The metaverse is touted as the next phase in the evolution of the Internet. This emerging digital ecosystem is widely conceptualized as a persistent matrix of interconnected multiuser, massively scaled online environments optimally experienced through immersive digital technologies such as virtual reality (VR). This thesis explores the complex construction and performance of biracial identity within the context of the United States, delving into the historical and ongoing impacts of race and racism, and the pervasive influence of white supremacy. Through an autoethnographic approach, this study investigates how personal narratives illuminate the processes of biracial identity construction, expression, and negotiation across three social institutions: family, education, and media. The findings reveal the intricate and intersecting interactions that contribute to identity formation, highlighting the expansive nature of intersectionality. The first book in the form of a codex was bound around 300 BCE, but the earliest material used to record writing appeared around 3000 BCE. From these documents recording proto-writing of human history, people have sought to analyze and preserve writing, which continues as a contemporary work of scholars across multiple disciplines to form the field of the history of the book. Police communication sits at the unique intersection of risk communication, scientific and technical communication, and medical communication, as we see in forensic reports. In this dissertation, I examine the communicative underpinnings of forensic pathology and forensic engineering reports. I argue that there is not only an inherent link between the unpredictability of a written text and the reception of said text by both its intended and unintended audience, but also a link to the broader socio-cultural contexts. "The development of highly sensitive and efficient analytical methods utilizing advanced instrumentation is necessary to help improve disease diagnosis and therapeutics. A major neuro-consequence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is oxidative stress from the generation of reactive oxygen species and the depletion of antioxidant defenses. Alteration in concentrations of certain small molecules also occurs with the disease progression and can help understand TBI pathophysiology. Two analytical methods employing liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) were developed and validated to monitor the potential small-molecule TBI biomarkers at sub-ppb levels. This research investigates the influence of out-of-home (OOH) advertising value on consumer attitudes and purchase intention towards Samsung smartphones. Data were collected via an online survey from 304 male and female respondents, aged 25 to 60 years, residing in Bangkok, who had encountered at least one of Samsung's OOH advertisements, including outdoor, transit, and in-store advertisements, in the past week. The study reveals that all five dimensions of advertising value (i.e. informativeness, credibility, entertainment, irritation, and overall advertising value) significantly influenced attitude towards the advertisement while the credibility dimension was the sole dimension of advertising value impacting attitude towards the …

