Investigation Of Small-Scale Aerospike Nozzles For Cold Thrust Applications, Mohamed Hassan Almansoor
Investigation Of Small-Scale Aerospike Nozzles For Cold Thrust Applications, Mohamed Hassan Almansoor
Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses
The aerospike engine appears to be a vision for engineers who are constantly seeking to better rockets in a world where one percent improvement is considered a massive growth. Aerospike nozzles are a very promising option and a near-term alternative of the conventional de Laval nozzles in the world of propulsion systems. Up to date there have been a few aerospikes that have advanced to this point at time. However, none have been used or utilized on a rocket nor any application to date. The aerospike nozzle capabilities are relatively more advanced than the conventional de Laval nozzle due to …

In this brief mentoring corner article, we focus on defining what different editorial decisions mean (e.g., accept with revisions; revise and resubmit; reject: revise and resubmit), discussing factors you might consider when deciding what to do after receiving a decision (e.g., resubmit or move on) and considering how to best approach the revisions. We also provide guidance on effective communication with editors, including an example of a successful response to review table and cover letter.

Emergent Design Thinking, Rigorous Research, And Perseverance: Comments From A Keynote Address, John H. Hitchcock
Mid-Western Educational Researcher
This invited article is a follow-up to the 2022 keynote address given to the Midwestern Education Research Association. This article reviews national, contemporary challenges to conducting applied education research. It also reviews broad principles that might help one continue to conduct high-quality research, namely: embracing emergent design thinking, flexibility, and perseverance.
Using Intercultural Sensitivity To Predict Culturally Responsive Classroom Management Self-Efficacy Among Preservice Teachers, Christopher M. Estepp, Jennifer G. Beasley, Stephen R. Burgin, Donald M. Johnson
Using Intercultural Sensitivity To Predict Culturally Responsive Classroom Management Self-Efficacy Among Preservice Teachers, Christopher M. Estepp, Jennifer G. Beasley, Stephen R. Burgin, Donald M. Johnson

As student diversity increases, it is imperative that Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) prepare preservice teachers to manage these classrooms. Educators are expected to possess the skillset, experience, and confidence necessary to engage diverse students from varying cultural backgrounds. Thus, intercultural sensitivity is an important affective trait for teachers, however, the connection between intercultural sensitivity and self-efficacy for culturally responsive classroom management has not been well documented in the preservice teacher literature. In this study, one mid-southern university examined the relationship between preservice teachers’ perceptions of their intercultural sensitivity and their self-efficacy for tasks related to culturally responsive classroom management. …
Examining The Digital Divide In Education During Covid-19 From Teachers’ Perspectives, Elife Ceviker, Tuba Gezer
Examining The Digital Divide In Education During Covid-19 From Teachers’ Perspectives, Elife Ceviker, Tuba Gezer
Mid-Western Educational Researcher
The outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in unprecedented school closures in education, leading online education to become “the new normal.” Concurrently, emergency online instruction further exacerbated what is known as the digital divide, one of the contributing factors to inequality of educational opportunities. The purpose of our research is to examine in what ways the digital divide influences teachers and students during COVID-19. A better understanding of teachers' perceptions of teaching online and the digital divide can offer more information for effective teaching during the pandemic. In this multi-method study, researchers collected data from 36 teachers through Likert scale questions …

On Some Teratological Scorpions In The Natural History Museum, London And Checklist Of The Scorpiological Literature On Morphological Anomalies (Arachnida: Scorpiones), Danniella Sherwood, Luis F. De Armas
Euscorpius
Whilst undertaking curation in the collections of the Natural History Museum, London, the senior author came across a jar of scorpions marked ‘scorpions with curled feet’. Further investigation showed this jar was full of scorpions with teratological anatomy. We hereby document and illustrate all of the specimens and discuss their respective anomalies. Furthermore, a comprehensive checklist of the literature on anomalies in scorpions, including giving the life stage and sex where known, is compiled for the benefit of future workers.

Shaping An Inclusive Lis Workforce: Insights From Information Professionals, Rajesh Singh
Urban Library Journal
This study investigates how information professionals deliver culturally sensitive services, their experiences in serving patrons from diverse cultural backgrounds, their self-perceived intercultural skills, and their views on addressing cross-cultural challenges in the workplace. The sample, comprised of 125 information professionals representing a range of organizations, including libraries, museums, and archives, reveals a noticeable trend in their perceptions regarding their ability to provide culturally responsive services and their cultural competence skills. These perceptions are significantly influenced by their participation in cultural competence-related educational programs and academic preparation for cross-cultural work. The research findings provide fresh insights into the integration of diversity, …

One embodiment includes a method performed by an authentication provider. The method includes receiving a sensitive information from a user. For example, the sensitive information may include payment data or a healthcare data of the user. The method includes transmitting the sensitive information to a processing server and receiving a long living token associated with the sensitive information from the processing server. The authentication provider stores the long living token. The method further includes the authentication provider receiving, from a resource provider, a request for a subset of the sensitive information. The method includes transmitting the subset of the sensitive …

Online content posted by amateur content creators may not be of sufficient quality to drive engagement. For example, such content may have audio or video glitches. Viewer feedback can indicate the problems with user-generated content. This disclosure describes techniques that analyze viewer comments and/or the user-generated content to generate prompts for a generative AI model. With permission from content creators, the capability of generative artificial intelligence models to execute audio-enhancement tasks such as volume equalization, noise reduction, audio filtering, etc. and video-related tasks such as video smoothing, video stabilization, etc.is utilized via the generated prompts to automatically improve their content. …
