 241 teachers, which exceeds the required minimum of 126 for a one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with five relatively evenly distributed groups. An online setting was determined to be the most appropriate environment for the completion of the survey for this study. The Attitudes Towards Teaching …
Childhood Trauma And Adult Psychological Disorders: A Case Study, Jessica Marie Thomas
Childhood Trauma And Adult Psychological Disorders: A Case Study, Jessica Marie Thomas
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Childhood trauma including experiences of sexual, physical and emotional abuse, neglect and exposure to violence has been widely recognized as a significant risk factor for the development of psychological disorders in adulthood. Such early life adversities can disrupt emotional, cognitive, and social development which can contribute to long-term mental health challenges. This qualitative study aimed to explore and understand how childhood trauma influenced adult psychological disorders, not only by examining direct impacts but also by identifying perceived moderating factors that shaped incarcerated individuals’ outcomes. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research investigated the lived experiences of adult incarcerated males …
A Collaborative Leadership Development Model For Classical Christian School Consortiums, Lisa Diane Smith
A Collaborative Leadership Development Model For Classical Christian School Consortiums, Lisa Diane Smith
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Over 55% of young adults in the United States have experienced some form of leadership development; however, their leadership skills are not being used within the church. Nearly 60% of those who regularly attended church during their youth are distancing themselves from it (Barna, 2023). Nonetheless, the same report suggested a link between youth who were well-integrated into a youth ministry and those who stayed active in the church. This Praxis program partnered with Redeemer Classical Academy to implement a Christ-centered leadership development initiative for its high school students. The argument supporting the Praxis program indicates that grounding students' leadership …
The Cultivation Of Resilience: A Phenomenological Study Of Music Teachers’ Experiences Teaching Children With Adverse Childhood Experiences, Angela Dawn Matthews
The Cultivation Of Resilience: A Phenomenological Study Of Music Teachers’ Experiences Teaching Children With Adverse Childhood Experiences, Angela Dawn Matthews
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This phenomenological multi-method study examines the lived experiences of music teachers in Virginia and North Carolina working with students who have Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the cultivation of resilience in music students through music ensemble participation. The researcher interviewed music teachers (n = 16) to explore experiences instructing children with ACEs. Music ensemble students (n = 66) and non-music ensemble students (n = 62) completed the ten-item version of the original 25-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, the CD-RISC 10. Research questions guiding the study were: How do children with adverse childhood experiences interact and respond in music ensembles? How do …

Generative Ai And The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, Nicole Reibe
Jesuit Higher Education: A Journal
A group of seven faculty members, the Digital Teaching Fellows (DTF), were formed in 2023 to explore issues related to generative AI at a Jesuit university in the United States. The group incorporated generative AI assignments into their courses and conducted a survey assessing students’ experiences with generative AI in the course. Drawing from both quantitative and qualitative analysis, the DTF reached two key conclusions. First, despite their reservations, students’ overall receptiveness to generative AI integration creates a fitting moment for thoughtful pedagogical innovation. Second, our findings reveal a critical gap between generative AI’s current implementation and its potential to …

The New Language: Contractual Interpretation In The Age Of Emojis, Kosi Moneke
The New Language: Contractual Interpretation In The Age Of Emojis, Kosi Moneke
Bates College Undergraduate Law Review
Since their creation in 1999, emojis have evolved from just playful visual expressions to communicative tools that are increasingly appearing in legal disputes. This paper explores emojis as mediums of legal meaning. It examines how U.S. contract law approaches emojis as evidence of assent, threat, conspiracy, and intent, and how established contractual doctrines have adapted to emojis as tools of expressive communication. Though ambiguous, this paper aims to demonstrate that emojis can be interpreted within existing contractual frameworks.
This paper is structured as follows: it situates emojis as a continuation of contract law's historical engagement with nonverbal assent. It will …

The Last Hero: Analyzing Kino’S Rock Album As A Representation Of Youth Sociopolitical Perspectives In The Late Soviet Period, Anna Meehan
The Crown: Syracuse Honors Research Journal
Viktor Robertovich Tsoi (1962-1990), co-founder, frontman, and lyricist of the band KINO, is per-haps the most beloved figure to have emerged from the Leningrad underground rock music scene of the late Soviet period. Known for his masterful lyricism and creative use of abstract themes, Tsoi remains a cultural icon in Russian-speaking communities around the world. However, the ambiguity of his lyrics, as well as the complex political history of his song “Khochu peremen!” (I Want Changes), has led these communities to ascribe a variety of political persuasions to Tsoi’s artistry and image posthumously. This paper seeks to further explore Tsoi’s …