Prosocial behavior is vital for human interaction and organizational success. While previous research has demonstrated the role of perspective-taking in promoting prosocial behavior, this research integrates social hierarchies, power and status, to explore their combined effect on perspective-taking and prosocial behavior in organizational contexts. Two studies were conducted: an experimental study (Study 1, n = 211) and a survey study (Study 2, n = 296). Results from Study 1 showed that although power and status did not significantly influence perspective-taking, their interaction had a significant effect on prosocial behavior; specifically, participants with high power and low status were least likely …

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาภาพแทนของผู้หญิงที่นำเสนอผ่านมุกตลกในการ์ตูนบนเฟซบุ๊ก โดยใช้กรอบการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Content Analysis; QCA) ในการค้นหาหัวข้อ (theme) และเพื่อศึกษากลวิธีการสร้างความตลกขบขันของมุกตลกในการ์ตูนบนเฟซบุ๊ก โดยใช้ทฤษฎีทั่วไปของภาษาสื่ออารมณ์ขัน (General Theory of Verbal Humor; GTVH) ในการวิเคราะห์แหล่งความรู้ (Knowledge Resource; KR) 6 ประการ ซึ่งเป็นองค์ประกอบต่าง ๆ ที่ช่วยในการสร้างความตลกขบขัน ได้แก่ ความขัดแย้งของตัวบท (Script Opposition) กลไกทางตรรกะ (Logical mechanism) สถานการณ์ (Situation) เป้าหมายในการล้อเลียน (Target) กลวิธ๊ในการบรรยาย (Narrative strategy) รูปภาษา (Language) โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากเพจเฟซบุ๊ก “เบื่อเมีย” และ “ฟอร์มหมาแก่” จำนวน 87 ตัวอย่าง ผลการวิจัยพบว่ามุกตลกในการ์ตูนบนเฟซบุ๊กนำเสนอภาพแทนของผู้หญิงจำนวน 5 หัวข้อ ได้แก่ การควบคุมจัดการ การแสดงออกทางอารมณ์ การรับประทานอาหาร การดูแลรักษารูปร่างหน้าตา และการใช้เงิน การนำเสนอผู้หญิงในลักษณะดังกล่าวนี้สะท้อนให้เห็นภาพแทนผู้หญิง (โดยเฉพาะในฐานะภรรยา) ว่าเป็นคนกินเก่ง ขี้โมโห เอาแต่ใจ บงการผู้ชาย ทั้งยังมีรูปร่างที่ไม่น่าดู ภาพแทนของผู้หญิงในลักษณะนี้ถูกนำเสนอผ่านตัวบทของความตลกขบขันซึ่งอาศัยความขัดแย้งของตัวบท (SO) เป็นองค์ประกอบที่โดดเด่นที่สุดที่มุกตลกในการ์ตูนช่องบนเฟซบุ๊กใช้ในสร้างความตลกขบขัน โดย SO ทำงานร่วมกันกับกลไกทางตรรกะ (LM) เสมอ อีกทั้งความตลกขบขันยังมักเกิดจากการทำงานร่วมกันของแหล่งความรู้ (KR) หลายประการด้วย

Cheating And The Effect Of Promises In Indian And German Children, Patricia Kanngiesser, Jahnavi Sunderarajan, Jan K. Woike

Cheating is harmful to others and society at large. Promises have been shown to increase honesty in children, but their effectiveness has not been compared between different cultural contexts. In a study (2019) with 7- to 12-year-olds (N = 406, 48% female, middle-class), voluntary promises reduced cheating in Indian, but not in German children. Children in both contexts cheated, but cheating rates were lower in Germany than in India. In both contexts, cheating decreased with age in the (no-promise) control condition and was unaffected by age in the promise condition. Research specific to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) among individuals of Hispanic and Latin American (H/L) ancestry is limited, as are culturally relevant assessment and treatment recommendations. This article discusses the implications of underrepresentation of H/L populations in OCD research and emphasizes the need to consider issues related to assessment, treatment, and structural barriers that hinder delivery of culturally appropriate first-line psychotherapy. Recommendations for assessment and treatment are provided to aid clinicians in distinguishing culturally normative thoughts and behaviors from OCD, as well as to inform the implementation of psychotherapeutic interventions with cultural humility. In the context of nuclear proliferation, strategic culture can significantly impact a country’s