Factors Affecting The Adoption Of Malaria Interventions For Pregnant Women In Tanzania: Tanzania Demographic Health Survey 2022, Melisa Nyamukondiwa, Asri C. Adisasmita, Renti Mahkota, Same Betera
Jurnal Epidemiologi Kesehatan Indonesia
Tanzania is endemic to malaria and pregnant women due to their vulnerability are among the high-risk groups. The adoption of malaria interventions targeted to pregnant women is affected by a number of factors. A cross-sectional study using secondary data from Tanzania Demographic Health Survey (TDHS) for 2022 was used. A logistic regression was used for bivariate analysis to identify factors affecting the adoption of malaria interventions during pregnancy in Tanzania. Data from pregnant women between 15 to 49 years (N=1408) were analyzed in this study. Insecticide treated nets (ITNs) and intermittent preventive therapy in pregnancy using sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine (IPTp-SP) were the …

Background: The Female Leadership Academy for Medical Excellence, members of the World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine, conducted this systematic review, which explores gender disparities in burnout among emergency physicians (EP) using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS). Burnout is a critical issue in healthcare, particularly in emergency medicine where high stress and demanding work environments prevail. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, we searched PubMed and Epistemonikos for studies using MBI-HSS to measure burnout in EPs. Inclusion criteria encompassed peer-reviewed, English-language articles reporting burnout by sex. Data extraction focused on proportions of burnout and its subcomponents, mean scores, and odds …

International Economic Agreements As Impediments To Carbon Tax Climate Change Mitigation: Is The Un Framework Tax Convention The Way Forward?, Edwin Vanderbruggen
Indian Journal of International Economic Law
This article outlines some of the international legal impediments to domestic environmental tax policies in furtherance of climate change mitigation, i.e. certain WTO rules on trade in goods, fuel tax exemptions in aviation treaties, and tax stabilisation provisions that are protected under the umbrella clause of investment treaties. It argues that international action is the most effective and often the only option to address those legal obstacles. The emergence of the United Nations Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation (‘FTC’) is, in that regard, a timely development. Given the central institutional role UN-related bodies already have in climate change, sea …
Advancing Prediction Of Stimulant Medication Misuse Through Graph Representation Learning, Hamid Razavi
Advancing Prediction Of Stimulant Medication Misuse Through Graph Representation Learning, Hamid Razavi
Theses
The misuse of stimulant prescription medications poses a significant and escalating public health concern in the United States, particularly among young adults. Addressing this issue requires sophisticated methodologies capable of uncovering complex patterns and relationships in data. Geometric Deep Learning, a paradigm designed to analyze data with non-Euclidean structures, has achieved remarkable success across various domains, offering a powerful framework for tackling complex graph structure data challenges.
This study leverages Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) to predict the likelihood of stimulant medication misuse using data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). Individuals are represented as nodes in …

Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
The increasing rate of cybervictimization has been documented in various countries, including Malaysia. However, there is a dearth of measurement tools with sound psychometric properties suitable for the Malaysian context. To address this methodological gap, the Malaysia Cybervictimization Scale for Adolescents (MyCVS-A) was developed based on qualitative inputs from adolescents in Malaysia. It was subsequently translated into Malay (MyCVS-A-M) and Chinese (MyCVS-A-C). Two studies were conducted to examine the psychometric properties of these two translated versions. In Study 1, 281 secondary school students completed the MyCVS-A-M, the Malay version of the cybervictimization subscale of the European Cyberbullying Intervention Project Questionnaire …

BAU Journal - Science and Technology
Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a significant global health issue. The Wnt signaling pathway, activated by mutations in APC and β-catenin genes, plays a crucial role in CRC development, leading to the activation of inflammatory pathways involving COX-2 and iNOS, as well as the continuous transcription of cell cycle-related genes promoting CRC pathogenesis. Annona muricata (A. muricata), a tropical tree with various biological activities, including anti-cancerous properties, was investigated for its potential effect on mice induced with colon cancer using 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH, 20 mg/kg) over 12 weeks, and treated with oral A. muricata extract (100 mg/kg, 5 days/week).

Worldwide, bone fractures are a major public health concern and, there is an urgent requirement to create new treatments to accelerate the rate of the bone healing process. This research mainly relies on creating a hydrogel that satisfies the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) and makes it a suitable medium to differentiate into osteogenic cells. We combine the BM-MSCs with a chitosan polymer-based hydrogel, infused with PVA to enhance bone healing, this unique mixture forms " Bioink ". We induced a closed fracture model in the rat's right humerus, followed by injection of a single dosage of bioink. On …

A study was conducted to assess the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) by dentists in Virginia and the factors influencing its adoption. The survey revealed that recent dental school graduates and those with adequate training were more likely to use SDF. SDF is valued for its ability to arrest caries and provide a minimally invasive treatment option, especially for patients with behavioral issues or severe dental anxiety. However, its use is deterred by concerns over aesthetics and effectiveness. The study highlights the need for increased training and better reimbursement to encourage wider adoption of SDF among dentists in Virginia.

Most Americans rely on Social Security for retirement support, but many do not fully understand the implications of when to start receiving benefits. Claiming benefits early at age 62 can reduce the overall amount, while delaying can increase it by 8% annually. Factors like health, life expectancy, and income needs should be considered. Full retirement age is between 66 and 67 for most. Widows and divorced individuals may be eligible for additional benefits. Consulting with an advisor is recommended to optimize Social Security benefits.
