The Morphology Of Space, Robinson Badell-Garcia
The Morphology Of Space, Robinson Badell-Garcia
Architecture Cultures Student Papers
During the time studying under the Architectural Morphologies and Mappings Summer class based in Italy, we were posed with a scenario in which we analyzed how plazas and public spaces were interacting with the surrounding environment as well as ourselves within the constant flow of circulation of the site. The following paper will take a glance at the firsthand experiences of various public spaces around Italy and how this experience contrasts from how it originally was purposed.
Identity And Rituals Of South Asian Communities In Africa: A Missiological Analysis, Andrew Tompkins
Identity And Rituals Of South Asian Communities In Africa: A Missiological Analysis, Andrew Tompkins
Faculty Publications
There is a sizable Indian population throughout sub-Saharan Africa. A majority of the Indian population are practicing Hindus. For Hindus, ritual is a significant part of their faith tradition, often the most important. In Africa, where they are a minority, Indians often cling to these rituals to maintain their identity as both Indian and Hindu. To share Christ among Indians in Africa, a robust understanding of ritual is required. While many Africans have thought about ritual from their cultural backgrounds, Seventh-day Adventist Africans have yet to do as much reflection on the role of ritual and faith. Adventists in Africa …

Creating A Feminist Religious Counterpublic:Rlds Feminists And Women's Ordination Advocacy In America, 1970–1985, David Howlett, Nancy Ross
Creating A Feminist Religious Counterpublic:Rlds Feminists And Women's Ordination Advocacy In America, 1970–1985, David Howlett, Nancy Ross
Religion: Faculty Publications
The 1970s witnessed an efflorescence of religious feminism in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, particularly around the issue of women's ordination. We pose a model for understanding this development—the formation of publics/counterpublics—and explore how it illuminates our case study. Drawing upon oral history interviews and archival sources, we document how RLDS women created independent publications, grassroots consciousness-raising groups, feminist classes and conferences, and Women-Church–inspired worship to reimagine priesthood within their church. We conclude that the lens of a counterpublic offers a capacious view of our topic, one capable of integrating both social movement theory and …

This is the final draft of a magazine article I submitted to Anthropology News. The article details my undergraduate research experience during the summer of 2023. I joined the established Olosho Ethnobotany Project, and collaborated with Dr. Kristin Hedges to produce an ethnoveterinary component. Dr. Hedges and I, spent two weeks in Narok, Kenya documenting traditional medicine for livestock. The traditional medicine was specific to the Purko Maasai community. The research trip was transformational, and helped guide my scholarly aspirations as a future graduate student of veterinary medicine. This article has been accepted by Anthropology News and pending press early …

Kamatayan, Pag-Ibig, At Himagsik Ng Mapagpalayang Diwa Ng Kababaihan: Diyalektika Ng Kalayaan At Nesesidad Sa Sixty In The City Ni Lualhati Bautista, Epifanio San Juan

This study investigates the two-way interaction effects of work engagement and empowerment on the degree of employees' budget participation industry in Scotland. Data are collected from 159 employees via an online questionnaire and analyzed using multiplicative regression analysis. The results confirm the presence of a two-way interaction effect between work engagement and empowerment on the degree of budget participation at a statistically significance level (p = 0.0002). Further analysis indicates that the higher the empowerment, the greater its enhancing effect on the positive relationship between work engagement and the degree of employees' budget participation. This study provides one of the …

A large part of our material culture is made of organic materials, and this was likely the case also during prehistory. Amongst this prehistoric organic material culture are textiles and cordages, taking advantage of the flexibility and resistance of plant fibres. While in very exceptional cases and under very favourable circumstances, fragments of baskets and cords have survived and were discovered in late Pleistocene and Holocene archaeological sites, these objects are generally not preserved, especially in tropical regions. We report here indirect evidence of basket/tying material making found on stone tools dating to 39–33,000 BP from Tabon Cave, Palawan Philippines. …