willingness to pursue nuclear weapons and how it calculates the risks and benefits of such a decision. Femvertising, the practice of integrating feminist messaging into advertising, has emerged as a powerful strategy for challenging gender stereotypes and promoting women's empowerment. However, its adaptation in Southeast Asia poses unique challenges due to the region's diverse cultural and religious norms. This research investigates how semiotic resources in Femvertising campaigns from Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore construct empowerment narratives while addressing local cultural contexts. This study investigates the social impact of non-utilitarian art collecting practices on the empowerment of Indonesian women artists. By examining the collection of Indonesian non-utilitarian collector Konfir Kabo and curating the exhibition Bodies in Balance, it analyzes how non-putilitarian art collecting can serve as a mechanism for feminist empowerment. The research argues that collection practices oriented toward non-commercial values offer effective means to address the structural imbalances faced by Indonesian women artists within both art history and the art market. This scoping review synthesizes a decade of research on the role of Expressive Arts Therapy (EAT) in enhancing emotional regulation among adults raised by authoritarian caregivers. Guided by Arksey and O’Malley’s five-stage framework with the PRISMA-ScR reporting checklist, 43 peer-reviewed studies were identified across five electronic databases. The findings demonstrate that EAT, across five modalities (visual art, creative writing, music, dance/movement, and clay work), consistently fosters emotional awareness, strengthens distress tolerance, and supports the adaptive regulation of emotions. Multimodal and body-based approaches were especially effective for individuals whose early environments suppressed emotional expression. The review highlights EAT’s potential as a …

Homelessness in Canada remains a wicked social problem that often intersects with compounding forms of marginalization. The criminalization of homelessness and living life in the public sphere explain, in part, why this population is likely to interact with the criminal justice system. The purpose of this study was to explore how the theme of queer liberation can be represented in young adult fantasy novels. I conducted an in-depth analysis of the novel Rainbow Islands (Devin Harnois) utilizing the lenses of queer, transgender, intersectional, and narrative theory. In the novel Rainbow Islands, Harnois presents a utopia in which queer people are able to counter their oppressive realities by building systems of community that support one another; yet, the novel ends up replicating systems of oppression. This thesis explores how the long-running Japanese manga One Piece functions as a radical political archive that reflects, critiques, and reimagines global politics across three historical eras. Drawing from the fields of International Relations and Development Studies, this research analyzes how the manga stages fictional yet deeply resonant struggles over power, freedom, and justice. Through close readings of key narrative arcs—Alabasta, Skypiea, Enies Lobby, Marineford, Dressrosa, and Wano—this study situates One Piece within real-world political contexts including post–Cold War liberal triumphalism, the global War on Terror, and the protest movements of the 2010s. วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทของสื่อในสถานการณ์ความขัดแย้งทางการเมือง พ.