A Transcendental Phenomenology Study On Teacher Experiences And Perspectives On The Efficacy Of Trauma-Informed Practices In Public Schools With Students With Behavior Intervention Plans, Elaina Marie Lawrence

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand public school teachers’ lived experiences and perceptions of the efficacy of trauma-informed practices for students with Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPS) within the Desert Coral Independent School District (DCISD). Due to the complexities that trauma has on personal, social, and cognitive development, Vygotsky’s theory on the zone of proximal development (ZPD) frames this study to combine the relationship between the stages of child development, trauma, and self-determination. ZPD provides a relational model of emergent interactive agency for students with BIPs. It highlights reactions to observation, modeling, and emulating behaviors, attitudes, and emotional …

Nursing practice has evolved since its initial presentation. The 2020 pandemic played a significant role in changing nursing dynamics. Acute care nurses have become responsible for a plethora of tasks once a patient enters the doors of their facility. While education and skills training can be implemented, there are other aspects requiring greater attention. Generational differences have become more apparent in practice. Generational differences are only recently gaining attention and could use more focus in large organizations. The workforce has become a combination of Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, and Generation Z. The Silent Generation, also referred to as Veteran …

The Blessing And The Promise: Paul's Covenantal Framework As The Foundation For Galatians 3:14, Eric L. Williams Dec 2024

The Blessing And The Promise: Paul's Covenantal Framework As The Foundation For Galatians 3:14, Eric L. Williams

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

This dissertation examines the relationship between the blessing of Abraham and the promise of the Spirit in Galatians 3:14. When Paul wrote these words to the Galatians, he did not intend to communicate two distinct, bifurcated concepts. Rather, he uses the two ἵνα clauses to bring depth of understanding to a singular idea. Paul spoke of the blessing of Abraham and the promise of the Spirit in a homogeneous manner, describing one main concept from two distinct angles, much like one would describe two sides of the same coin. It is argued that Paul was able to make such connections …

The Shared Experience Of Marriage And Commitment Of Couples Who Have Been Married For Over 30 Years: Challenges And Resilience In Marriage, Rosemarie Gonzalez Dec 2024

The Shared Experience Of Marriage And Commitment Of Couples Who Have Been Married For Over 30 Years: Challenges And Resilience In Marriage, Rosemarie Gonzalez

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological research study was to explore the experience of marriage commitment for individuals who have been married for over 30 years. Current research indicates that commitment is the leading cause of marital dissolution. Moreover, research indicates that marriage commitment is associated with several factors (e.g., marriage beliefs, communication, relationship maintenance, and marriage quality) that aid in the stability and satisfaction of long-term marriages. The framework for the study included marital commitment in constructivism learning theory, with biblical concepts of marital relationship, and the intergenerational theory. Concept mapping was used as a means of data analysis …

Neutrophils are the most abundant cell type in the airways of tuberculosis patients. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection induces the release of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs); however, the molecular regulation and impact of NET release on Mtb pathogenesis are unknown. We find that during Mtb infection in neutrophils, PAD4 citrullinates histones to decondense chromatin that gets released as NETs in a manner that can maintain neutrophil viability and promote Mtb replication. Type I interferon promotes the formation of chromatin-containing vesicles that allow NET release without compromising plasma membrane integrity. Analysis of nonhuman primate granulomas supports a model where neutrophils are exposed …

The continued emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants and the threat of future Sarbecovirus zoonoses have spurred the design of vaccines that can induce broad immunity against multiple coronaviruses. Here, we use computational methods to infer ancestral phylogenetic reconstructions of receptor binding domain (RBD) sequences across multiple Sarbecovirus clades and incorporate them into a multivalent adenoviral-vectored vaccine. Mice immunized with this pan-Sarbecovirus vaccine are protected in the upper and lower respiratory tracts against infection by historical and contemporary SARS-CoV-2 variants, SARS-CoV, and pre-emergent SHC014 and Pangolin/GD coronavirus strains. Using genetic and immunological approaches, we demonstrate that vaccine-induced protection unexpectedly is conferred principally …

Coastal Waters Of The World: Trends,Threats And Strategies By Don Hinrichsen, C. Nicholas Raphael Dec 2024

Coastal Waters Of The World: Trends,Threats And Strategies By Don Hinrichsen, C. Nicholas Raphael

The Geographical Bulletin

Without doubt Coastal Waters of the World is one of the most comprehensive books to document diverse regional problems in the near and offshore marine coastal zones of the earth. Following a brief introduction two chapters are devoted to riparian population patterns, and marine resources and fisheries. Fourteen chapters are then presented outlining issues along the earth 's most obvious boundary-the zone separating the land and sea. Each regional chapter (e.g. Latin America, North and Baltic Seas, East Africa) has a similar format: characteristics of population and the state of environmental quality followed by a discussion of management efforts and …

Soils And Geomorphology (3rd Ed.) By Peter W. Birkeland, Mike Applegarth Dec 2024

Soils And Geomorphology (3rd Ed.) By Peter W. Birkeland, Mike Applegarth

The Geographical Bulletin

Peter Birkeland's Soils and Geomorphology (3rd ed.) defines 'soil geomorphology' as, "the study of soils and their use in evaluating landform evolution and age, landform stability, surface processes, and past climates." Indeed, the book addresses these issues and then does more; it bridges the gap between geomorphology and pedology. The book can serve as a text for the advanced student in soil science, pedology, or geomorphology as well as a reference guide for the expert soil scientist. In short, Soils and Geomorphology is a 'must have' publication for all who work in the fields of soils and geomorphology.
