Evaluating The Efficacy Of An Early Vaccination Strategy After Farrowing Using A Modified Live Prrs Vaccine And Post-Weaning Challenge With Thai Hp-Prrs, Apichart Prapattanakullawong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a major pathogen responsible for substantial economic losses in the global swine industry, adversely affecting both reproductive and respiratory health. In Thailand, early PRRSV infections in suckling and nursery pigs are commonly observed, necessitating the implementation of early vaccination strategies. However, early vaccination in young piglets has been controversial due to concerns about interfering maternal-derived antibodies (MDA) and the competency of the piglets' immune system. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of a modified-live virus (MLV) PRRS vaccination in early-age piglets from PRRSV-positive farms by assessing immune responses …

Machine Learning To Predict Outcome Of Inulin Supplementation In Children And Adolescent Obesity From Gut Microbiome Profile And Clinical Factors, Vitavat Aksornkitti
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Obesity is a non-communicable disease that arises from multiple factors, including lifestyle behaviors, dietary habits, and genetics. Despite the growing prevalence of obesity, traditional interventions such as increased physical activity and changes in diet and lifestyle often fail to achieve sustainable, long-term weight loss. Therefore, more effective strategies are needed to address this condition. Recent studies have highlighted the role of gut microbiota in obesity, illustrating that the obesogenic effects are transferable via fecal microbiota transplantation. However, research in this area has been limited, particularly among children in developing countries such as Thailand. Early studies have shown that variations in …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study investigates the effect of real-time data visualization on user performance and experience during treadmill running. Traditional treadmill displays usually present information in plain text, which may limit user engagement and motivation. To address this, the study introduced redesigned displays using data visualization techniques aligned with human perception, such as line graphs and progress bars, to make performance feedback more meaningful and easier to understand. The experiment compared three display conditions: a traditional treadmill display and two improved designs. A within-subjects design was used with 18 participants. Performance metrics such as time to exhaustion, heart rate, distance covered, and …

Pentastomiasis, a neglected zoonotic parasitic disease caused by tongue worms (subclass Pentastomida), presents significant diagnostic challenges due to its non-specific clinical manifestations, the limitations of conventional diagnostic methods, and the absence of standardized molecular diagnostic tools. This study aimed to identify Armillifer tongue worms isolated from a human case in Northern Thailand through both morphological and molecular approaches and to evaluate the feasibility of molecular diagnosis using less invasive clinical specimens. Morphological identification was performed via gross examination, morphometric analysis, histopathological evaluation, and scanning electron microscopy, revealing features consistent with A. moniliformis. Species confirmation was achieved using multi-locus PCR and …

Scalp Fast Oscillations As A Predictor For Epilepsy In Adults With First Unprovoked Seizure, Wichuta Muangthong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background: Patients with a first unprovoked seizure (FUS) carry different risks of recurrence, making management uncertainties arise. Low sensitivity of the conventional electroencephalography (EEG) findings limits practical usefulness. Novel application of scalp fast oscillations (SFOs) in prediction of recurrence has been recently studied; however, none has been conducted in adults. Method: 15-minute artifact-free recording was used for detection of SFOs. Time-frequency analysis with fast Fourier transform was conducted using Nihon-Kohden Neurofax® wide-band analysis software. Total number and frequency (Hz) of the SFOs, either superimposed on sharp/spike (SFOSs) or appearing in isolation (ISFOs), were calculated for each patient. Outcome was seizure …

Analysis Of The Soft Tissue Chin Profile In Acceptable Aesthetic Profiles Using A 3-Dimensional Camera Facial Scan System Compared To Normative Values Based On 2-Dimensional Radiographic Analysis, Sasawat Putpinij
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Chin profile plays a critical role in determining lower facial aesthetics, significantly affects perceptions of facial balance and attractiveness. Conventional assessment methods, which primarily rely on two-dimensional cephalometric norms, are limited by projection errors and a reduced capacity to accurately evaluate soft tissue contours. The development of three-dimensional facial scanning technology has facilitated more accurate assessment of facial morphology; nevertheless, aesthetic evaluation in acceptable aesthetic profile using 3-dimensional camera facial scan remains no evidence. Hence, this study aimed to investigate soft tissue chin profiles in clinically acceptable facial aesthetics using a three-dimensional camera system, comparing with traditional two-dimensional cephalometric values. …

The Effect Of Multimedia Information About Computer-Assisted And Freehand Dental Implant Surgery On Patients’ Knowledge, Anxiety, And Decision-Making, Veerawit Lukkanasomboon
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study aimed to evaluate the impact of multimedia and verbal information on patients' knowledge, anxiety, and decision-making regarding dental implant surgery, focusing on comparing computer-assisted and freehand techniques. This randomized controlled trial involved 100 patients divided into two groups: one receiving multimedia information (n=50) and the other receiving verbal information (n=50). Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires assessing patients' baseline information, knowledge, anxiety, and decision-making before and after receiving information about dental implant surgery techniques. Results showed significant increases in knowledge scores for both groups, with the multimedia group improving from 1.96 to 3.90 (p<0.001) and the verbal group from 2.0 to 3.98 (p<0.001). Anxiety levels decreased significantly in both groups, with reductions from 12.76 to 11.48 (p=0.001) in the multimedia group and from 13.92 to 12.16 (p<0.001) in the verbal group. The proportion of patients who decided to proceed with dental implant surgery increased from 70% to 78% in the multimedia group and from 54% to 66% in the verbal group. After receiving the information, more patients in both groups opted for computer-assisted implant surgery, though treatment costs remained a significant concern for some, leading to declines in surgery acceptance. Despite these findings, no significant differences were observed between the multimedia and verbal groups regarding knowledge improvements, anxiety reduction, or decision-making. In conclusion, multimedia and verbal information effectively enhanced patient knowledge and reduced anxiety about dental implant surgery, and both methods may influence patients' decisions regarding their preferred implant technique, with no significant differences between the two methods.
Leveraging Gpt-4 For Thai Land And Building Tax Calculation In The Bangkok Area, Sadanan Arsaibun
Leveraging Gpt-4 For Thai Land And Building Tax Calculation In The Bangkok Area, Sadanan Arsaibun
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This paper explores the application of large language models (LLMs), particularly GPT-4, in the context of Thai land and building tax computation. We address challenges arising from the complexity of Thai tax regulations, the scarcity of Thai-language training data, and the structured, multi-variable nature of tax computation tasks. To enhance model performance, we employ few-shot prompting, decomposition-based reasoning, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). We further introduce a JSON-style output format to support structured conversational interactions, allowing the model to identify missing user inputs and guide data collection. A secondary o3-mini pass is used as an answer verifier, helping to assess the …
