Pre-Service Teachers’ Epistemological Understanding Of The Language Of Instruction: Can Education Policy Stop Kiswahili In Tanzania’S Classrooms?, John Misana Biseko
Pre-Service Teachers’ Epistemological Understanding Of The Language Of Instruction: Can Education Policy Stop Kiswahili In Tanzania’S Classrooms?, John Misana Biseko
Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
Language-in-education policies in Sub-Saharan Africa is a topic that has attracted several researchers. The adoption of alien languages as legitimate languages of instruction is a matter that has been seriously challenged. Since the 1960s, the debate in Tanzania has been on which language qualifies for the status of LOI. The answers have been favouring either the alien language (English) or the dominant language (Kiswahili). In 2014 the government launched the education policy, which declares both English and Kiswahili as LOI in post-primary education. In the 2023 edition, the policy was changed to declare English as the sole LOI in post-primary …
Language Contest In The Linguistic Landscape Of Sabasaba International Trade Exhibitions In Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Emmanuel Ilonga
Language Contest In The Linguistic Landscape Of Sabasaba International Trade Exhibitions In Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Emmanuel Ilonga
Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
This inquiry stems from the scarcity of research on linguistic landscape particularly on the intersection between physical landscape, business fairs, and languages in Dar es Salaam. Essentially, it discusses the complexities of linguistic signs at the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) in Tanzania. The central purposes are grounded in the roles of information and symbolism, power dynamics, group identities, language policies, and rationale for the use of specific languages at the fair. Photographic method was employed in the generation of data. The analysis of data was framed in line with informational and symbolic frameworks, and structuration principles. The …

A Morpho-Semantic Description Of Adjectives In Kipangwa, Emmanuel Hauli, Rafiki Sebonde, Chrispina Alphonce
Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
This paper presents the characteristics of a lexical category adjective in Kipangwa. The lexical category adjective is proposed to be universal, but its realisation varies across languages. This paper offers evidence to authenticate the presence of an independent lexical category adjective in Kipangwa. The study employed a qualitative approach in generating data, analysing the data and reporting the findings. The data for this study were collected through text collections, both spoken and written. Spoken texts/ sentences with adjectives were collected from 18 informants by recording them through a digital audio recorder, while written texts were collected from two (2) Bible …

But He Did Not Commit Incest…!” A Comparative Analysis Of Utenzi Wa Nyakiiru Kibi And Oedipus Rex, Angelus Mnenuka
Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
Human beings share commonalities, many of which are intricately woven into literature. Literary works allow individuals to explore and gain insights into diverse cultures and ideas across spatiotemporal contexts. Against this backdrop, this study compared two literary works, Oedipus Rex (Sophocles, 1992) and Utenzi wa Nyakiiru Kibi [‘Epic of Nyakiiru-Kibi’] (Mulokozi, 1997), to gain insight into the two societies from which the stories are derived. Using Aarne and Thompson’s (1961) classification of the Oedipus story, the study finds that Utenzi wa Nyakiiru Kibi qualifies as an Oedipal story as it meets several Oedipal narrative motifs in the Oedipus story. The …

Mathematical Models And Calculation Of Parameters Of Optoelectronic Angular Displacement Converters, Yuriy Gennadyevich Shipulin, Azimjon Khusanov
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
The article discusses promising optoelectronic converters (OP) for wide application of angular movements. A methodology and diagram for calculating OP with the transverse movement of a moving element is presented; in order to simplify the calculation, the weight range of angular movements is conventionally divided into three sub ranges. A graph is given of the dependence of the area of the photosensitive surface of a photo resistor made from a single crystal of high-resistivity p-type silicon.

Surgical Approaches For Thoracic Outlet Decompression In The Treatment Of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Stijn B. J. Teijink, Jens Goeteyn, Niels Pesser, Bart F. L. Van Nuenen, Robert W. Thompson, Joep A. W. Teijink
2020-Current year OA Pubs
Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a controversial and uncommon syndrome. Three different diagnoses can be made based on the compressed structure: arterial TOS, venous TOS, and neurogenic TOS. Diagnosing TOS, especially neurogenic TOS, remains difficult since a single diagnostic tool does not exist. Although this resulted in a lot of confusion, standardization of care and outcome improved daily care practice measures in the last decade. Current treatment algorithms consist of both conservative and surgical treatment approaches, which should be chosen depending on the type of TOS and extend of the complaints. Surgical treatment of TOS is performed via thoracic outlet …

Journal of General - Procedural Dermatology and Venereology Indonesia
Background: Lichen amyloidosis (LA) is characterized by linear rows of firm, pigmented, grouped, hyperkeratotic papules that can form a plaque, usually occurring on the shins and forearms, with intense itch as the prominent symptom.
Case Illustration: A 57-year-old female complained of brown spots on her shins and arms that gradually thickened six years ago. The lesions were brown, multiple, discrete, slightly scaly papules forming hyperpigmented plaques. The result of the histopathology examination showed an acanthotic epidermis with hyperkeratotic foci and eosinophilic amorphous mass deposits in the papillary dermis with brown pigments. The working diagnosis was lichen amyloidosis. Topical …

Data Simulation Testing Framework For Complex Process Equipment Software, Jinkun Zhang, Longfei Shi, Chi Hu, Hao Zhang, Yonghui Yang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Due to the complex task, tight coupling, strict timing, and a large amount of interchange data, the technical threshold of automated testing of bus communication equipment software is high, and the implementation is difficult. The ideas of data-driven testing and keyword-driven testing are introduced, and a data simulation testing framework is proposed. Configuration rules are formulated and implemented in the framework. Testers can simulate peripheral data for complex process equipment software and implement automated testing by only focusing on the task analysis, and configuring interchange data and keywords. There is no need to develop test scripts, which reduces the …

Urban Uav Path Planning Based On Improved Beetle Search Algorithm, Qingqing Yang, Minyi Deng, Yi Peng
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: An improved SABAS is proposed to improve the safety and path smoothing of UAV missions in urban multi-obstacle environments and to obtain the shortest path. The algorithm no longer completely depends on the difference of odor concentration between the left and the right tentacles of beetle when exploring the path for position update. Instead, it makes full use of the strong searching ability of BAS algorithm, and introduces the annealing algorithm to add the neighborhood position solution of the next position, and finally selects the next best position from the neighborhood position solution. Metropolis criterion of annealing algorithm is …
