INTRODUCTION: The focus on social determinants of health (SDOH) and their impact on health outcomes is evident in U.S. federal actions by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Office of National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. The disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on minorities and communities of color heightened awareness of health inequities and the need for more robust SDOH data collection. Four Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) hubs comprising the Texas Regional CTSA Consortium (TRCC) undertook an inventory to understand what contextual-level SDOH datasets are offered centrally and which individual-level SDOH are collected in structured fields in each …

Comparing The Effectiveness Of Static And Dynamic Audiovisual In An Additional Geography Lesson In One Pathway College In Jakarta, Erni Adelina, Peny Meliaty Hutabarat
Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia
Students are now used to using audiovisual platforms to learn as they once were forced to adapt to this type of learning due to face-to-face lessons were impossible at that time because of the pandemic. Audiovisual learning resources came out sporadically to accommodate the needs of study at home or anywhere possible. The static audiovisual (enhanced podcast) and dynamic audiovisual (video) are two types of virtual platforms educators continuously harness to support their lesson teachings even though the face-to-face meetings have been allowed gradually. However, there are not many studies conducted to analyze whether one type is more effective in …

SANE journal: Sequential Art Narrative in Education
It is well known that a quality teacher education is necessary for qualified education. Teachers must be well-trained in multiple areas and have an open-minded structure. They must develop strategies based on the lesson and students, which needs effective material development and use. The materials to be used could be prepared by others and can be incorporated into the classroom setting or teachers could design and present them to students, which is essential for the quality of instruction. When a teacher creates and effectively employs instructional materials, his/her self-confidence will increase and teaching will be enriched and made easier. Comics …

Illustrating Thoughts & Feelings: Student-Produced Political Cartoons About Israel, Matt Reingold
SANE journal: Sequential Art Narrative in Education
This paper presents the findings of a qualitative study about the inclusion of arts-based assessment strategies in a 12th grade Israel education classroom. Students were tasked with producing a political cartoon that demonstrated their understandings of contemporary Israeli society. Data was collected from interviews and students' original artwork. The findings revealed that learning through the arts provided students with opportunities to think about and express their feelings about Israel in aesthetically complex and personal ways. The findings also demonstrated the importance of pre-assessment strategies like frequent exposure to the genre of political cartoons and conferencing before submission.

Biotic Interactions Vary Across Species' Ranges And Are Likely Conserved Through Geological Time, Iulian Gherghel, Ryan Andrew Martin
Faculty Scholarship
Aim: The evolutionary interactions between western spadefoot toads (genus Spea) represent a textbook example of character displacement, facilitated by dietary specialization of one Spea species on fairy shrimp (Anostraca) when all three co-occur. The aim of this study is to understand the covariation between predator (Spea) and prey (Anostraca) range shifts in response to climate change oscillations, and whether biotic interactions can be used to project species distribution models on different time scales when studying species with dietary specialization. Taxon: Amphibia: Spea spp. and Crustacea: Anostraca. Location: North America. Methods: Using multiple modelling techniques, we first estimated the potential distribution …
Daca, Mobility Investments, And Economic Outcomes Of Immigrants And Natives, Jimena Villanueva Kiser, Riley Wilson
Daca, Mobility Investments, And Economic Outcomes Of Immigrants And Natives, Jimena Villanueva Kiser, Riley Wilson
Upjohn Institute Working Papers
Exploiting variation created by Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), we document the effects of immigrant legalization on immigrant mobility investments and economic outcomes. We provide new evidence that DACA increased both geographic and job mobility of young immigrants, often leading them to high-paying labor markets and licensed occupations. We then examine whether these gains to immigrants spill over and affect labor market outcomes of U.S.-born workers. Exploiting immigrant enclaves and source-country flows of DACA-eligible immigrants to isolate plausibly exogenous variation in the concentration of DACA recipients, we show that in labor markets where more of the working-age population can …

The Gompertz Nadarajah-Haghighi (Gonh) Distribution Properties With Application To Real Data, Dalya Dh Ahmed, Mundher A. Khaleel
Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
In this study, we propose a continuous statistical distribution consisting of four parameters based on the Gompertz family called the Gompertz Nadarajah-Haghighi(GoNH) distribution.Adding parameters to the basic distribution provides the distribution with flexibility and efficiency in analysing real-world data. The model that was recently suggested has many mathematical and statistical properties. Explicit formulasfor its moments, moment-generating function, survival function, risk function, characteristic function, quantile function, expansion of pdf, and ordered statistics are only a few of the many mathematical and statistical features of the recently proposed model. The maximum likelihoodestimates (MLE)method was used to estimate the model’s parameters. We conducted varioussimulation …

Knowledge exchange (KE) is increasingly important in higher education internationally, yet relatively little attention has been paid to it as a pedagogic opportunity for students. This paper draws on 26 interviews with stakeholders within and outside HE to develop a model of student-led knowledge exchange as a guide for learning through KE. The model includes the following elements: Preconditions, Prior Knowledge, Planning and Place, Pedagogic Context and Product, and offers an analysis of different forms of KE which occur between individuals in a learning triad consisting of student, facilitator and external participant. The research foregrounds a social view of learning …

The opposing forces of gene flow and isolation are two major processes shaping genetic diversity. Understanding how these vary across space and time is necessary to identify the environmental features that promote diversification. The detection of considerable geographic structure in taxa from the arid Nearctic has prompted research into the drivers of isolation in the region. Several geographic features have been proposed as barriers to gene flow, including the Colorado River, Western Continental Divide, and a hypothetical Mid-Peninsular Seaway in Baja California. However, recent studies suggest that the role of barriers in genetic differentiation may have been overestimated when compared …
History In The Margins: Paratextual Notes In Codex Koridethi (Θ 038), Jonathan Campbell
History In The Margins: Paratextual Notes In Codex Koridethi (Θ 038), Jonathan Campbell
Andrews University Seminary Studies (AUSS)
In this article I examine the paratextual features of the ninth- century four-Gospel manuscript Codex Koridethi (Θ 038). I argue that a thorough study of this manuscript’s paratextual features gives fascinating insight into its history. There are thirty-three marginal notes contained within this manuscript, nine of which are in Greek, and twenty-four in Georgian. These notes are unusual because they do not relate to the biblical text. Instead, they attest to various prayers, endowments, and laws which the community found important enough to record in this holy book. The notes are broken down into three categories. First, several give historical …

A Review Of The Integration Between Geospatial Artificial Intelligence And Remote Sensing, Abeer A. Mohamad Alshiha
Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
Experts have extensively explored the advantages and applications of modern artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms across various domains. Geomatics data processing is no exception, as AI offers significant opportunities in this field. However, understanding how AI can be customized or developed to meet the unique requirements of geomatics data is crucial. Integrating AI techniques into geomatics has given rise to Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), a novel approach to uncovering geographicinformation. Nevertheless, there remains a shortage of comprehensive research on the specific applications of AI in geospatial contexts. Consequently, this study aimsto establish AI-based methodologies for the analysis and interpretation of complex …
