Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are emerging water contaminants with significant environmental and health impacts, posing challenges in water treatment due to their high stability and persistence. With increasing regulations, a critical need remains in understanding the sustainability of PFAS treatment technologies. Our review examines the environmental, economic, and social impacts of current PFAS treatment technologies across different water types and contexts. Additionally, we propose a framework for future sustainability studies to enable more holistic technology evaluations under specific conditions.

The creation of the Joint United States Public Affairs Office (JUSPAO) on 14 May 1965 revitalized the psychological warfare (PSYWAR) campaign in Vietnam after decades of post-World War II drawdown and initiated a more targeted and efficient employment of psychological operations (PSYOP) throughout the American war effort. To understand the evolution of Vietnam-era PSYOP, it is imperative to explore the United States military’s implementation of PSYWAR and analyze how it changed throughout the conflict. Rapidly retreating glaciers in the arid tropics are an invaluable resource for communities that depend on meltwater to support drinking water, agriculture, hydropower production, and mining. There is limited understanding of how glacier loss will impact regional water resources, groundwater flow paths, and water quality, especially during the dry season. The Nevado Coropuna volcano in Southern Peru has one of the largest remaining ice caps in the tropics, but has experienced rapid ice loss in the past few decades and is projected to disappear in the next century due to climate change. Terahertz (THz) light is at the resonant frequency of important fundamental excitations within crystalline materials such as carrier dynamics, phonons, and spin-wave excitations called magnons. THz light can be produced at high field strengths using optical rectification in nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals. N-benzyl-2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (BNA) is one such crystal commonly used to produce THz when pumping with 800 nm light. Here, we improve upon the design of the molecular building blocks of BNA by replacing a hydrogen atom with a fluorine atom, leading to improved THz generation and a higher crystal damage threshold. The Pixel Personality AI project explores how AI characters can be embedded in augmented reality (AR) environments to foster user interaction and storytelling. By situating AI personas within real-world contexts, the project examines how design principles, storytelling techniques, and user-centric technology can create engaging and intuitive experiences. Through iterative prototyping and design refinement, the project addressed challenges in aesthetic design, interface usability, and AR integration. The resulting low-poly aesthetic and customized visual filters enhance spatial storytelling while maintaining a balance between user focus and environmental immersion. The detection of malware is an important challenge in the field of cybersecurity, which is demanding efficient and accurate solutions for making threats easier. This study is focused on the detection of malware by integrating a framework that uses a Mamdani fuzzy interference system (FIS) and diffusion techniques based on three different deep learning algorithms, which are convolutional neural networks (CNNs), recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and generative adversarial networks (GANs) for malware detection by using recent dataset. Neuromodulators in the brain are fundamental to neuronal functions and animal behaviors in health and diseases. The modulatory actions of neuromodulators highly rely on their spatiotemporal dynamics. Recent research has demonstrated the importance of both sustained and transient change in neuromodulators, likely due to tonic and phasic neuromodulator release. However, no traditional methods could simultaneously record both types of dynamics. Fluorescence lifetime of optical reporters could offer a solution because it both allows high temporal resolution and is impervious to sensor expression differences across chronic periods. This study analyzes the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) using computer-mediated communication (CMC) theory to prospect areas for innovation in an emerging field that is rapidly becoming integrated within our everyday lives as well as in the marketplace. In this policy brief, we explore several potential drivers of heterogeneity in policy outcomes that can be examined in tobacco control policy evaluations, expanding the evidence base to contribute to continued, equitable progress in reducing tobacco-related health outcomes. We discuss these factors in the context of a hypothetical evaluation of the impact of smoke-free laws on current smoking and quit attempts in the Tobacco Nation. Despite a similar policy environment within the Tobacco Nation, there is variation in the strength of smoke-free law coverage across states. This research was to identify how the Virginia Department of Education handled Music Education during the COVID-19 pandemic. When proper support from the Department of Education is given, music educators can run their programs efficiently without doing much research on their own. By examining the COVID-19 policies and procedures created by the Virginia Department of Education, this qualitative study investigated how much emphasis was put on the unique needs of an education in music. In John's Gospel, Jesus uses the word "woman" in surprising ways: to address his mother at the wedding in Cana and at the Cross, to address a woman in Samaria, in a parable about a woman giving birth in his Final Discourse, and finally, to address Mary Magdalene at the garden tomb. This thesis uses the unusual way Jesus addresses his mother in the Fourth Gospel as a catalyst to find a connection between all five uses of "woman" by Jesus in John's Gospel, concluding that these instances evoke creation imagery, in particular of Genesis 3:15. This paper focuses on the transhistorical nature of the protection of personality interests in the civilian tradition. It takes Roman iniuria as a key concept to analyze the legal protection of the “inner selves” of human beings. The legal framework of iniuria stands out as an illustration of how social and moral phenomena which belonged to the interior realm such as honor, dignity, emotions, and reputation carried legal value in Roman law. After initially borrowing the unworthiness-ingratitude pairing of the Napoleonic Code, the legal systems of Québec and Romania opted to expand the former by using the application range of the latter as an example, specifically in the field of legacies. Nonetheless, the two systems diverged greatly in readjusting the scope of the ingratitude doctrine: while the Québécois lawmaker chose to abolish the doctrine of ingratitude entirely, its Romanian counterpart opted to maintain it, giving rise to the possibility of overlapping rules. How does French tort law deal with environmental issues? Can it effectively do so, and how? Corporate social responsibility is one of tools developed by law in order to ensure environmental protection. Since its inception in the 70s, corporate social responsibility has undergone a transformation. From being purely voluntary, it has become mandatory. Several recent texts, including two European directives of 2022 and 2024, have imposed numerous obligations on companies in order to force them to develop a responsible and virtuous strategy, in other words, to anticipate and prevent the negative effects of their activities, particularly on the environment. The duty to advise on environmental matters is becoming increasingly important for French notaries, because the government is delegating more and more missions of ecological interest to the-min their capacity as public officers. The first aim of this note is to present and assess the duty of notaries to advise on environmental nuisances in connection with the sale or rental of immovables, which is one of the main causes of liability for notaries: this duty was recently revised and incorporated into the Civil Code. In 2016, to combat environmental damage, the French legislature introduced a new chapter in the Civil Code governing compensation for ecological damage through civil liability. The Nazis looted hundreds of thousands of pieces of art across Europe before and during World War II. Many of the victims and heirs of parties wrongfully dispossessed are still searching for their stolen art or, in some cases, are fighting in order to get it back. As seen in Cassirer v. Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation, choice of law—or determining the applicable substantive law that governs the dispute—can have enormous impacts on stolen art cases. Louisiana courts have recently struggled with whether to recognize transfer-on-death forms for securities accounts as valid. Because these forms do not comply with Louisiana’s law of will formalities, they are incapable of transferring ownership of a decedent’s securities account under Louisiana law. However, some Louisiana courts have held that a decedent can circumvent Louisiana’s rule against nonprobate transfers by including a choice-of-law clause selecting another’s state law to govern the form. Still, other Louisiana courts have held that Louisiana’s rule against nonprobate transfers is a rule of public policy that cannot be avoided with a choice-of-law clause. This paper argues …

This essay analyzes the challenges arising from the fragmented legal landscape of surrogacy in the United States, where inconsistent state laws and a lack of federal oversight create significant uncertainties. Through a hypothetical case involving a same-sex couple, Sally and Jane, the study examines key issues, including the determination of parental rights, the legal status of children born through surrogacy, and protections for surrogate mothers.
