A Model For Assessing Organizational Culture In Intercollegiate Athletic Departments, Peter J. Schroeder
A Model For Assessing Organizational Culture In Intercollegiate Athletic Departments, Peter J. Schroeder
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics
Beyer and Hannah (2000) have suggested that a major barrier to the reform of intercollegiate athletics is its cultural significance in higher education. Even leaders within the National Collegiate Athletic Association have acknowledged the need for culture change in intercollegiate athletics (Brand, 2001; Dempsey, 2000). Yet major culture change has not occurred and few studies have examined culture within intercollegiate athletic departments (Ridpath, 2008). This gap may be due, in part, to the lack of a framework with which to analyze athletic departments as organizational cultures. Schein’s (2004) model of organizational culture is the most frequently cited perspective in the …

Machine Learning Based Identification Of Trending Videos By Location And Topic, Joseph Johnson Jr., Quinn Thuy Tran
Machine Learning Based Identification Of Trending Videos By Location And Topic, Joseph Johnson Jr., Quinn Thuy Tran
Defensive Publications Series
Video content discovery is important to provide user satisfaction to users of online video hosting/sharing and social media platforms. In some cases, such platforms may curate automatic playlists of popular videos. However, such playlists may not accurately reflect currently popular trends in particular regions. This disclosure describes the use of machine learning techniques to automatically analyze videos, including short form videos, to associate one or more locations to the video (e.g., creation location, popular-at locations, etc.) as well as to assign topics or categories to the video (e.g., dance type A, magic trick B, etc.). The topics may be discovered …
A Source-Critical Analysis Of The Synoptic Resurrection Accounts, Austin W. Blunt
A Source-Critical Analysis Of The Synoptic Resurrection Accounts, Austin W. Blunt
Masters Theses
This thesis applies the Four-Source Hypothesis to the study of the resurrection accounts in the Synoptic Gospels. Scholars have addressed the Synoptic Problem in a variety of ways. Some have sought to harmonize the Gospels into one cohesive narrative, while others have concluded that the writings are contradictory and irreconcilable. Addressing the challenges associated with the Synoptic problem, this study evaluates the claims that each Gospel writer makes about the resurrection of Christ while assessing the unique characteristics and points of emphasis in each account. The resurrection narratives are used as a case study because of their importance to Christianity …
Traditional Vietnamese Music And Its Incorporation Into Christian Worship, Elijah Khang Chau
Traditional Vietnamese Music And Its Incorporation Into Christian Worship, Elijah Khang Chau
Masters Theses
The thesis addresses the concern of incorporating traditional Vietnamese instruments into Christian worship. Most worship done in Vietnamese churches in the US is primarily westernized, and it lacks cultural elements to reflect the Vietnamese culture. Another concern is that the younger generation does not know much about Vietnamese culture; this is an issue because many Vietnamese descents do not know which culture they belong to. The idea behind traditional Vietnamese instruments incorporated into Christian worship will encourage Vietnamese churches to use Vietnamese traditions to further God’s Kingdom so that the Vietnamese congregation can worship and glorify God in their native …

African Influence In The Bible: A Sub-Saharan Response To The Gospel And The Divine Prerogative Of African Incorporation In God’S Redemptive Plan, Robert Milton Bugg Jr.
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The Bible presents God's magnificent divine plan, executed by chosen people for a specific purpose. There are illustrations of those from various regions impacting those worldwide throughout the Bible. While much of the Old Testament takes place in ancient Mesopotamia, the magnitude of God’s plan is global. This dissertation will examine sub-Saharan people groups in Africa, particularly the Kushites and ancient Ethiopians. The discussion will include the history of Africans in the ancient world, their migration and development parallel to recorded biblical history, and their role in the Bible. Scholars utilize many different terms when referring to Kushites, depending on …

Distribution, Characteristics, And Hydrostratigraphy Of Pleistocene And Pliocene Fluvial-Terrace And Alluvial Deposits In Central And Southern Shelby County, Tennessee, Md Saddam Hossain
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
This study examined Pleistocene and Pliocene fluvial-terrace and alluvial deposits in Shelby County, Tennessee, with a focus on understanding the relationships between these deposits and subsurface water flow. The Pliocene Upland Complex was identified as a high-level terrace associated with the ancestral Mississippi-Ohio River system that caps the interfluves areas throughout Shelby County. Three Pleistocene terraces were identified - the Intermediate, Hatchie, and Finley, which are found at progressively higher elevations above the modern floodplains of West Tennessee Tributaries (WTT). The Intermediate terrace shows limited distribution, mainly as paleochannels, which do not follow the current east-to-west following WTT. The Hatchie …
A Mixed-Methods Inquiry Into Pastors' Knowledge And Responses To Human Trafficking In Their Congregations In The Baptist Convention Of Maryland/Delaware, Denise A. Beck
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to discover the knowledge of human trafficking of the pastors in the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware churches and their responses to this crime. The guiding theory was the words of Jesus in Exodus: Chapter 3 concerning slavery and the tribulations of Israelites. A questionnaire provided enlightenment regarding the levels of knowledge in the church communities, how pastors viewed it, the methods by which they received the information, and how they responded to it. This study reflected a gap in the knowledge of pastors in their congregations. The data were collected through emails and …

