The prevalence of central obesity, both globally and in Indonesia, continues to increase. Mental and emotional disorders are one of the contributing factors to central obesity. In previous studies, it was known that the relationship between emotional mental disorders and obesity can occur in bidirections, where emotional mental disorders can cause central obesity or vice versa. This literature review aims to find out more about the relationship between emotional mental disorders and central obesity from various countries. The searching for articles used 4 databases (Scopus, Science Direct, Proquest, and Pubmed) with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis …

Adolescent depression, particularly when complicated by psychotic features, presents significant challenges in treatment due to its complex and multifaceted nature. This case study explores the integration of neurofeedback training and Dhikr, an Islamic meditative practice, as complementary therapies alongside traditional pharmacotherapy in treating a 15 years old male diagnosed with severe recurrent depression. Despite initial reluctance and skepticism influenced by community stigma surrounding mental health and spiritual practices, both therapies contributed to noticeable improvements in the patient's symptoms and overall well-being. Neurofeedback was utilized to regulate brainwave activity, while Dhikr provided a meditative and spiritual component that promoted mindfulness and …

Do Intangible Assets Impact Financial Statement Comparability? A Case Study Of Washington State Hospitals, Andrew Brajcich, Dan Friesner, Matthew Q. Mcpherson
Do Intangible Assets Impact Financial Statement Comparability? A Case Study Of Washington State Hospitals, Andrew Brajcich, Dan Friesner, Matthew Q. Mcpherson
The North American Accounting Studies
Firms are becoming increasingly reliant on intangible assets to create value and differentiate themselves from their peers. Intangible assets are typically reported in the balance sheet using general categories such as “goodwill” or “other intangible assets.” Intangible assets are often unique in their attributes and productive lifespans, which makes them challenging to accurately and precisely record in accounting statements. While the assets themselves provide unique value creation opportunities, it is unclear whether specific intangible assets impact assessments of financial statement comparability. This study investigates whether the existence of various types of intangible assets leads to differences in financial statement comparability …

Surveying The Role Of Visual Analytics In Human-Machine Teaming, Naga Datha Saikiran Battula
Theses
Humans and machines both possess their unique capabilities and have their strengths and weaknesses, which can be complementary to one another and allow them to achieve a common goal. Teaming in the modern era involves text prompts, voice commands, gesture recognition, touch interfaces, and the latest visualization techniques that allow parties/agents to interact. Communication through visualization plays a vital role in allowing robust insights to be gained through a glance. Using visualization as a medium between humans and machines can increase the communication bandwidth. Human-machine teaming has witnessed much progress, with many theories and practical examples emerging. In the report, …

We assessed the degree to which individuals retain cognitive abilities from adolescence through older adulthood, and whether more education associates with better retention in some more than others, after adjusting for adolescent cognitive ability. We also evaluated whether benefits associated with education differ for those with lower or higher cognitive scores in adolescence, or women or men. Data came from the Project Talent Aging Study, and included measures of abstract reasoning, mathematics, visualization in two dimensions, and recognition memory in 1960 and 2018 (n=2,032; age range 71 to 79). Confirmatory factor analysis was used to fit one-factor (cognitive ability factor, …

A Mother's Understanding Of Her Adolescent: A Social Anxiety Study, Cheronda Pinkard
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Social anxiety disorder (SAD) affects 1% to 13% of adolescents, often placing significant demands on their caregivers. Mothers frequently adapt their behaviors to accommodate their child’s anxiety, which may impact their well-being and the parent-child relationship. I Second That Emotion: Examining The Association Between Emotion Regulation Skills And Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms After A Traumatic Event In A Sample Of Black College Students, Cheyenne Ashley
Graduate Masters Theses
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been termed an “emotion disorder” due to its association with obstructing trauma survivors’ ability to regulate their emotions (Frewen & Lanius, 2006, as cited in Tull et al., 2020, p. 295). Previous research consistently shows individuals with PTSD experience significant difficulties in emotion regulation (ER) skills (e.g., Ehring & Quack, 2010). Despite the unique systemic challenges inherent in the experience of Black Folk which can exacerbate PTSD symptom severity (Carter, 2020; Bird et al., 2021), research focusing on Black trauma survivors remains limited.
This study utilized 3 self-report measures: the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale …

Napoleon’S Corpse And The Subversion Of Historical And Political Authority, Alissa Rachel Adams
Art Inquiries
This article examines printed depictions of Napoleon Bonaparte’s exhumed corpse in conjunction with Romantic historical practice in nineteenth-century France. Current studies on history in the Romantic age emphasize Romantic historicism’s link to a widespread and frustrated yearning for direct access to the past that will settle the upheavals of the revolutionary period. This study considers how the corpse and its representations fulfill the desire for direct access to the past but, in doing so, also contributes to a proliferation of individual understandings of the past—and future. Through an analysis of representations of the corpse, their sources, and their connection to …

Institutional Support's Influence On Green Beekeeping Adoption In Resource-Constrained Biharamulo Forest Reserve, Tanzania: The Extended Theory Of Planned Behavior, Haruna Athumani, Ranger Kanan, Gerald Zachary Paga Tinali
Business Management Review
Green production practices are crucial for environmental conservation, yet scholarly research on green beekeeping remains limited. This study seeks to enhance the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by developing an extended model of Institutional Support theory of Planned Behavior (ISTPB) to understand better beekeepers' behavior toward adopting green beekeeping practices. The model focuses on institutional support and its role in shaping individual behavior related to green beekeeping adoption. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), the study's empirical results show that institutional support and the three original TPB components, i.e., attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, positively and significantly influence green …
