The potato crop is prone to infection by an estimated 50 different categories of pests and diseases whose causal agents are either viruses, bacteria, nematodes, insects, or fungi (Hussain and Singh, 2016; Jansson and Raman, 2019; Mangal et al., 2022; Munyaneza and Bizimungu, 2022). These pathogenic organisms are either soil or air-borne and usually inflict harm on all plant parts. The most commonly encountered diseases that affect potato growth and development include common scab, dry rot, black scurf, late blight, stem canker, premature deaths, and a wide array of nematodes. African swine fever (ASF) caused by ASF virus (ASFV) is an infectious transboundary animal disease notifiable to the World Organization for Animal Health causing high mortality in domestic pigs and wild boars threatening the global domestic pig industry. To date, twenty-four ASFV genotypes have been described and currently genotypes II, IX, X, XV and XVI are known to be circulating in Tanzania. In Senegal, stock recovery and fish classification are based on manual data collection, and the fish caught by the fishery are not often declared. What's more, data collection suffers from a lack of tools for monitoring and counting fish caught at fishing docks. Researchers have carried out studies on the fishery in Senegal, but data collection is almost non-existent. Moreover, there is no local fisheries database or automatic detection and counting algorithm. Air pollution is a critical problem in densely populated urban areas, with traffic significantly contributing. To mitigate the adverse effects of air pollution on public health and the environment, there is a growing need for the real-time monitoring and detection of pollution spikes in transportation. This paper presents a novel approach to using Internet of Things (IoT) edge networks for the real-time detection of air pollution peaks in transportation, specifically designed for innovative city applications. Nanoremediation emerges as a promising technology for mitigating soil contamination, encompassing various nanotechnology applications, including chemical degradation, Fenton-type oxidation, photocatalytic degradation, immobilization, and integration with bioremediation techniques like phytoremediation. In addressing soil pollution, the most extensively researched nanomaterials (NMs) are based on carbon, metal and metal oxide, nZVI, and other nanocomposites. Nevertheless, limitations accompany the use of NMs in soil remediation. This study investigated the defluoridation efficiency of hydroxyapatite-activated seaweed (Eucheuma Cottonii) biochar (HSB) at various soil pH ranges (3–11) while monitoring the impact of contact time (30 min - 2.5 h), adsorbent dosage (0.1–0.5 g) as well as the initial fluoride concentration and compare its performance to its respective seaweed biochar (SB). Activation of SB with the hydroxyapatite lead to a shift in its point-zero-charge (pHPZC) from 6 to 7.4 broadening its defluoridation pH range from a solitary 5 to amid 3 through 11.
