Assessing The Influence Of The Imposter Phenomenon On Critical Leadership Competencies: Conceptual Framework Proposal, Theresa Bowen, Petrus A. Botha
Journal of Research Initiatives
Will the imposter phenomenon influence critical leadership competencies, specifically decision-making self-efficacy, and innovative work behavior? This prospective study will propose a framework to investigate the impact of the imposter phenomenon on essential leadership skills, focusing on exploring whether self-esteem acts as a mediating factor. The research will seek to evaluate the potential effects of the imposter phenomenon on leadership competencies, such as innovative work behavior and decision-making self-efficacy, among managers in South Africa. The significance of this proposed investigation stems from a recognized gap in previous studies addressing the relationship between the imposter phenomenon and these leadership skills within the …

The Relationship Between Bureaucracy And Developments In Management Accounting, 1700-2023: An Overview, Helena Costa Oliveira, Russell Craig, Lúcia Lima Rodrigues
Jurnal Akuntansi dan Keuangan Indonesia
Bureaucracy has co-existed with forms of management accounting [MA] from the time of ancient civilizations. In this paper, we review literature in a wide variety of scholarly journals and books to provide an overview of this co-existence. We trace the historical evolution of MA and how it was influenced by bureaucracy from 1700 to the present. We do so through four time periods, designated classical, modern, post-modern and contemporary. For each of these periods, evolving understandings of bureaucracy were linked to changes in the practice and conceptualization of MA. In the classical period (1700 – 1950), developments in MA corresponded …

Trauma-Informed Supervision: The Supervisory Needs Of Mental Health Therapists Engaged In Trauma-Related Work, Erynne H. Shatto, James Stefurak Ph.D., Amy E. Rinner, Lacy M. Kantra
Journal of Counselor Preparation and Supervision
We present the need for therapists who engage in trauma-specific work to receive trauma-informed supervision or consultation. This is based on the findings that the emotional labor required of trauma-specific work is high and increases a therapist’s risk for experiencing negative impacts from their work such as vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, unhelpful transference/countertransference, reminders of their own trauma, and burnout. Further, clients incur risks of receiving iatrogenic care when therapists engaged in trauma-related work are not given appropriate job related resources and/or receive ineffective supervision. We discuss a model for trauma-informed supervision, including supporting theory and initial guidelines for supervisors’ …

A Critical Policy Analysis Of Kentucky School Districts’ Trauma-Informed Education Plans, Tommy Wells, Alexandra J. Taylor, Amy Lein
A Critical Policy Analysis Of Kentucky School Districts’ Trauma-Informed Education Plans, Tommy Wells, Alexandra J. Taylor, Amy Lein
Kentucky Teacher Education Journal: The Journal of the Teacher Education Division of the Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children
The Commonwealth of Kentucky has taken its first steps in creating trauma-informed K-12 schools through passing the School Safety and Resiliency Act of 2019. School districts were tasked with developing trauma-informed education plans by July 2021. However, the Commonwealth’s mandate gave broad autonomy to school districts in shaping their trauma-informed education plans’ processes and content. Through a critical policy analysis design, this study examined the availability and quality of trauma-informed education plans from each school district in Kentucky and compared them to the trauma-informed framework developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. Findings indicate that only 19 out of …

Policy Points The implementation of large-scale health care interventions relies on a shared vision, commitment to change, coordination across sites, and a spanning of siloed knowledge. Enablers of the system should include building an authorizing environment; providing relevant, meaningful, transparent, and timely data; designating and distributing leadership and decision making; and fostering the emergence of a learning culture. Attention to these four enablers can set up a positive feedback loop to foster positive change that can protect against the loss of key staff, the presence of lone disruptors, and the enervating effects of uncertainty. Context: Large-scale transformative initiatives have the …

Leadership And Facilitating An Intercollegiate Athletic Department Merger, Lisa A. Kihl, Vicki Schull
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics
Leadership is an important aspect in facilitating an organizational merger. Research indicates that each merger presents a different objective and thus a variety of challenges that require different forms of leadership. Further, the merger type and merger stage influences leadership required to facilitate the merger process. This study examined merger challenges and leadership employed to assist an intercollegiate athletic department merger. Using a single qualitative case study design (i.e., interviews with 57 stakeholders and documents), the findings showed transition leadership challenges included an absence of leadership and stakeholder uncertainty, and the central integration leadership challenge was strategic planning. Transition leadership …

