Organic Dining Behaviour In British Restaurants, Lokman Dinc, Rong Huang
Plymouth Business School
The organic food market has experienced significant growth in recent decades all over the world. Within the context of the UK, a remarkable rise can be seen considering the recent popularisation of organic food products. With these trends in mind, the aim of this research is to develop better understanding of organic dining behaviour in British restaurants. To achieve this aim, this research used questionnaire technique and analyse the data using SEM.The key findings of the research confirmed that a range of factors, including advertisements through social media, knowledge, price, taste, quality, availability, and labelling, all significantly influence consumer intention …
"How Could Anyone But A Madman Have Thought This Sleeping Girl Dead?": L.T. Meade's Approach To The "Buried Alive" Literary Tradition In Support Of Death Certification Reform, Shelby Johnson
Theses and Dissertations
A March 1866 issue of The Lancet observes, "If a newspaper were in want of a startling story with which to enliven a dull copy in the 'off season,' it could not do better than select one with the heading "'Buried Alive'"("Premature Interment" 295). Stories of being buried alive gave readers of all backgrounds a thrill. However, the stories frustrated the medical and scientific communities who were quick to dismiss the threat of live burial as a possibility in a modern world. Drawing on the literary history of "buried alive" stories and medical knowledge surrounding death signs and catalepsy, this …

Rhabdomyosarcomas (RMS) are pediatric mesenchymal-derived malignancies encompassing PAX3/7-FOXO1 Fusion Positive (FP)-RMS, and Fusion Negative (FN)-RMS with frequent RAS pathway mutations. RMS express the master myogenic transcription factor MYOD that, whilst essential for survival, cannot support differentiation. Here we discover SKP2, an oncogenic E3-ubiquitin ligase, as a critical pro-tumorigenic driver in FN-RMS. We show that SKP2 is overexpressed in RMS through the binding of MYOD to an intronic enhancer. SKP2 in FN-RMS promotes cell cycle progression and prevents differentiation by directly targeting p27Kip1 and p57Kip2, respectively. SKP2 depletion unlocks a partly MYOD-dependent myogenic transcriptional program and strongly affects stemness and tumorigenic …
Best Practices To Manage Nitrate Contamination Of Groundwater In Agricultural Zones: A Comparative Analysis Of Farming Impacts On Areas Of Central Valley And High Plains Aquifers, Rekha Duthulur
Master's Projects and Capstones
Nitrate is one of the most common contaminants in groundwater and causes multiple health impacts when consumed. Contamination is most significant in agricultural areas and has increased steadily since the 1950s with the introduction of nitrogen fertilizers. The depth of an aquifer, sediment type, hydrogeology, redox conditions, microbe activity, fertilizer application, natural nitrogen deposits, and well construction influence the degree of nitrate contamination of an aquifer. The sources of nitrate pollution are fertilizer, manure, concentrated feeding lots, natural nitrogen deposits, atmospheric deposition, septic systems, wastewater treatment plants, and industrial activities. Nitrogen compounds applied on the surface are stored in the …
Assessing Wastewater Treatment In Yopal Colombia Using Gis, Leydi P. Puerto Bohorquez
Assessing Wastewater Treatment In Yopal Colombia Using Gis, Leydi P. Puerto Bohorquez
Master's Projects and Capstones
The amount of wastewater has surged alongside population growth, urbanization, and economic development, which can influence the wastewater treatment process, especially in the treatment capacity, particularly in developing countries. In Colombia, the low coverage of Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) leads to a complex environmental issue. This has threatened water quality and aquatic ecosystems of waterbodies that receive this type of water by increasing disease prevalence and creating hypoxic conditions. To determine how a WWTP could impact water quality, it was necessary to understand the treatment process and the physicochemical parameters being monitored. The focus is to answer the central research …
Addressing Linguistic Isolation Through Community Based Esl And Emergency Preparedness, Lisa Guay
Addressing Linguistic Isolation Through Community Based Esl And Emergency Preparedness, Lisa Guay
Master's Projects and Capstones
Linguistic isolation acts as a barrier to the well-being and social integration of Limited English Proficient (LEP) adults. Community-based English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, designed with learner-centric curricula, may help LEPs gain access to social and navigational capital in the form of English proficiency, confidence and social integration. Community-based ESL programs provide adult English Language Learners (ELLs) with a path to English proficiency and social integration, but curricula should be geared toward ELLs’ needs. There is a need for ESL curricula focused on emergency and disaster preparedness, curricula which may contribute positively to adult ELLs’ speaking skills and …
Lemons And Other Grand Delusions, Jake A. Yarnold
Lemons And Other Grand Delusions, Jake A. Yarnold
Master's Theses
Lemons and Other Grand Delusions explores a host of characters as they come face to face with their greatest fears, as they get exactly what they think they want. From magic dimension-bending lemons, to automatons powered by the Philosopher’s Stone, as the powers from beyond become in-hand realities, the characters find their greatest desires are not as simple and powerful in their hands as they first thought. Exploring the limits of greed and desire within ourselves and in the society we live in, the collection asks who are we, if not a collection of our own desires, and the impulses …

