Journal of Bioresource Management

Abortifacient disorders in small ruminants present a serious problem for livestock farmers, leading to financial losses and lower production rates. This review examines both infectious and non-infectious factors that cause abortions in goats (Capra hircus) and sheep (Ovis aries), which are crucial animals in rural farming practices. Infectious causes, such as bacteria (Brucella melitensis, Chlamydia abortus, Coxiella burnetii), viruses (bluetongue, border disease), and parasites (Toxoplasma gondii), are major factors in reproductive health problems, resulting in considerable livestock losses. Additionally, non-infectious factors like poor nutrition, toxins, and genetic issues also contribute to these …

The Homecoming Readings On Theater Inside Syria, Mona Merhi Dec 2024

The Homecoming Readings On Theater Inside Syria, Mona Merhi

Regards

This research focuses on theater inside Syria during the decade following the Syrian revolution. It examines the theatrical aesthetics of prominent experiences while attempting to understand the impact of everyday life challenges and the internal conflicts on Syrian theater. I argue that similar challenges may create post-conflict theatrical forms that are informed by a certain sense of allegiance to the city and the art form of the stage. While borrowing Diana Taylor’s concept of multiple allegiances and strategies of doubling and staying the same, the present scholarship looks into the decision of staying inside Syria as both an aesthetic framework …

Despite its growing prevalence, there remains a need for a clear and contextualized meaning of situationship, especially among Filipino adolescents. This study seeks to provide a definitive and nuanced definition of situationship, contextualize this emerging concept in modern dating, and contribute to the existing literature on relationship dynamics. Focus group discussions anchored on a descriptive phenomenological research design were conducted among 15 Filipino adolescents aged 18 to 20 years old and were considered to fall under the late adolescence group. Participants …

A Mother's Understanding Of Her Adolescent: A Social Anxiety Study, Cheronda Pinkard Dec 2024

A Mother's Understanding Of Her Adolescent: A Social Anxiety Study, Cheronda Pinkard

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) affects 1% to 13% of adolescents, often placing significant demands on their caregivers. Mothers frequently adapt their behaviors to accommodate their child’s anxiety, which may impact their well-being and the parent-child relationship. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of mothers accommodating adolescents with SAD to understand better the emotional and relational toll of this caregiving role. The problem addressed is the limited understanding of how maternal accommodation affects mothers. Mental health practitioners, educators, and policymakers may benefit from this research by gaining insight into these families' challenges and informing family-centered interventions and support services. Guided …

Carbon Accounting Tool For Greenhouse Gas Emission Sources In Steam-Methane Reforming Facility, Farah Anissa Sukri, Syaza Izyanni Ahmad

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

Hydrogen production facility stands out as one of the significant CO2 contributors in the oil and gas industry. As hydrogen will emerge as a clean energy source in the future, this research will focus on carbon footprint assessment in hydrogen production facilities. This study aims to quantify the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent through direct and indirect emissions, comprised of stationary combustion, process emissions, and energy consumption. A comparative analysis has been conducted between the Steam-Methane Reforming (SMR) facility in company A. The study revealed that SMR-2 shows the highest CO2 emissions per production of 9.823 tCO2e/tH2, whereas SMR-1 has …

Quantitative Risk Assessment In Thermo-Chemical Waste-To-Energy Facilities, Fakhrul R. Ridzwan, Syaza Izyanni Ahmad Dec 2024

Quantitative Risk Assessment In Thermo-Chemical Waste-To-Energy Facilities, Fakhrul R. Ridzwan, Syaza Izyanni Ahmad

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

This study presents a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) of thermo-chemical Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technologies, specifically incineration and gasification, by utilising simulation tools PHAST and SAFETI. Hazard identification, consequence analysis, and risk assessment were conducted to compare the safety profiles of these two technologies and proposed risk reduction strategies for a safer design. Accident scenarios were modelled for Tuas South Incineration and Borregaard Gasification facilities to analyse dispersion and effects of fire and explosion. Hazards indicated that only gasification exclusively involves flammable releases because it reacts as a partial combustion, with carbon monoxide and hydrogen as flammable byproducts. Results revealed that while …

Numerical Optimisation Of Co₂ Injection In A Sandstone Reservoir, Asiman Musayev, Hisham Khaled Ben Mahmud Dec 2024

Numerical Optimisation Of Co₂ Injection In A Sandstone Reservoir, Asiman Musayev, Hisham Khaled Ben Mahmud

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

This paper presents a study on the numerical optimisation of CO2 injection in sandstone reservoirs to maximise oil recovery. Using PETREL and CMG-GEM, the research explores various injection strategies, including Water-Alternating-Gas (WAG), miscible CO2, and CO2-N2 injection. The model was created based on a publicly available research paper on an onshore oil field in the Sirt Basin, Libya. The model was validated using historical production data from January 1967 to January 2003, resulting in a Global History Matching Error of 10.37%, indicating satisfactory accuracy. For miscible CO2 injection, the optimal maximum injection rate was 30 MMcfd. In the case of …
