Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences Faculty Publications and Presentations

Accurate predictions of herbicide dissipation endpoints are essential for making environmental management decisions, estimating the duration of weed control, and deciding crop replant and rotation options. The performance of the single first-order (SFO), first-order multiple-compartment (FOMC), bi-exponential (BEXP), first-order double-exponential decay (FODED), and first-order two-compartment (FOTC) was evaluated to describe S-metolachlor dissipation. Results showed that the BEXP and FOTC were not appropriate. The FODED was ranked as the top model with the lowest Akaike's information criterion (AICc) value among the other three candidate models and was followed by the FOMC model. The SFO displayed the largest root mean square …

Pendekatan Berdiferensiasi Pada Pelajaran Pendidikan Jasmani Olahraga Dan Kesehatan, Fatih Iqbal Maulana, Febrita Paulina Heynoek

Journal of Innovation and Teacher Professionalism

Differentiated learning particularly in health, sport and physical education is limited and rarely practiced by educators. Therefore, here we would like to evaluate research through a literature review on the use of differentiated instruction in teaching physical education, sport, and health. Then the purpose of writing this literature review is to (1) explain how the differentiated approach is done, (2) what happens when the differentiated approach is applied and why, and (3) the possibilities that arise when the differentiated approach is used in physical education, sports, and health education. After the scientific publications were analyzed, researchers used Google Scholar to …

Pharmacy Faculty Articles and Research

Background/Objectives: Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS), associated with long-term cannabinoid use, has been increasingly observed in emergency room visits as more states in the U.S. have legislatively permitted medical and recreational marijuana use. The acute management of CHS primarily focuses on antiemetic treatment and supportive care. However, both the condition itself and the antiemetic drugs, such as haloperidol, may cause QTc prolongation. Methods: We reported two adolescent cases admitted to the emergency department for acute antiemesis management of CHS who received haloperidol treatment. A literature review was performed through October 2024 for previously published cases of QTc prolongation and/or …

New Dominion, Old Tricks: A Review Of Virginia's 2024 General Assembly Session, Ryan Pokorny, Tucker Weiser

Richmond Public Interest Law Review

The 2024 General Assembly session followed a transformative election cycle. Democrats regained full control of the General Assembly after two years of split legislative power, thwarting Governor Glenn Youngkin’s efforts to secure a Republican trifecta. Redistricting drove unprecedented turnover, with more than one-third of lawmakers joining their respective chambers as newcomers in 2024. The remade General Assembly was the youngest in recent memory and the most diverse in Virginia history. These changes brought uncertainty and promises of cooperation, but the session soon descended into familiar partisan polarization. Governor Youngkin vetoed a record number of bills, while Democrats voted down many …

Reconsidering Griswold: Amid Post-Dobbs Threats To Reproductive Freedom, Youngkin Vetoes The Virginia Right To Contraception Act, Katie Baker, Christopher Fleming

Richmond Public Interest Law Review

In its 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the United States Supreme Court found that there is no constitutional right to an abortion, overturning nearly fifty years of precedent set by Roe v. Wade.

In his concurrence in Dobbs, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote that the Court “should reconsider” its past decision in Griswold v. Connecticut. The 1965 case found that married people have a constitutional right to contraception, which Eisenstadt v. Baird extended to unmarried individuals in 1972.

In response to Thomas’ words and to growing threats to reproductive freedom post-Dobbs, …

The General Assembly Must Act To Protect Victims Of Sexual Abuse Following The Supreme Court Of Virginia's Recent And Significant Circumscription Of Vicarious Liability, Mark D. Dix, Robert C.T. Reed

Richmond Public Interest Law Review

Few doctrines are as ingrained in the American civil justice system as that of vicarious liability: holding a principal liable for an agent’s tortious conduct. Public policy, further bolstered now by modern economic theory, provides the foundation for this doctrine. With respect to a principal’s liability for an agent’s intentional tort, the modern view has been to hold a principal just as liable for such an act as a negligent one. Virginia had largely been in step with this trend. However, beginning in 2018, the Supreme Court of Virginia reversed the Commonwealth’s course, particularly with respect to cases of sexual …

Manipal Journal of Medical Sciences

Primary Splenic Lymphoma (PSL) is a rare condition, which complicates its understanding and definition. The rarity of PSL has led to varied definitions: some consider it primary only if splenomegaly is predominant, while others include spleen involvement with hilar lymph nodes. Documentation on PSL is sparse in Indian literature. This case report of a 48-year-old woman, presenting with fever, weight loss, and left hypochondrium pain, and diagnosed with PSL through CECT abdomen and USG-guided biopsy, contributes to better understanding of the condition.