ศ. 2563 - พ.ศ. 2565 (2) เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบและวิธีการนำเสนอข้อมูลข่าวสารที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการชุมนุมของสื่อแต่ละสำนักจาก พ.ศ. 2563 - พ.ศ. 2565 โดยการศึกษาในเชิงคุณภาพ ด้วยแนวทางการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา (Content Analysis) ประกอบกับการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาซ่อนเร้น (Latent Content) และการวิจัยเอกสาร (Documentary Research) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทของสื่อจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 7 สำนัก ผลการศึกษาพบว่า สื่อทั้ง 7 สำนักมีความโน้มเอียงทางการเมือง (Political Orientation) เป็นของตนเอง โดยมักนำเสนอข่าวสารไปในทิศทางที่ตอบสนองจุดยืนทางการเมืองของตน ประกอบกับการเติบโตขึ้นของเทคโนโลยี ทำให้ภูมิทัศน์ของสื่อส่วนใหญ่ในปัจจุบันอาศัยแพลตฟอร์มดิจิทัลเป็นช่องทางหลักในการนำเสนอข้อมูลข่าวสาร ซึ่งมีโอกาสก่อให้เกิดปรากฏการณ์ห้องเสียงสะท้อน (Echo Chamber) อันเป็นผลมาจากระบบอัลกอริทึมของแพลตฟอร์มดิจิทัล ส่งผลให้ผู้รับข้อมูลข่าวสารอาจได้รับข้อมูลเพียงแง่มุมเดียวและอาจเป็นหนึ่งในปัจจัยที่ก่อให้เกิดความขัดแย้งทางการเมืองในปัจจุบัน นอกจากนั้นสื่อยังมีบทบาทสำคัญอย่างยิ่งในการกล่อมเกลาทัศนคติ ความเชื่อ และชุดความคิดของปัจเจกบุคคล ผ่านการใช้วิธีการวางกรอบ (Framing) เนื้อหาของข่าวที่จะนำเสนอ และการกำหนดวาระข่าวสาร (Agenda-Setting) ซึ่งแม้ว่าข้อเท็จจริงของเหตุการณ์จะเป็นอย่างไร สื่อมีเครื่องมือและวิธีการในการโน้มน้าวให้ผู้รับข้อมูลข่าวสารเห็นคล้อยตามความโน้มเอียงทางการเมืองของสื่อนั้น ๆ ด้วยเหตุนี้การศึกษาสื่อในฐานะหนึ่งในผู้แสดงทางการเมือง (Political Actor) จึงมีความสำคัญอย่างยิ่งต่อการทำความเข้าใจปรากฏการณ์ความขัดแย้งที่เกิดขึ้นภายในสังคมไทย

Emotion recognition is an important aspect of affective computing that has many applications including human computer interaction and mental health care. In this thesis, Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KANs) are explored for the purpose of multimodal emotion recognition from EEG (Electroencephalogram) and eye movement signals of the SEED-V dataset. งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของอิทธิพลของความเกี่ยวพันบุคคลที่มีชื่อเสียงและคุณค่าตราสินค้าต่อความตั้งใจในการเยี่ยมชม ตราสินค้าจุดหมายปลายทางค่ายเพลงเกาหลี โดยตั้งสมมติฐานว่าความเกี่ยวพันบุคคลมีชื่อเสียงและคุณค่าตราสินค้ามีอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อความตั้งใจในการเยี่ยมชม และความเกี่ยวพันบุคคลมีชื่อเสียงส่งผลต่อคุณค่าตราสินค้าจุดหมายปลายทาง งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งเติมเต็มช่องว่างองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับบทบาทของค่ายเพลงในการสร้างแบรนด์จุดหมายปลายทาง และสามารถประยุกต์ใช้กับการพัฒนาการท่องเที่ยวเชิงวัฒนธรรมในไทย การวิจัยใช้ระเบียบวิธีเชิงปริมาณ เก็บข้อมูลจากแฟนคลับชาวไทยจำนวน 400 คน ที่ชื่นชอบศิลปินจาก SM หรือ YG และรู้จักสถานที่ KWANGYA@SEOUL หรือ The SameE โดยใช้แบบสอบถามปลายปิดผ่านออนไลน์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยสถิติเชิงพรรณนาและการถดถอยพหุคูณที่ระดับนัยสำคัญ .05 ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ความเกี่ยวพันกับศิลปินและคุณค่าตราสินค้าจุดหมายปลายทางมีอิทธิพลต่อความตั้งใจในการเยี่ยมชม โดยความผูกพันทางอารมณ์ของแฟนคลับเป็นแรงผลักดันสำคัญ งานวิจัยเสนอให้ส่งเสริมนโยบายการท่องเที่ยวเชิงแฟนคลับ และออกแบบแบรนด์จุดหมายปลายทางที่เชื่อมโยงผู้บริโภคกับศิลปินในระดับจิตใจ