Upstalsboom - An Example Of Caring Economics, Silvia Hedenigg, Bodo Janssen
The Journal of Values-Based Leadership
In recent years, innovative approaches to corporate culture and leadership, such as the concept of "New Work" and its meaning and value-oriented corporate management, are gaining attention in science and organizational practice. However, critical voices doubt their feasibility citing challenges associated with their benefit realization. Nevertheless, through a case study of Upstalsboom, a German medium-sized family business in the tourism industry, the authors of this article illustrate how a people-centered, meaning-oriented corporate culture, and values-based leadership are not only possible and successful, but also sustainable from a crisis-resistant stability and resilience perspective. A reconstruction of the company's development along biographical …

People, Processes, Systems, And Leadership — Keys To Organizational Performance, Cam Caldwell, Khalfan R. Al Asmi, Zulaikah Albusaidi, Rayan Esmaail
The Journal of Values-Based Leadership
Current evidence about successful organizations emphasizes the importance of integrated organizational factors that combine to convey a consistent message to employees that is the essence of an effective organizational culture (Beer, 2009; Shein & Schein, 2016). Although there is much that is positive about the achievements that some organizations are making to create a sustainable organizational culture, there is also overwhelming evidence that organizations and their leaders are struggling to earn the commitment and followership of their employees (Clifton & Harter, 2019; Edelman, 2023).

The Western Channel Observatory (WCO) comprises a series of pelagic, benthic and atmospheric sampling sites within 40 km of Plymouth, UK, that have been sampled by the Plymouth institutes on a regular basis since 1903. This longevity of recording and the high frequency of observations provide a unique combination of data; for example temperature data were first collected in 1903, and the reference station L4, where nearly 400 planktonic taxa have been enumerated, has been sampled on a weekly basis since 1988. While the component datasets have been archived, here we provide the first summary database bringing together a wide …

On The Scanlon Plan And Servant-Leadership, Paul W. Davis, Larry C. Spears
International Journal of Servant-Leadership
For 75 years, Joe Scanlon, the Scanlon Plan, and Scanlon-led companies had a robust run in the world of business, aided by the Scanlon Leadership Network. Over time, the number of Scanlon companies declined, and in 2013 the Scanlon Leadership Network, Foundation, and Consultancy ceased to exist. And for the past 53 years, servant-leadership has been growing in practice and influence around the world. This article in The International Journal of Servant-Leadership is adapted from a book that we created and published in 2008 titled, Scanlon EPIC Leadership, published by the Scanlon Foundation. Sections of the paper include an overview …

Servant-Leadership In The Military: An Investigation Of Servant-Leadership Among Technical Sergeants In The United States Air Force, Tracey M. Richardson, Matthew P. Earnhardt, Tori Morris, Steven M. Walker
International Journal of Servant-Leadership
Servant-Leadership, developed by Greenleaf (1970), is a leadership theory which prioritizes the follower. Greenleaf contended that putting others first as leaders could lead to a change in society. Patterson (2003) developed a model from Greenleaf’s theory which identified several attributes of the Servant-Leadership model including agapao love, humility, altruism, vision, trust, empowerment, and service. In the military, researchers have used Patterson’s construct to conclude that Servant-Leadership does exist in the military. Though some research involving Servant-Leadership and the military has been conducted, there is a dearth in the literature. In the United States Air Force, leadership development for Non-Commissioned Officers …

Sustainability is a subject dominated by topics involving the environment and economy. An overlooked pillar is that of the socio-political sphere, as it is a subgenre of sustainability that involves a wide range of variables. Fortunately, there exists a multitude of ways one can relieve social tensions, but unfortunately, as socio-political issues are much more complex to measure. Our current Latin/US-based issues are rooted in racism, colonialization, and imperialism. These past wrongs have affected Latin American countries' development in that corruption, economic instability, violence, lack of education and poverty are the outcomes that push people into migrating. Latin American migrants …
