Dnp Final Report: Vascular Access In Burn Patients: An Evidence-Based Practice Project, Amanda Venable

DNP Final Reports

Vascular access in burn patients is a challenging aspect of care that affects the healthcare team and patients daily. The goal in this evidence-based practice project at a southern United States burn center was to improve the quality of the vascular access process by reducing the use of Central Venous Lines (CVL) and unsuccessful venipuncture attempts. The following practice question was formed: In hospitalized burn patients (P), how does a vascular access team with ultrasound-guided peripheral IV capability (I) compared with no vascular access team and standard IV insertion (C) affect central line days (O1) or patient experience (O2) during …

Cultivating Sense: Cultural Change In The Prosecutor's Office, Shih-Chun Steven Chien

Minnesota Journal of International Law, Vols. 28:2 onward (2019-present)

Prosecutors exercise broad discretion. They are widely viewed as the gatekeepers of the criminal justice system. To date, studies on prosecutors in different jurisdictions have largely focused on how to conceptualize, manage, and eventually control the exercise of prosecutorial discretion. Scholars have recently turned their attention to the importance of internal organizational management and leadership’s role in changing office culture as a means to regulate prosecutorial discretion. But we have limited empirical evidence as to how changes occur within a prosecutor’s office and what precise role organizational leaders play during this process. This Article constructs a new paradigm for the …

2023 Scotus Report: Americans Reacted With Disgust And Sadness Toward The Scotus' Recent Rulings, Yi Luo, Bond Benton, Jin-A Choi, Keith Strudler, Keith Green

College of Communication and Media Scholarship and Creative Works

On June 29, SCOTUS struck down affirmative action, ruling the race-conscious admissions programs at colleges and universities unconstitutional. Then, on June 30, SCOTUS handed down another landmark ruling which outlawed student loan forgiveness and terminated President Biden’s plan to provide student loan reliefs for tens of millions of Americans. This high court’s decision on student loans will likely affect one in eight Americans, leaving student loan borrowers feeling frustrated, defeated, and angry. As online media have increasingly played a central role in facilitating civic engagement and shaping individuals’ decisions on contested issues, this study thus examines how social media users …

T2DM currently affects an estimated 462 million people globally (equal to 6.28% of the world’s population), including more than one out of every 10 Americans (American Diabetes Association [ADA], 2018; CDC, 2022; Khan et al., 2020). The Relationship Between Customers’ Satisfaction And Trust In The Global Supply Chain And Profitability, Azeal Gilham Jan 2023

The Relationship Between Customers’ Satisfaction And Trust In The Global Supply Chain And Profitability, Azeal Gilham

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The inability to meet customer demands and expectations impacts an organization’s profitability. Understanding and meeting customer needs are critical for the financial success of business owners. Grounded in the theory of constraints, the purpose of this quantitative ex post facto study was to examine the relationships between customers’ satisfaction and trust in the supply chain and profitability. Secondary data (n = 121) were collected from the Elsevier Research Database using archival data collected from an automotive factory. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression, and the results were statistically significant, F (2, 118) = 264.347, p < .001, R2 = .90. In the final model, both predictor variables were significant, customers’ satisfaction: mean wait time (t = 22.991, p < .001, β = 16.23); and customers’ trust: minimum stock level (t = 7.306, p < .001, β = .118). A key recommendation is for business leaders to satisfy customers and gain their trust by creating sufficient inventory stocking levels and improving replenishment timeframes that meet customers’ supply chain demands. The implications for positive social change include the opportunity for supply chain managers to develop an effective supply chain that may contribute to the quality of service that promotes success in regional markets, sustain growth, and allows for social development among the local community workforces.

Shifting The Paradigm Toward Intent To Stay: Creating A Nurse Career Crafting Program To Increase Nurse Engagement In An Urban Teaching Hospital, Jaclyn Davis

Yale School of Nursing Digital Theses

Nearly 50% of all RNs experience job disengagement, dissatisfaction, and signs of burnout during their career (National Academy of Medicine, 2019). RN burnout is largely the corollary of two predominant themes: perception of engagement in meaningful and motivating work and perception of personal ability to disconnect and decompress (Press Ganey, 2018). Job crafting skills guide people to make meaning of their work in difficult context, and their experience of work as a job, career, and calling. These skills help nurses align their strengths, motives, and passions within their roles. This DNP Project developed a Career Crafting Program using a modified …

A fetus is considered breech when the presenting part is the buttocks, foot/feet, or hips. Annually, approximately 5% of all pregnancies in the United States (U.S.) are breech at term (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2021). While the number of vaginal breech deliveries has been trending downwards since the 1970s, the rate dropped precipitously in 2000 after the Term Breech Trial (ACOG, 2020; Freeze, 2019; Hunter, …