The Presence Of Unusual Foramina In The Femoral Intercondylar And Trochanteric Fossae On Skeletonized Individuals From Tanzania, Wilson Jilala, David Ngassapa, Ali Hamad
Tanzania Journal of Science
According to the standard nomenclature, skeletal land marks are all identified by their given names in the world of human skeletal anatomy. But it is also clear that the discovery of new anatomical features continues because human beings have so many anatomical variations caused by genetics, functions, geographical adaptations, and diseases; they are all described and given names. Therefore, an anatomical feature that is rare and undescribed is certainly a discovery and it deserves to be recorded. The discovery of anatomical features on the epiphyseial ends of the femur reported here adds two new names, namely the intercondylar fossa foramen …

Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan
History learning is always expressed in conceptualisation that is oriented towards memorising, remembering, memory and many others, so it is not uncommon to often become boring learning for students. Considering the development of information and communication technology that has currently occurred, the orientation of learning has changed, including on historical material. This study seeks to reveal how history learning should be done by teachers of the subject through a series of meta-analysis activities. Author collected various quantitative research results related to history learning solutions as an expression of empirical evidence of its successful implementation. The main conclusion is that history …

Animal Motifs On Rock Art In Papua And West Papua, R. Cecep Eka Permana, Zubair Mas'ud
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
Most of the rock art in Indonesia is found at prehistoric sites, specifically caves or cliffs in South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, Maluku, Papua, and West Papua. Most rock art with animal motifs is mainly located in Papua and West Papua. Therefore, the data in this paper are mostly based on the results of research conducted during the last ten years at rock art sites in Papua Province (with hinterland and mountainous characteristics) and in West Papua Province (with coastal and archipelagic characteristics). An analysis of these animal motifs has demonstrated that lizard and fish motifs dominate rock art …

Journal of Letters
This research paper aims to study metafiction and to confirm that humanity exist in robots from the beginning, rather than evolving from a robot to a human being, even though the content appears to show the development of a human being, by concentrating on an analysis of Roar-Rueanaimahasamuth’s trilogy novel, You Know, The Real Literature Had To Be Written by Computer Only. The results revealed five types of metafictions: fiction within fiction, disclosure of fiction writing process, crossing the line between the internal world and the outside world, mimicking the traditions of fiction writing and interrupting the proceedings and humanity …

Returning Home: The Thesis Of A Master, Yang Thai Vang
Theses and Dissertations
Over centuries, Hmong people have moved from mountain to mountain, home to home, country to country, crossing rivers and valleys in search of an escape from oppression. The Txiv Xaiv (Plig) ritual and chant has survived serial exodus and diaspora that Hmong people have experienced. This ritual encodes Hmong historical and cosmological understandings as an oral text, passed down from master to student, and performed at funerals to apply that understanding in the management of souls--ultimately to send them home. The Txiv Xaiv (Plig) serves as a glue, connecting the past generations to the generation of today and the generations …
Organizing And Communicating Health: A Culture-Centered And Necrocapitalist Inquiry Of Groundwater Contamination In Rural West Bengal, Parameswari Mukherjee
Organizing And Communicating Health: A Culture-Centered And Necrocapitalist Inquiry Of Groundwater Contamination In Rural West Bengal, Parameswari Mukherjee
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
As a discursive point of praxis, this dissertation project seeks to record knowledge from below around the overlaps between health, water and health interventions emerging from rural communities located in North 24 Parganas and Purulia in West Bengal that are disproportionately impacted by water-insecurity. My dissertation also documents how multiple-stakeholders such as local NGOs, international NGOs, non-profits, and donor agencies organize access to safe water and health interventions for the water-insecure communities located in North 24 Parganas and Purulia. The integration of the CCA and necrocapitalism afford theoretical and methodological guidance in this dissertation to help document the localocentric stories …

Illustrating Postcolonial Margins: Locating Experimental, Collaborative, Indian Graphic Narratives In The Twenty-First Century, Sayanti Mondal
Theses and Dissertations
This interdisciplinary research project reassesses the genre of postcolonial Indian graphic narratives through a case study of an independent publisher in South India, Tara Books. Following a sociocultural and materialist approach to literary and cultural studies and drawing from scholarship in postcolonial studies, graphic narrative studies, and museology, the study analyzes the important contributions of postcolonial Anglophone graphic narratives in the twenty-first century. Specifically, through this project, I examine the unique ways subaltern subjects construct and take charge of their narratives to create and curate an alternate space for binary cultures to interact, partner, co-construct, and share histories and stories. …
