An Overview Of Japanese Kampo: An Integrative Approach To Medicine, Olivia Yaste
An Overview Of Japanese Kampo: An Integrative Approach To Medicine, Olivia Yaste
Honors College Theses
There is a growing interest in the use of traditional medicine for the treatment of disease and health conditions around the world. The traditional medicine system of Japan has been in place for thousands of years and the traditional herbal system, Kampo, has been fully integrated into the modern national healthcare system. The compilation of information on topics surrounding Kampo written in English is scattered, making it difficult to gain a broad understanding of the subject without immense time and effort. This paper aims to review the existing literature on a variety of topics surrounding Kampo in order to give …
Electrocatalytic Performance Of S-Doped Fen4@Mwcnts Nanocomposites, Ronit Lavjibhai Chaudhari
Electrocatalytic Performance Of S-Doped Fen4@Mwcnts Nanocomposites, Ronit Lavjibhai Chaudhari
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
The thesis titled “Electrocatalytic Performance of S-Doped FeN4@MWCNTs Nanocomposites” explores the development of sulfur-doped iron-nitrogen-carbon nanotube (S-dopedFeN4@MWCNTs) nanocomposites as high-performance an electrocatalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). These reactions are crucial for technologies like fuel cells, metal-air batteries, and water-splitting systems, which are vital for renewable energy and hydrogen production.
The research demonstrates that S-doped FeN4@MWCNTs show significantly enhanced catalytic activity compared to traditional platinum-based catalysts and undoped FeN4@MWCNTs. Sulfur doping results in a lower overpotential for both OER and HER. For …

Improving Compliance In Missed Visits Documentation, Ma Rosalie Felix
Master's Projects and Capstones
Problem: Within the South Bay Hospice Agency, documentation compliance for missed visits was 68% in the first quarter of 2024, when the national standard should be 100% according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Context: Inadequate nurse documentation and communication between health professionals can lead to medical errors, poor team communication and suboptimal patient outcomes (Tasew et al., 2019). Therefore, the importance of documentation compliance is imperative. Hospice staff perform scheduled visits for terminally ill patients 1-2 times a week; however, a missed visit can occur when a patient declines it for a variety of reasons.

Master's Projects and Capstones
This paper explores the prevalence, causes, and consequences of PTSD resulting from childbirth, highlighting the need for effective intervention strategies. A systematic review of 25 studies encompassing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), pharmacotherapy, and support groups was conducted to evaluate their effectiveness. Findings indicate that CBT and EMDR are the most promising treatments, with pharmacotherapy and support groups also providing substantial benefits. However, access to these interventions remains a challenge for certain populations. This paper underscores the importance of tailored, trauma-informed care and suggests that comprehensive maternal mental health programs can significantly improve outcomes for mothers …

Master's Projects and Capstones
Implementation of a Quality Improvement (QI) project to help improve staff communication between shifts at an Inpatient Acute Psychiatric Unit was determined to be of immense need. This unit is part of a large acute medical hospital. Currently, the end of shift report consists of a verbal report along with a robust printed end of shift report consisting of shift related information. This printed end of shift report can have as many as seven to nine pages thus causing information overload and decreases prioritized patient information. Furthermore, missed information or too much information can be provided in the verbal shift …

On Topological Measures And Network Vulnerability Patterns: A Review And Comparative Analysis, Saviz Saei
Theses and Dissertations
Despite much hope for climate change to slow down or even reverse, younger generations face a future overshadowed by extreme events. The indisputable reality is that unless the United Nations establishes comprehensive and sustained climate justice policies, children today will experience five times more extreme events than those that took place a century ago. On Monday, July 3rd of 2023, an unprecedented peak in global temperatures was documented, marking the highest global temperature ever recorded, as the U.S. National Centers for Environmental Prediction reported. These increasing temperatures indicate the ongoing and intensifying phenomenon of climate change, which amplifies the frequency …

As we increasingly understand the impact that land management intensification has on local and global climate, the call for nature-based solutions (NbS) in agroecosystems has expanded. Moreover, the pressing need to determine when and where NbS should be used raises challenges to socioecological data integration as we overcome spatiotemporal resolutions. Natural and working lands is an effort promoting NbS, particularly emissions reduction and carbon stock maintenance in forests. To overcome the spatiotemporal limitation, we integrated life cycle assessments (LCA), an ecological carbon stock model, and a land cover land use change model to synthesize rates of global warming potential (GWP) …

USF St. Petersburg campus Honors Program Theses (Undergraduate)
The ocean provides many important economic, nutritional, and cultural resources and ecosystem services to human populations. However, many anthropogenic activities are threatening ocean ecosystems and these vital resources (Inniss et al., 2016). Ocean literacy is the knowledge, attitude, and behaviors that pertain to the ocean, its systems, and its relationships with humans (Brennan et al., 2019; Schoedinger et al., 2005). A key goal of ocean literacy is encouraging informed decisions and behaviors pertaining to the ocean, leading to responsible management and use of ocean resources (Santoro et al., 2018). Ocean attitudes and environmental moral reasoning are vital in influencing positive …

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) controls the movement of molecules into and out of the central nervous system (CNS). Since a functional BBB forms by mouse embryonic day E15.5, we reasoned that gene cohorts expressed in CNS endothelial cells (EC) at E13.5 contribute to BBB formation. In contrast, adult gene signatures reflect BBB maintenance mechanisms. Supporting this hypothesis, transcriptomic analysis revealed distinct cohorts of EC genes involved in BBB formation and maintenance. Here, we demonstrate that epigenetic regulator's histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) and polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) control EC gene expression for BBB development and prevent Wnt/β-catenin (Wnt) target genes …

The results of some scientific research show that organ transplantation, especially heart transplantation, causes changes in the patient’s personality and even memory. These changes can be due to the recovery of information stored in the donor’s molecules and cells. In fact, as in the orchestrated objective reduction model, information in the form of polarization or spin of molecules, electrons, and photons is stored in microtubules due to the connection between the brain and the heart through blood vessels and nerves, and waves. A copy of the information is stored in molecules and heart cells and possibly through the induction of …

Introduction
Nurse practitioner-led clinics (NPLC) represent a model of care that has the potential to enhance primary healthcare delivery to community-dwelling adults who are living with chronic disease by providing greater access and continuity of care and reducing the burden on acute care settings. However, there is limited understanding of nurse practitioners’ experiences and perspectives on supporting adults in chronic disease management within an NPLC model of care. Increased understanding would contribute to our ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the NPLC model of care for chronic disease management. Objective
