One-Pot Iodine-Mediated Synthesis Of Cannabinol And Derivatives, Mongkonkorn Thanakorncharoenwit Jan 2023

One-Pot Iodine-Mediated Synthesis Of Cannabinol And Derivatives, Mongkonkorn Thanakorncharoenwit

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Cannabinol (CBN) is a minor cannabinoid that exhibits a broad range of medicinal activities without psychoactive effects. CBN derivatives have been typically synthesized from a terpenoid and a resorcinol derivative, through a multistep reaction including the Friedel-Crafts alkylation, cyclization, and aromatization. In this study, we envisioned that iodine could act as a Lewis acid catalyst and an aromatization agent. Consequently, we developed a one-pot iodine-mediated reaction between (1S,4R)-p-menthadienol and 5-(1,1-dimethylheptyl)resorcinol for the synthesis of 3-(1,1-dimethylheptyl)cannabinol (DMH-CBN). Various reaction parameters were evaluated, and the reaction yields were analyzed by quantitative 1H NMR. The optimized reaction conditions were found to be 1.5 …

Development Of Duplex Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (Dlamp) For Detection Of Carbapenem Antibiotic-Resistant Genes Kpc And Ndm, Nindi Syahputri Lubis

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Carbapenems are regarded as a last-resort option for treating a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections. Unfortunately, the prevalence of carbapenem-resistant genes has been on the rise among patients. Some factors contribute to this trend, including prolonged hospital stays, prior antibiotic usage, inappropriate or insufficient antibiotic treatment, and contamination through wounds or feces. The emergence of carbapenem-resistant (CR) genes gained significant attention, particularly after 2005. These CR genes are frequently carried on mobile genetic elements such as plasmids or transposons, enabling their transmission to other bacteria. Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) and New delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM) stand out as …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Human hands are unparalleled in their dexterity, precision, and versatility, making them ideal models for robotic systems. Conventional robotic hands with standard joints cannot fully replicate human hand biomechanics, often resulting in increased weight, cost, and complexity. The primary objective is to develop a robotic finger that closely mimics anthropomorphic characteristics using computer-aided design (CAD) and rapid prototyping technology and to analyze its force and motion behaviors. The underactuated hybrid design combined soft and rigid elements and emphasizes passive adaptability to achieve dexterity. Rolling contact joints were applied to replicate varied rotational axis biomechanics. Springs and tendon routes were integrated …

Effect Of Brønsted And Lewis Acid On Ni-Based Bifunction Catalyst On Hydroprocessing Of Palm Oil To Biojet Fuel, Settapong Kantangkul Jan 2023

Effect Of Brønsted And Lewis Acid On Ni-Based Bifunction Catalyst On Hydroprocessing Of Palm Oil To Biojet Fuel, Settapong Kantangkul

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Jet fuels are mainly generated by refining petroleum feedstock, resulting in the emission of greenhouse gases. Therefore, biojet fuel is proposed as an alternative solution for solving this issue. Hydroprocessing of vegetable oils is an efficient pathway for producing biojet fuel. This process includes three reaction which are hydrodeoxygenation, hydrocracking and hydroisomerization over metal-acid catalyst. Biojet fuel series ranging from C8 to C16 must have a freezing point around -47 °C or lower, requiring the use of iso-paraffins which have low freezing points. There are challenges in improving the quantity and quality of biojet fuel production. This study aims to …

The Expression Of Incretin Hormones And Their Receptors In The Submandibular Glands Of Offspring From High Fat Diet-Fed Mother Rats, Pornchanok Sangsuriyothai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Incretins, i.e., glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) promote insulin secretion to reduce postprandial blood sugar. Previous studies found incretins in the salivary glands in rat. However, the role of GLP-1 and GIP in the submandibular gland (SMG) is unclear. This study investigates the effects of a high-fat diet (HFD) on the expression of GLP-1 and GIP throughout the development of rat SMG. Pregnant 11-week-old rats were divided into standard diet and HFD groups (n = 5 each). The newborns were divided into four subgroups (n = 6): standard diet males, HFD males, standard diet females, and HFD …
