Gaining A Deeper Understanding Of The Meaning Of The Carelessness Parameter In The 4pl Irt Model And Strategies For Estimating It, Timbul Pardede, Agus Santoso, Diki Diki, Heri Retnawati, Ibnu Rafi, Ezi Apino, Munaya Nikma Rosyada

REID (Research and Evaluation in Education)

Three popular models are used to describe the characteristics of the test items and estimate the ability of examinees under the dichotomous IRT model, namely the one-, two-, and three-parameter logistic models. The three-item parameters are discriminating power, difficulty, and pseudo-guessing. In the development of the dichotomous IRT model, carelessness or upper asymptote parameter was proposed, which forms a four-parameter logistic (4PL) model to accommodate a condition where a high-ability examinee gives an incorrect response to a test item when he/she should be able to respond to the test item correctly. However, the carelessness parameter and the 4PL model have …

Characterization Of Pathogen-Specific Metabolites By Thin-Film Solid Phase Microextraction Analytical Tool, Keerthana S, Gouri Illanad, Chiranjit Ghosh Dr.

Manipal Journal of Science and Technology

Respiratory infection caused by the bacterial species is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, especially in immunocompromised people. All available diagnostic techniques for pneumonia detection are relatively limited due to time-consuming stages, selectivity, and the need for invasive procedures. To overcome the current challenges, we developed an analytical technique, utilizing a carbon mesh-supported thin film solid-phase microextraction (TF-SPME) technique coupled to gas chromatography-mass spectrometry for monitoring of pathogen-specific metabolites from bacterial culture media of E. coli bacterial strain. We exposed the TF-SPME device from the headspace of the culture media of the bacteria and extracted the metabolites during …

Cross-Language Tourism News Retrieval System Using Google Translate Api On Sebi Search Engine, H. Husni, Arif Muntasa, Sigit Susanto Putro, Zulfi Osman

Elinvo (Electronics, Informatics, and Vocational Education)

Cross-Language Information Retrieval (CLIR) is responsible for retrieving information stored in a language different from the language of the query provided by the user. Some translation methods commonly used in CLIR are Dictionary, Parallel corpora, Comparable corpora, Machine translator, Ontology, and Transitive-based. The query must be translated to the target language, followed by preprocessing and calculating the similarity between the query and all documents in the corpus. The problem is the time and accuracy of query translation. Moreover, the queries are not written as complete sentences according to certain language rules. Stemming, for example, every language has its own method. …

Criteria For Assessing And Ensuring The Trustworthiness In Qualitative Research, Zia Ul Haq Kakar, Rizwana Rasheed, Aamir Rashid, Salma Akhter

Publications and Research

The trustworthiness of qualitative data has been debatable, yet it has strong support from its supporters. However, the importance and worth of qualitative data cannot be undermined. This paper presents a critical review of the trustworthiness of the qualitative data. The degree of trustworthiness of qualitative research can be measured by ensuring the credibility, transferability, dependability, and conformability of research design, process, and action. The guarantee of trustworthiness in qualitative research is more complex than in quantitative research due to its subjective nature. Many researchers and experts denied the generalizability of qualitative research. However, few researchers, like Guba (1985), developed …

The conserved process of cell division in bacteria has been a long-standing target for antimicrobials, although there are few examples of potent broad-spectrum compounds that inhibit this process. Most currently available compounds acting on division are directed towards the FtsZ protein, a self-assembling GTPase that is a central element of the division machinery in most bacteria. Benzodioxane-benzamides are promising candidates, but poorly explored in Gram-negatives. We have tested a number of these compounds on E. coli FtsZ and found that many of them significantly stabilized the polymers against disassembly and reduced the GTPase activity. Reconstitution in crowded cell-like conditions showed …
