Introduction: Current numerical rating scales for pain mostly measure symptom intensity. There is a need to develop outcome measures reflecting the multifaceted nature of pain. The purpose of this study is to describe the development and validation of the Pain Progress Measure (PPM), which is an outcome measure intended to capture the holistic nature of pain.

Introduction: Physical therapy interns of Silliman University reported limited exposure to the application of joint mobilization techniques during their clinical internship training program. DNA methylation is an epigenetic modification that regulates gene expression and is essential to establishing and preserving cellular identity. Genome-wide DNA methylation arrays provide a standardized and cost-effective approach to measuring DNA methylation. When combined with a cell-type reference library, DNA methylation measures allow the assessment of underlying cell-type proportions in heterogeneous mixtures. This approach, known as DNA methylation deconvolution or methylation cytometry, offers a standardized and cost-effective method for evaluating cell-type proportions. Since the recent passing of legislation allowing student-athletes to profit from their own personal brands and sponsorships (Name, Image, and Likeness; NIL), there has been very little research. The purpose of this study was to measure the attitudes and support students have towards the financial compensation of their student-athlete counterparts. The researchers surveyed 67 Coastal Carolina University students. Using a quantitative study, data was gathered pertaining to the opinions toward NIL, feelings of team affiliation, and demographic information. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in both men and women and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths when men and women are combined. CRC survivors are living longer with an increase in 5-year survival, rising from 52% in the 1980s to 62% in the 2000s. Ewing sarcoma (EWS) is the second most common bone malignancy in children and adolescents. Despite improvement in survival due to advances in multimodality treatment strategies, patients with metastatic or recurrent disease have very poor outcomes. Overexpression of the EPS15 Homology Domain containing 1 (EHD1) protein has been linked to tumorigenesis but whether its core function as a regulator of intracellular traffic of cell surface receptors plays a role in oncogenesis remains unknown.

Purpose: The article aims to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the companies included in the WIG.GAMES5 index that is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, for the period 2019–2021. Design/Methodology/Approach: In order to conduct the study quarterly and annual financial statements were used. The financial condition was examined by ratio analysis, while the valuation was carried out using financial multipliers’ analysis. Indicators illuminating whole-of-community and setting system physical activity (PA) outcomes and drivers are needed to inform population health improvement efforts. This multi-study dissertation examines inequalities in PA resources, opportunities, and outcomes and the factors influencing inequalities across multiple temporal and geospatial scales (e.g., community, setting). First, a scoping review examined community-level variability in PA resource and opportunity availability by community sociodemographic characteristics (e.g., race). Across 46 included studies, 41 unique indicators characterizing community PA systems were identified, and 29.8% of relationships assessed indicated greater resource/opportunity availability in communities of higher socioeconomic status or lower minority population prevalence. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic, autoimmune disease primarily characterized by perpetual synovial inflammation that results in synovial tissue proliferation and fibrosis (pannus). Although joint involvement is the predominant manifestation of RA, extra-articular features, such as interstitial lung disease (ILD), contribute significantly to the elevated mortality associated with the condition. Post-translational modifications play a significant role in RA and RA-ILD pathogenesis. Circulating anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPAs) are a highly diagnostic tool implicating a potential role for citrullinated antigens in RA and RA-ILD.

Schistosomiasis is a significant human disease caused by the helminth parasite Schistosoma mansoni. Praziquantel remains the only clinically used treatment, yet it is rapidly metabolized and only effective against the adult stage worm infection. Ro 13-3978 (AR02) is a potent antischistosomal compound with activity against multiple S. mansoni life stages; however, it manifests anti-androgenic activity. Additionally, the mechanism of action for worm clearance remains unknown. The structure of Ro 13-3979 was used to generate optimized derivatives, including AR102, that show increased potency towards worms, reduced off-target anti-androgen effects, and extended half-life thereby increasing the feasibility for a single-dose curative treatment. …

The extent of burnout within the profession of physical therapy remains relatively unexplored despite the widespread national attention given to burnout among other healthcare professionals. The purpose of this pilot study was to describe the current state of burnout of physical therapists in Nebraska using a multiple methods approach.
The quantitative phase of the study utilized a cross-sectional design and survey to measure burnout levels and identify associated characteristics of 407 practicing physical therapists in Nebraska. This thesis examined the sublethal effects of three pollutants, namely glutaraldehyde, 4,4-dimethyloxazolidine (DMO), and abandoned mine drainage (AMD), on amphipods. The primary objective was to investigate their combined effects on amphipods. The three pollutants, despite having the potential to combine in the environment, have not been studied to determine their potential for detrimental interactive effects which could result in unexpected environmental damage.

Introduction: Although older adults visit emergency departments (EDs) more than any other age group, the trajectories of healthcare utilization older adults experience post-ED are not well described. Further, whether rapid ED assessment tools can predict trajectories and discharge destinations remains unclear.
Methods: Older adults (≥65 years) who presented to an ED at a large Canadian urban academic hospital were recruited (January 2018-April 2019). The interRAI ED Screener (EDS) was completed on presentation. Patients were categorized by EDS risk score (1/2=low, 3/4=moderate, 5/6=high) and had their discharge destinations tracked. Metformin (MET), an oral antidiabetic drug, was reported to possess promising anticancer effects. We hypothesized that MET encapsulation in unique nanospanlastics would enhance its anticancer potential against HEP-2 cells. Our results showed the successful fabrication of Nano-MET spanlastics (d = 232.10 ± 0.20 nm; PDI = 0.25 ± 0.11; zeta potential = (−) 44.50 ± 0.96; drug content = 99.90 ± 0.11 and entrapment efficiency = 88.01 ± 2.50%). MTT assay revealed the enhanced Nano-MET cytotoxicity over MET with a calculated IC50 of 50 μg/mL and > 500 μg/mL, respectively.