Perceptions Regarding Drinking Water Quality And Its Effects On Human And Animal Health Among Plain-Sect Community Members, Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Parmveer Singh, Sharmistha Basak
Journal of Amish and Plain Anabaptist Studies
The quality of drinking water can affect human and animal health, and plain-sect populations may be more susceptible than other rural populations due to their use of traditional farm management practices and their reliance on well water. Therefore, an interdisciplinary team conducted a pilot study to understand the status of existing drinking water quality, community perceptions regarding causes of water deterioration, its associated effect on human and animal health, and solutions to address such challenges. The study included water testing and a focus group discussion with plain-sect community members. The findings revealed that participants perceived the drinking water quality as …
Extinguish Teacher Burnout To Ignite School And Classroom Connectivity, Brandon Quinn Mr.
Extinguish Teacher Burnout To Ignite School And Classroom Connectivity, Brandon Quinn Mr.
Georgia Association for Positive Behavior Support Conference
Schools across the state and the nation face a significant concern in the education profession. Many educators are leaving the teaching field or seriously considering leaving earlier than expected. Couple this with the growing problem of new teacher retention, and anyone can see that our beloved institution is heading towards a major crisis if we are not already involved in one. One of the main culprits of the woes in education is teacher burnout. Developing a strong climate and culture in a classroom is very challenging for an educator experiencing burnout. In the “Extinguishing Teacher Burnout and Ignite School and …
“Homes For Ukraine”: Gendered Refugee Hosting, Differential Inclusion, And Domopolitics In The United Kingdom, Megan Crossley
“Homes For Ukraine”: Gendered Refugee Hosting, Differential Inclusion, And Domopolitics In The United Kingdom, Megan Crossley
Journal of International Women's Studies
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, many Ukrainians have been displaced and sought refuge in other European countries, including the United Kingdom. Analyzing newspaper articles, public opinion polls, and emerging reports on the scheme, I argue that this policy draws on a particular conception of home, blurring the distinctions between private and public forms of hospitality towards certain kinds of migrants. In this moment of intensified public engagement with border politics, through a crisis displacing primarily women, this essay considers the “Homes for Ukraine” scheme as an overt manifestation of gendered domopolitics. In comparing the response to …
Performance Art As A Site Of Socio-Spatial Resistance: Challenging Geographies Of Gendered Violence, Egle Karpaviciute
Performance Art As A Site Of Socio-Spatial Resistance: Challenging Geographies Of Gendered Violence, Egle Karpaviciute
Journal of International Women's Studies
By researching the intersections of art, geography, and violence, this paper interrogates performance art and its capacity to question one’s gendered existence in space/place. Through an analysis of two performance art pieces—J. Hawkes’s Playing Kate (2018) and Cassils’s PISSED (2017)—I explore the connections between art, gendered bodies, and space/place, while establishing a link between and across feminist and trans* gendered tyrannies. While discussing feminist and trans* performance art, this paper probes the felt and lived harms that are experienced by feminist women and trans* individuals in gendered locales and addresses ways in which art can challenge socio-spatial violence. Overall, through …

“This Is The Psychology We Need”: Maya Immigrant Views On Mental Health Treatment, Robin Chancer
Maya America: Journal of Essays, Commentary, and Analysis
This paper engages the theme of psychological-physical-spiritual health among displaced Maya communities. To pursue knowledge about the communities’ visions for thriving in the United States, I worked with Maya leaders in Ohio to coordinate a series of dialogues utilizing a Participatory Action Research paradigm. Participants exposed ways in which Western institutions (including hospitals, mental health providers, and schools) reenact elements of colonialism and fail to offer culturally sensitive care. The participants emphasized a key missing element in their well-being: renewing the relationship with the Earth that they lost through colonization and forced migration. To separate physical/mental health from these elements …