From Margins To Museums: Tracing The Evolution Of Representation For Contemporary African Artists In The United States, Victoria Mouraux Durand-Ruel
Master's Theses
This thesis examines the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement on the art community in the United States and the evolution of representation for Contemporary African artists. By analyzing the careers and artistic contributions of Omar Ba, Toyin Ojih Odutola, and Njideka Akunyili Crosby, the study explores the concept of artistic agency according to which African artists have more control over the production and distribution of their works.
The research begins with a comprehensive literature review, investigating the historical contexts that have shaped the art landscape, including the impact of colonization, decolonization, and globalization. The study reveals how these …
Retreat Village Design In Letchworth State Park Region: An Architecture Development In A Highly Valued State Park Meets The Triple Bottom Line Of Sustainability, Jing Hua
Theses
Letchworth State Park, located in Livingston and Wyoming counties, New York, renowned as the “Grand Canyon of the East”, is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern United States. However, there are no well-developed leisure centers around or in the park. The lack of good accommodations, in contrast to the availability of restaurants with local character, leisure activities, and other supporting facilities in the area, fails to fully achieve the development potential of the natural scenery of the region. This thesis demonstrates that a retreat complex village that brings people closer to the natural landscape of Letchworth …
The Position Of Ancient And Contemporary Critics On Prose-Related Issues, Torj Zaini Wind
The Position Of Ancient And Contemporary Critics On Prose-Related Issues, Torj Zaini Wind
Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences
This study explores the opinions of ancient and contemporary critics on the issues related to Arabic prose. Given the importance of all forms of Arabic prose in the development of the Arab though and the development of Islamic civilization, this analytic-descriptive research aims to analyze the opinions of these critics about prose and also seeks to compare their critical opinions. The research concludes that ancient critics did not offer scientific or lengthy opinions about literary criticism since their primary focus was on poetry. On the contrary, contemporary critics believe that prose is the origin of science and thought and the …

Identifying novel cell surface receptors that regulate leukemia cell differentiation and can be targeted to inhibit cellular proliferation is crucial to improve current treatment modalities in acute myeloid leukemia (AML), especially for relapsed or chemotherapy-refractory leukemia. Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor type B (LILRB) is an immunomodulatory receptor originally found to be expressed in myeloid cells. In this study, we found that LILRB receptors can be induced under inflammatory stimuli and chemotherapy treatment conditions. Blockade of LILRB3 inhibited leukemia cell proliferation and leukemia progression. Additionally, treatment with LILRB3 blocking antibodies upregulated myeloid lineage differentiation transcription factors, including PU.1, C/EBP family, and IRF, …

INTRODUCTION: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting millions of patients. Closed-Loop Deep Brain Stimulation (CL-DBS) is a therapy that can alleviate the symptoms of PD. The CL-DBS system consists of an electrode sending electrical stimulation signals to a specific region of the brain and a battery-powered stimulator implanted in the chest. The electrical stimuli in CL-DBS systems need to be adjusted in real-time in accordance with the state of PD symptoms. Therefore, fast and precise monitoring of PD symptoms is a critical function for CL-DBS systems. However, the current CL-DBS techniques suffer from high computational demands for real-time …