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ศึกษาโรงอาบน้ำในแต่ละวัฒนธรรม รวมถึงวัฒนธรรมไทย เพื่อเข้าใจถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงวิถีการอาบน้ำจากพื้นที่สาธารณะมายังพื้นที่ปิด โดยใช้กรอบทฤษฎีของมิเชล ฟูโกต์ (Michel Foucault) จากงานเขียน The History of Sexuality, Volume 3: Care of the Self และ Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison เพื่ออธิบายปรากฏการณ์ “โรงอาบน้ำ” ในสังคมไทยภายใต้มิติการดูแลตนเอง และ “วินัย” ประกอบกับข้อมูลจากการลงพื้นที่เก็บข้อมูลภาคสนามและฐานข้อมูลสถานบริการประเภทอาบน้ำ ชี้ให้เห็นว่าโรงอาบน้ำที่ปรากฏอยู่ในปัจจุบันได้รับอิทธิพลจากวัฒนธรรมต่างประเทศ ทั้งตะวันออกและตะวันตก จึงเกิดคำถามในการวิเคราะห์ว่า แนวคิดของฟูโกต์สามารถสะท้อนถึงมิติการดูแลตนเอง และวินัยในโรงอาบน้ำได้อย่างไร, โรงอาบน้ำของตะวันตกและตะวันออกมีลักษณะแบบไหน แตกต่างกันอย่างไร, และโรงอาบน้ำแบบไทยน่าจะมีลักษณะอย่างไร การทบทวนวรรณกรรมเน้นการศึกษาแนวคิดทางสังคมวิทยาและวัฒนธรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการอาบน้ำในมิติต่างๆ อาทิ ประวัติศาสตร์ สถาปัตยกรรม รวมถึงการวิจัยและวิทยานิพนธ์ที่เกี่ยวข้อง จากการศึกษา ผู้วิจัยพบว่าแนวคิดการดูแลตนเองและความมีวินัยของฟูโกต์ ยังเชื่อมโยงโรงอาบน้ำที่ไม่ใช่เพียงมิติสุขภาพ ยังสะท้อนถึงมิติอื่นๆ นำไปสู่การออกแบบวิธีการเก็บข้อมูลเพื่อใช้ศึกษาแนวทางออกแบบโรงอาบน้ำสาธารณะของไทยร่วมสมัย จากผลการศึกษาผู้วิจัยเสนอให้การออกแบบโรงอาบน้ำสาธารณะในบริบทไทยร่วมสมัยควรตั้งอยู่บนความเข้าใจในเชิงสังคมวัฒนธรรมและเชิงจริยธรรม โดยอาศัยเครื่องมือในการเก็บข้อมูลแบบมีส่วนร่วมอย่างเกมการ์ดสองมิติ และสามมิติเพื่อให้เกิดแนวทางการออกแบบที่สอดคล้องกับพฤติกรรม วิถีชีวิต และคนในสังคมไทย

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ (1) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความตระหนักในความแตกต่างหลากหลายทางศาสนาก่อนและหลังการเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดวัฒนธรรมศึกษา และ (2) ศึกษาพัฒนาการความตระหนักในความแตกต่างหลากหลายทางศาสนาของนักเรียนที่เรียนรู้ด้วยกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดวัฒนธรรมศึกษา ซึ่งการวิจัยครั้งนี้มีลักษณะเป็นการวิจัยเชิงทดลองตัวอย่าง คือ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ของโรงเรียนแห่งหนึ่งสังกัดสำนักงานคณะกรรมการส่งเสริมการศึกษาเอกชน (สช.) 24 คน ได้มาจากการเลือกแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ (1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ตามแนวคิดวัฒนธรรมศึกษา จำนวน 25 ครั้ง ครั้งละ 30 นาที (2) แบบบันทึกเชิงสะท้อนคิดแบบมีโครงสร้าง และ (3) แบบวัดเชิงสถานการณ์เพื่อวัดความตระหนักในความแตกต่างหลากหลายทางศาสนา สถิติที่ใช้เพื่อวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ สถิติเชิงบรรยาย คะแนนพัฒนาการสัมพัทธ์ และสถิติเชิงอนุมาน คือ Dependent Sample t-test และใช้การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนที่เรียนด้วยกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ดังกล่าวมีคะแนนความตระหนักในความแตกต่างหลากหลายทางศาสนาหลังเรียน (M = 13.42, S.D. = 0.881) สูงกว่าก่อนเรียน (M = 4.5, S.D.=2.554) อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 (t = 15.2; p < .001) นักเรียนทุกคนมีพัฒนาการของคะแนนความตระหนักในความแตกต่างหลากหลายทางศาสนา โดยนักเรียนมีพัฒนาการระดับปานกลาง จำนวน 1 คน มีพัฒนาการระดับสูง จำนวน 4 คน มีพัฒนาการระดับสูงมาก 19 คน และเมื่อวิเคราะห์พัฒนาการของนักเรียนจากบันทึกเชิงสะท้อนคิดสามารถจำแนกได้ 3 แก่นสาระ ได้แก่ (1) นานาสาระศาสนปฏิบัติ คือ การเรียนรู้ประเด็นที่หลากหลายเกี่ยวกับศาสนาและความเชื่อ (2) อัตวิสัยในมิติศาสนา คือ การนำความรู้เกี่ยวกับศาสนาและความเชื่อต่าง ๆ ไปสู่การปฏิบัติตนในฐานะผู้ที่นับถือและศรัทธาในศาสนาและความเชื่อนั้น ๆ และ (3) ปรับตัวเป็น เห็นคุณค่าศาสนาในพหุสังคม คือ การเรียนรู้ศาสนาเพื่อทำความเข้าใจความแตกต่างหลากหลายทางศาสนาเพื่อการปรับตัวและสามารถอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติได้
