The increasing demand for animal protein to cater to the ever-growing human population has prompted the quest for alternative protein sources from insects. The field cricket Gyrllus bimaculatus, is one of the species of major interest, however, rearing of this species depends on the commercial chicken feed, which is expensive. This study explored the suitability of food remains in the rearing of this species. Three experimental food types were formulated from various food remains, and fed to crickets along with the commercial chicken feed for 14 weeks. The mechanical performances of timber connections are particularly important for timber engineers involved in the design of the wood structures. The mechanism of connection must be well understood in order to design a safer connection and avoid catastrophic failure. Often connections are made weak fuse elements by deliberate intent to ensure that if structural systems fail it will be by controllable ductile deformation of connections in load paths. The use of synthetic polymers as packaging materials constitutes environmental pollution due to the accumulation of plastic waste after they are discarded. This study aimed at preparing and optimizing an environmental-friendly carboxymethyl starch/PVA/kaolin composite film using response surface methodology to develop potential solutions for replacing synthetic packaging and optimize the formulation of the biocomposite films. The biocomposite films were prepared by solution casting method. The interactive effect of carboxymethyl starch (CMS) (2.0-5.0 g), poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA) (0.0-3.0 g) and kaolin (0.00-0.22 g) on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), percentage elongation at break (%EB) and water vapour permeability (WVP) were determined. This paper explores the ‘discursive’ as well as the physical terrains of Country as part of a co-design methodology employed with Nukunu. It examines a curatorial and archival perspective in its documenting of Nukunu Country forming part of the Time Layered Culture Map (TLCMap) digital humanities infrastructure project. Municipal solid waste (MSW) management presents significant environmental challenges, especially with increasing urbanization and population growth. This study assesses the environmental impacts of MSW, focusing on waste composition, management practices, and their effects on air, water, and soil quality. The primary objective is to evaluate how MSW contributes to environmental degradation and to explore strategies for mitigating these impacts. A hypothesis was developed that optimizing waste composition through proper sorting and treatment can reduce the environmental footprint of MSW management by at least 10% in terms of leachate production and greenhouse gas emissions. This study argues that heritage can work side-by-side with development, with culture and heritage serving as an integral part of the city’s economic backbone. A major challenge faced by developing countries is making their cities sustainable by preserving cultural heritage amidst demands for economic growth. This is experienced in the Philippines, with its capital city, Manila, as a case in point. Using a heritage-driven development framework developed by Zerrudo (2020), the paper examines how cultural heritage conservation and tourism development objectives affect the sustainability of cities in developing countries. Short-Term Parental Migration And Intergenerational Educational Persistence, Swati Sharma

This study examines the mechanisms through which short-term parental migration affects intergenerational educational persistence, using a sample of 40,922 Indian father-child pairs from the Indian Human Development Surveys. A flexible modeling approach was used that allows for heterogeneous effects of social origins and structural features of the Indian education system on different educational transitions of the child. Results show that parental migration increases intergenerational educational persistence. In particular, persistence increases for higher educational transitions when parental migration is motivated by economic distress or when the left-behind children are engaged in household responsibilities. Governments and national health authorities are, consequently, exploring more effective ways to increase organ donation rates, both from the living and the dead. Consumer empowerment in Indonesia remains relatively low, particularly for individuals with disabilities. This study investigates the roles of accessibility, self-esteem, and information access in empowering disabled consumers. A total of 100 participants with physical disabilities, aged 17 and older, were surveyed regarding their online and offline purchasing experiences. Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using SEM PLS. Results indicate that self-esteem and information accessibility significantly influence the empowerment of consumers with disabilities, with the Disabled Consumer Empowerment Index categorized as "not empowered." This study aims to provide empirical evidence on the impact of the informal relationship between the CFO and CEO on tax aggressiveness, and the moderating role of business strategy in this relationship. The data used in this study is sourced from companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2020 to 2022. The informal relationship between the CFO and CEO is measured through social ties and CFO co-option, while tax aggressiveness is measured by book-tax differences. Antibiotics have been found extensively in the environment, particularly in groundwater, sediments, and surface water. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify antibiotic-resistant bacteria from wastewater collected from sewage (Sher Shah Colony, Raiwind) and an industrial area (Hudiara Drain Gajju Matta) in Lahore. Ten bacterial strains (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5, Z6, Z7, Z8, Z9, and Z10) were isolated from the samples. All of these strains were gram-positive. Antibiotic resistance profiling showed that strain Z1 was most resistant to ampicillin (1500 μg/ml) among all of the antibiotics (tetracycline, penicillin, erythromycin, and chloramphenicol) that were tested. In many areas of the world, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, groundwater is the primary source of fresh water, and it supplies around one-third of the world's fresh water. Agriculture is the primary economic sector on the coast in the southern district (Nowshera). More food productivity is required due to the expanding population and diminishing agricultural lands, which increases the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers in farming. India has been historically challenged by an insufficient and heterogeneously clustered distribution of healthcare infrastructure. While resource-limited healthcare settings, such as major parts of India, require multidisciplinary approaches for improvement, one key approach is the recruitment and training of a healthcare workforce representative of its population. This requires overcoming barriers to equity and representation in Indian medical education that are multi-faceted, historical, and rooted in inequality. “Religion’S Firm-Rooted Truths:” Richard Polwhele, Pulpit Oratory And Loyalist Romanticism In The English Province, Dafydd Moore

This article explores the rearguard action fought by the clergyman and writer Richard Polwhele against what he saw as the threat of Anglican Evangelicalism and Methodism in Cornwall during the French Revolutionary period, highlighting the connections between religious experience, rhetorical performance and politics. Whether it be through his theorizing of pulpit oratory, his rows with those he considered Enthusiasts or his understanding of ordination oaths, Polwhele maintained that religious belief should be regulated by rhetorical distance. Explaining this stance, the article shows how Polwhele’s theological and ecclesiological opposition to the Enthusiasm he regarded as dangerously inherent in Evangelical Protestantism also …

Azmanova rightly notes that the present conjuncture has been marked by a vexing exhaustion of utopian energies—which she sees underwritten by a condition of “meta-crisis” and a “paradox of emancipation.” I am sympathetic to her insights, but I wonder how these figure into a broader critique of the politics of present-day capitalism. This is a response to the articles of Albena Azmanova and Jodi Dean included in this issue, exploring the intersections and divergences in their analyses of contemporary capitalism. I argue that the lens of neofeudalism that Jodi Dean invites us to entertain can offer a different explanation of Albena Azmanova’s diagnosis of contemporary capitalism. Notably, I propose that capitalism’s neofeudalising tendencies contribute to the rise of inequality, the decline of class politics, and the increase of monopoly power.
