The IASJ Journal of Applied Jazz Research

Jazz history is often presented in collegiate textbooks and classrooms as a linear, teleological, and chronological progression from one style to another. Some scholars have recently reacted against this pattern and have instead focused heavily on viewing jazz history through the lens of one or a few narrow perspectives such as race, economics, politics, gender, or similar topics. This paper argues that both of these approaches, taken separately, are flawed, and that therefore a more effective methodology might be to integrate the two by utilizing the abstract concept of a spiral. Introduction. Abdominal aortic pseudoaneurysm caused by autoimmune vasculitis is a rare complication. Clinical presentation of patients is often late with life–threatening complications.

Case Illustration: A 62–year–old male patient with infrarenal abdominal aortic pseudoaneurysm presenting with a 2–week worsening severe abdominal and lumbar pain with a history of uncontrolled hypertension and a history of oral ulcer. He was successfully treated with tube grafting through open surgical repair.

Conclusion: The pseudoaneurysm was successfully removed and replaced with a polyester tube graft with no perioperative complications and was discharged 5 days later

The nonprofit sector faces a significant issue: the underrepresentation of the communities it aims to serve, including Alaska Native communities. This research investigates the likely causes of this underrepresentation and explores potential solutions. It includes nine qualitative interviews with a majority of Alaskan Native leaders and consultations with other non-Native nonprofit leaders who have extensive experience in Alaska's nonprofit organizations.

Indonesia has a large population, with a declining annual growth trend. Economic and non-economic factors contribute to the desired number of children. This study uses the latest data from the 2017 Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) to analyze the relationship between these factors and the desired number of children. A logit model is employed to evaluate the probability of having more than two children.The findings indicate that higher economic status is associated with a lower likelihood of having more than two children. Democrats regained full control of the General Assembly after two years of split legislative power, thwarting Governor Glenn Youngkin’s efforts to secure a Republican trifecta. Redistricting drove unprecedented turnover, with more than one-third of lawmakers joining their respective chambers as newcomers in 2024. In its 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the United States Supreme Court found that there is no constitutional right to an abortion, overturning nearly fifty years of precedent set by Roe v. Wade.

In his concurrence in Dobbs, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that the Court “should reconsider” its past decision in Griswold v. Connecticut. The 1965 case found that married people have a constitutional right to contraception, which Eisenstadt v. Baird extended to unmarried individuals in 1972.

This study uses a bibliometric analysis method with the PRISMA model to identify, select, and filter articles in Scopus-indexed journals from 1948 to 2024 (n= 650), with data analyzed using the VOSViewer application. The plants of the genus Ferula L. have long been recognized for their significant roles in traditional medicine in the Middle East and Asia, a heritage that we deeply respect and appreciate. A diverse array of biologically active compounds, particularly concentrated in the roots of various Ferula species, accounts for their broad range of medicinal properties and applications in folk medicine. Many species within this genus are noted for their high content of phenolic compounds, which exhibit potent antioxidant activity and demonstrate substantial antimicrobial and antifungal properties.
