Oral Roberts University’S Judaic-Christian Studies Program: A Reflection On Its History And Significance, Pamela L. Idriss
Spiritus: ORU Journal of Theology
Oral Roberts University’s (ORU) Graduate School of Theology and Missions offered the Judaic-Christian Studies Concentration (JCSC) of Master of Theology in Biblical Literature between the fall of 2007 and the spring of 2020. Under the supervision of Brad H. Young, the program flourished with academic excellence and distinct practical applications. Students learned to comprehend the teachings of Jesus in their Second-Temple Jewish context and to recognize the Jewish roots of Christianity. The program employed the comparative/associative methodology for exegetical work and utilized the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and primary Jewish sources, such as the Rabbinic literature and the Dead …

The Rise Of The Phoenix: The Re-Emergence Of The Oral Roberts University Graduate School Of Theology In 1975, James Shelton, James A Hewett
Spiritus: ORU Journal of Theology
The re-emergence of the Graduate School of Theology after its closure in 1969 provides testimony to the bold vision of Oral Roberts of ecumenical higher education in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. Undeterred by the closure of the first Graduate School of Theology, Roberts’ launch of the second seminary in 1976 under James Buskirk showed a continued emphasis on educating and empowering the whole body of Christ.

Farms In The News
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
F.A.R.M.S. has two orientations: One is to do the academic scriptural research; another is to distribute those results as widely and inexpensively as possible. The recent addition of Sue Bergin to the F.A.R.M.S. staff as Coordinator of Public Relations has enhanced that second effort immensely. Like most people working with the Foundation, Sue puts in long hours as a volunteer because of her love for the scriptures.
Tell Your Story
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
It is apparent that the Book of Mormon means more to us that just paper and ink. This sacred volume has figured remarkably, and miraculously, in the profound spiritual experiences of thousands of people. "This aspect of the Book of Mormons' presence needs to be recorded," says Don Norton, Professor of English at BYU, who specializes in helping people write their personal histories.
Farms Tours
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
The F.A.R.M.S. June 1984 Tour to Guatemala and Southern Mexico was the finest Book of Mormon travel experience offered that year. The 1985 tour, departing June 17, for 16 days, will be even better. This unique tour focuses on those sites most likely occupied by Book of Mormon people. The itinerary is spectacular.

Volunteer Network
Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship
The strength of F.A.R.M.S. has always been its volunteer base. Many volunteers find their service very satisfying. During the past twelve months, under the vigorous direction of Les Campbell, the F.A.R.M.S. volunteer network has expanded and solidified. Volunteers all over the world, as well as in Provo, regularly continue to help with distribution, translation, firesides, introducing people to F.A.R.M.S., checking address lists, conducting local fund-raising activities, purchasing and placing Book of Mormon-related materials in local libraries, holding open houses, organizing reading groups or student clubs, conducting research, working with local book stores, and many other activities.

One of the few systematic studies of the "caractors" of the "Anthon Transcript," as it was known a decade ago, was published by Carl Hugh Jones in 1970 as "The 'Anthon Transcript' and Two Mesoamerican Cylinder Seals." The author is a museum professional with the Nebraska State Historical Society.
