The subject of this paper is an inconspicuous stone lintel kept in the Rockefeller Museum, Jerusalem, heavily marked with graffiti and writing. The stone exhibits various kinds of markings: drawings of coats of arms, pilgrim names and ad hoc inscriptions, clearly carved by Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land during the Mamluk period. The scribbles allude to the inner way of thinking of the pilgrims, offering unique information as to the personal motives for undertaking the arduous travel and insights into the making of Western Christian societies in the European late medieval period. Epigraphic transition to writing in the vernacular languages was one of the most striking phenomena in the sociocultural history of medieval Europe from the twelfth century onward, affecting all domains of written culture and progressing at different paces in different places. This transition took place in the Crusader states, as in France, in the mid-thirteenth century, but here with a radical turn from medieval Latin to Outremer French—an Old French dialect used in the Latin East. Falls in long-term care centers (LTC) remain a significant problem due to their association with increased mortality, healthcare costs, and decreased patient outcomes. A major contributing factor to falls is the use of psychotropic medications commonly prescribed in LTC facilities despite evidence against their use. This paper discusses a quasi-experimental study aimed at reducing falls through nursing education on how psychotropics contribute to falls. The study also highlights the regulatory requirements for LTC facilities to monitor and reduce fall occurrences and the efforts made by a State Veterans Home to address the number of falls. The mixed methods approach was used to research single mothers’ communication patterns. Fitzpatrick and Ritchie’s family communication patterns theory (FCPT) was used to guide the research. Online surveys and semi structured interviews were used to gather data that were analyzed through MAXQDA and SPSS software. The research examined factors such as age, culture, and the number of children a mother has in correlation to variables such as conformity and conversation orientation on the FCPT scale. Since disc golf originated, there is a lack of research on the proper biomechanics of the disc golf throw. This descriptive, quantitative study seeks to be the first. The purpose of this descriptive case study was to understand the current end-of-life curriculum within didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses for entry-to-practice respiratory therapy students at Respiratory Therapy University (RTU), a pseudonym for the university. The theory guiding this study was Bandura’s (1988) social cognitive theory. This study used the four constructs of observational learning, perceived self-efficacy, expectancies, and behavioral capability to explain and address the problem of limited end-of-life care curricula within an entry-to-practice BSRT program. This quantitative, causal-comparative, retrospective study investigated the impact of simulation-based education on nurse communication competence by evaluating communication skills between two groups of recently graduated and licensed registered nurses while controlling for total experience hours. Though nursing communication competence significantly impacts patient care outcomes, few studies have addressed the impact of simulation on the communication competence of licensed nurses practicing in the clinical setting. Libraries, particularly local public libraries, have evolved into hubs for community-first services, extending beyond traditional roles. Library personnel are now expected to act as first responders and crisis leaders during times such as natural disasters. This report documents the critical crisis leadership qualifications required for library personnel, identified through comprehensive research from 2015 to 2023. Findings from these situation-specific case studies call attention to the community’s needs for library services during emergencies, underscoring the requirement for LIS education to include disaster management. Continuing education (CE) is also critical in preparing information professionals for these essential roles.

Heterozygous Btnl8 Variants In Individuals With Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome In Children (Mis-C), Evangelos Bellos, Erica G Schmitt, Et Al.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare condition following SARS-CoV-2 infection associated with intestinal manifestations. Genetic predisposition, including inborn errors of the OAS-RNAseL pathway, has been reported. We sequenced 154 MIS-C patients and utilized a novel statistical framework of gene burden analysis, "burdenMC," which identified an enrichment for rare predicted-deleterious variants in BTNL8 (OR = 4.2, 95% CI: 3.5-5.3, P < 10-6). BTNL8 encodes an intestinal epithelial regulator of Vγ4+γδ T cells implicated in regulating gut homeostasis. Enrichment was exclusive to MIS-C, being absent in patients with COVID-19 or bacterial disease. Using an available functional test for BTNL8, rare variants from a larger cohort of MIS-C patients (n = 835) were tested which identified eight variants in 18 patients (2.2%) with impaired engagement of Vγ4+γδ T cells. Most of these variants were in the B30.2 domain of BTNL8 implicated in sensing epithelial cell status. These findings were associated with altered intestinal permeability, suggesting a possible link between disrupted gut homeostasis and MIS-C-associated enteropathy triggered by SARS-CoV-2.

Through its comprehensive examination, this quantitative study provides a thorough assessment of the association between nursing home overall quality rating, nursing home ownership structures, RN staffing, and the impact that RN staffing has on long-stay quality measures. This study examined the secondary Minimum Data Set assessments from Texas nursing homes (N=1,062). This data set was obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Provider (CMS) Information website. This author completed a literature review that involved analyzing ten research studies on a variety of youth populations. In this paper, I analyze two contemporary fiction novels, My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh and My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell, through the lens of the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). Moshfegh satirically critiques diagnostic psychiatry as easily exploitable, and suggests that instead of seeking asylum from pain, we should remind ourselves that happiness and pain exist in harmony; that pain is a part of life. Background: Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is associated with increased mortality, morbidity, and readmission rates. Evidence-based practice outlines that HFrEF patients should be on guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), including medication from four categories: renin-angiotensin system inhibitors, β-blockers approved for the treatment of heart failure, aldosterone antagonists, and sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors.
