An Empirical Predictive Model For Determining The Aqueous Solubility Of Bcs Class Iv Drugs In Amorphous Solid Dispersions, Sridivya Raparla
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Poor aqueous solubility persists as a significant challenge in the pharmaceutical industry.Ongoing research aims to enhance the solubility of drugs to deliver them more effectively. Amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) is a widely used solubility enhancement technique. The absence of a specific model to predict compound solubility from ASDs resulted in a trial-and- error approach to studying solubility enhancement and makes it a laborious and time-consuming process. Predictive models could streamline this process and accelerate the development of oral drugs with improved aqueous solubilities. This study aimed to develop a predictive model to estimate the solubility of a compound from the …

Computer Science: Faculty Publications and Other Works
Zero Involvement Pairing and Authentication (ZIPA) is a promising technique for auto-provisioning large networks of Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. In this work, we present the first successful signal injection attack on a ZIPA system. Most existing ZIPA systems assume there is a negligible amount of influence from the unsecured outside space on the secured inside space. In reality, environmental signals do leak from adjacent unsecured spaces and influence the environment of the secured space. Our attack takes advantage of this fact to perform a signal injection attack on the popular Schurmann & Sigg algorithm. The keys generated by the adversary with …

Use Of Online Hybrid Supplemental Teaching In Field-Based Teacher Education Programs, Hank Bohanon, Wenjin Guo, Christopher Dickman
Education: School of Education Faculty Publications and Other Works
University faculty who implement field-based teacher education programs experience challenges providing instruction for clinical, site-embedded university-based students. These issues can include a lack of common times to meet with students, limited access to meeting space to provide direct instruction, and changes in the school schedule. A number of these barriers may be addressed by adding elements of online instruction to traditional in-person classes, making the course, in effect, a hybrid one. In this study, the researchers analyzed the perspectives of university-based, special education focused instructors and clinical partners on the barriers, needs, benefits, and content related to implementing hybrid instruction …

The combined application of ultrasound (US) and plasma microbubble (PMB) is a promising technology against glioblastoma (GBM). Here, we determined the effects of US and PMB (alone and combined) on U-251 MG GBM and A431 epidermoid carcinoma spheroids under different conditions. The synergistic treatment of US- and PMB-induced tumor sphere cell death in a time-, dose-, treatment frequency-, and reactive oxygen species dependent manner, while multiple treatments augmented this effect. Synergistic treatments significantly reduced three-dimensional GBM spheroid regrowth and cell proliferation while inducing cytotoxicity, spheroid shrinkage, and damage to the tumor microenvironment. PMB-induced cytotoxicity throughout the tumor sphere, likely via …

Modern technology makes it easier to store datasets, but extracting and isolating useful information with its full meaning from this data is crucial and hard. Recently, several algorithms for clustering data have used complex fuzzy sets (CFS) to improve clustering performance. Thus, adding a second dimension (phase term) to the range of membership avoids the problem of losing the full meaning of complicated information during the decision-making process. In this research, the notion of the complex shadowed set (CSHS) was introduced and considered as an example of the three region approximations method simplifying processing with the support of CFS and …

Traffic analysis on highways at the macroscopic level is very similar to the analysis of the spread of infectious diseases, namely the susceptible-infected-recover (SIR) model. We propose the SIR model with a control variable. The dynamics with fixed control and stability of the model are analyzed. Sensitivity analysis was also carried out. Variable control is applied as an effort to regulate or change the duration of the green light at an intersection. We obtain an optimal control strategy when the control is time-dependent. Numerical results show the positive impacts of implementing the control to susceptible vehicles and treatment for congested …

A dual jet flow comprises a wall jet, discharged immediately parallel to a solid boundary, flowing alongside a parallel jet whose exit is offset from the solid boundary by some distance. Despite the widespread industrial application of dual jet flows, experimental analysis of their flow and heat transfer characteristics is severely underrepresented in the published literature. As a result, the heat transfer capabilities and driving flow mechanisms associated with dual jet flows are not yet fully understood, meaning they cannot be optimised towards specific applications. The present study is thus concerned with characterising the transfer of heat to a dual …

An Enhanced Deep Autoencoder For Flight Delay Prediction, Desmond B. Bisandu, Dan Andrei Soviani-Sitoiu, Irene Moulitsas
Journal of Aviation/Aerospace Education & Research
Accurate and timely flight delay prediction cannot be overemphasized because of the ever-increasing demand for air travel and its importance in deploying intelligent transportation systems. Nonetheless, there has not been a universal solution to the problem, as more intelligent flight decision systems are required for the aviation industry's future growth. Existing flight delay classification and prediction approaches are mainly shallow traffic models and do not satisfy many applications in the real world. Our motivation to rethink the deep architecture model for predicting flight delays emanates from the problem. In this research, we proposed a technique that modified stacked autoencoder architecture …

Increasing Initial Cfi Capacity Within Collegiate Flight Programs, Andrew Leonard, Cody Christensen
International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace
According to the Government Accountability Office (2018), collegiate aviation schools face two primary challenges: flight instructor retention and the high cost of pilot training. In a study of collegiate aviation programs, 16 of the 18 schools reported difficulty in recruiting and retaining certified flight instructors (CFI), leading to the inability to accept all students who applied to the programs. Furthermore, these programs attributed the high instructor turnover to the increased demand for commercial pilots at the airlines, a challenge that is not expected to decrease in the near future (Boeing, 2023). While the lack of flight instructor retention impacts flight …
