Advanced Models For Linking Process In Data Washing Machine, Bushra Sajid
Advanced Models For Linking Process In Data Washing Machine, Bushra Sajid
Theses and Dissertations
Entity Resolution (ER) is a critical process in data integration and quality improvement that identifies and links multiple records referring to the same real-world entity. As data volumes and heterogeneity increase, traditional ER methods face new challenges, prompting research into more advanced techniques. The Proof-of-Concept Data Washing Machine (DWM), developed under the NSF DART Data Life Cycle and Curation research theme, aims to automatically detect and correct data quality errors through unsupervised entity resolution. Recent research focuses on enhancing DWM's effectiveness by replacing rule-based methods with machine learning and deep learning approaches, particularly in the linking process. Deep learning models, …

Using Genomics And Transcriptomics As A Tool To Understand Unique Phenotypes Of Hemipteran Insects That Are Relevant To Agriculture And Public Health, Hunter Kelly Walt
Theses and Dissertations
In the past couple of decades, advances in genomic sequencing technology have caused an unprecedented increase in biological data. Because of the quantity and size of these datasets, the need for biologists with computational expertise also increased, and using these large genomic datasets has revolutionized the way we can answer biological questions. In this dissertation, I apply genomic and transcriptomic data to answer questions about insects of the order Hemiptera that are relevant to agriculture and public health. My dissertation mainly focuses on stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), many of which are agricultural pests, and bed bugs (Hemiptera: Cimicidae), which are …
Educators’ Perceptions Of World Language Curriculum Models, Curriculum Coherence, And Student Learning In New Jersey High School Spanish Programs, Thomas David Pratz
Educators’ Perceptions Of World Language Curriculum Models, Curriculum Coherence, And Student Learning In New Jersey High School Spanish Programs, Thomas David Pratz
Theses and Dissertations
This mixed-methods explanatory sequential study aimed to identify the most commonly used World Language curriculum models in New Jersey high schools, assess the level of curriculum coherence in Spanish programs, and examine their impact on student learning. Surveys and interviews with high school Spanish teachers revealed that, while theoretical curriculum coherence exists in most programs, it is not significantly associated with teacher or district characteristics such as experience, tenure, region, or type. A disconnect was also observed between the World Language curriculum models, perceived curriculum coherence levels, and their effects on student learning. Several themes that emerged from the qualitative …

Beyond The Frame: Unraveling The Influence Of Art In Social Studies Education, Emily Cox
Honors Projects
This study examines the integration of art into social studies education to enhance student engagement, academic outcomes, and meaningful discourse. By incorporating visual literacy and material culture through activities such as analyzing gravestones, it explores how art can connect students to historical and social concepts in impactful ways. Through student-driven analysis and interdisciplinary approaches, the research demonstrates how art integration supports academic objectives, fosters critical thinking, and encourages substantive discussions. The findings highlight art’s potential to enrich understanding, deepen personal connections, and make social studies more engaging and relevant for students.

Development Of Novel Nanocarriers With Multi Modal Action Against Lung Cancer, Gayathri K
Development Of Novel Nanocarriers With Multi Modal Action Against Lung Cancer, Gayathri K
Theses and Dissertations
Lung cancer ranks among the top causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The deteriorating environment and unhealthy lifestyle in the modern era has further contributed to the exponential increase in lung cancer incidence across the globe. Lung cancers fall under two major types based on the location of the tumour in the lung namely, small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) which is more aggressive, and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) which is more prevalent. Late diagnosis has been a major cause for poor prognosis as the cancer is detected only in an advanced stage.
Conventional therapies like chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy against lung cancer …

Assessing Ecosystem Health Of A Completed Mitigation Bank Projects In California: Case Study Analysis, Alexandra I. Novoa
Master's Projects and Capstones
Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems in the world, providing essential ecological functions. These functions include water purification, flood protection, shoreline stabilization, and more. Due to increasing urbanization and development, preserving wetlands is critical. Mitigation Banks combat the loss of wetland acreage from unavoidable development. Mitigation banks were developed to offset the adverse effects of development on wetlands. However, more research is needed on the effectiveness of these mitigation banks in restoring ecologically significant wetland acreage.
Key metrics, including soil health, hydrology, and microbial functionality, were analyzed from literature and restoration project reviews to identify opportunities for improving mitigation …

Post Chondral Defect Reconstruction And Knee Functionality: How Do Aci And Mosaicplasty Compare?, Kate Stutz, Megan Howard
Post Chondral Defect Reconstruction And Knee Functionality: How Do Aci And Mosaicplasty Compare?, Kate Stutz, Megan Howard
Physician Assistant Capstones, 2020-current
Chondral defects significantly contribute to the overwhelming number of patients suffering from degenerative joint disease (DJD) daily. In efforts to prevent this pathology, chondral reconstruction procedures have emerged to prevent early development of this condition. Two current methods utilized include osteochondral autograft transplantation (OATs) and autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI). In isolation, the effectiveness of each technique has been evaluated, however there has yet to be a definitive comparison of equivalency between the two. Through utilizing PubMed, we conducted a literature search in order to gather studies conducted directly comparing these two interventions, which we narrowed down to four studies by …
