Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome (WAS) is an immune system (immunodeficiency) and blood disorder that increases the risk of severe infections and bleeding. A patient with WAS has a significant reduction in the size and number of platelets (micro thrombocytopenia), meaning there is a reduced ability to form blood clots and stop bleeding. WAS affects approximately 1 in 250,000 males in the United States. Public information on WAS is predominantly scientifically based, which makes it difficult for families to fully understand the syndrome, the impacts of severe bleedings on patients’ daily activity, and how to improve the patients’ quality of life. Given the important role of assessment in the process of Second Language Learning (SLL) and framed within Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), this study aims to analyze: (1) how EFL teachers’ understanding of the role of assessment in SLL can be improved, (2) how effective dynamic assessment is in their teaching practices, (3) how EFL teachers’ assessment practices reflect their understanding of the concept of assessment/dynamic assessment, and (4) what strategies can help them understand these concepts. The Clean Water Act has become a centerpiece in an enduring multifront battle against both environmental regulation and federal regulatory power in all of its settings. This Article focuses on the emergence, elements, and linked uses of an antiregulatory arsenal now central to battles over what are federally protected “waters of the United States.” This is the key jurisdictional hook for CWA jurisdiction, and hence, logically, has become the heart of CWA contestation. Infectious Disease (ID)-trained specialists, defined as ID pharmacists and ID physicians, improve hospital care by providing consultations to patients with complicated infections and by leading programs that monitor and improve antibiotic prescribing. However, many hospitals and nursing homes lack access to ID specialists. Telehealth is an effective tool to deliver ID specialist expertise to resource-limited settings. Telehealth services are most useful when they are adapted to meet the needs and resources of the local setting. This report is a recap of my efforts to address the information needs of New Yorkers with long COVID as a student in CUNY's Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism engagement program. African Americans (AA) have the highest prevalence of stroke and death compared to other racial groups in the United States. Post-stroke depression (PSD) affects approximately 1/3 of all stroke patients and is underdiagnosed in the African American community.

Aim: By using a mHealth mobile app and a Psychiatry provider list at discharge, PSD can be identified, and interventions initiated, thus decreasing the sequela of PSD in AA.

Methods: Nurses were provided education on PSD, expressions of depression in African-Americans, cultural humility, implicit bias, and the importance of the nurse's role in developing a therapeutic relationship.

Spinal surgeries can lead to an increase in costs and complications for patients and hospital organizations. Complications following spine surgery have been identified in 16.4% to 80% of cases for spine surgeries. An Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) protocol is a set of guidelines with the goal of improving surgical outcomes and improving a patient’s quality of life. Human papillomavirus virus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted disease that can negatively affect both males and females by leading to cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, penile, and oropharyngeal cancer. Vaccinating against HPV using the Gardasil vaccine is an effective method to prevent HPV, however, vaccination rates are still unacceptably low in adolescents ages 11 to 14. Pediatric providers should encourage and strongly recommend HPV vaccines to all adolescents. Addressing and easing parental hesitancy is a key component to improving vaccine acceptance. Background

In January of 2020, a hospital in Springfield, Illinois started the year with seven full-time circulating nurses in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR). Three of those nurses left before the end of the year and an additional four nurses were hired. In January of 2021, the CVOR began the year with eight nurses. Five of these nurses left by the end of the year and seven more were hired, one of which left before the end of 2021. This department has struggled to retain nurses, with a turnover rate of 42.9% in 2020 and 62.5% in 2021.

Discharge instructions are an important tool providers use to communicate information to patients about their medical diagnosis after they return to their home environments. When patients understand and follow discharge instructions there are improved outcomes, fewer callbacks, and decreased return visits. The purpose of this quality improvement project were (a) to develop and distribute discharge instructions at or below a sixth-grade reading level, (b) on common diagnoses appropriate for a rural community, (c) decreased the need for subsequent office visits, and (d) decreased call volumes at a rural walk-in clinic. In 2011, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) declared the opioid crisis an epidemic, and in 2017 it was declared a public health emergency. In labor and delivery, neuraxial anesthesia has been used for over a hundred years to provide pain relief for parturients. Although many alternatives have been studied, opioids are the most frequently used local anesthetic adjuvants, and their use in neuraxial blocks has evolved over the last 50 years (Swain et al., 2017). As weather patterns change worldwide, isolated communities impacted by climate change go unnoticed and we need community and habitat-conscious solutions. In Himalayan Mustang, Nepal, indigenous Lubra village faces threats of increasing flash flooding. After every flood, residual concrete-like sediment hardens across the riverbed, causing the riverbed elevation to rise. As elevation increases, sediment encroaches on Lubra’s agricultural fields and homes, magnifying flood vulnerability. In the last monsoon season alone, the village witnessed floods swallowing several fields and damaging two homes. One solution considers relocating the village to a new location entirely. Few would deny that contract law is filled with default rules, but there has been a great deal of scholarly debate about their purposes and functions. Some American scholars have argued that there are default rules that do not align with most parties’ expectations; indeed, they impose a burden on one or both parties if they are not departed from. This article explores the question of legal education in micro jurisdictions using the case of Jersey, a British Crown Dependency, positioned geographically, historically and culturally between two larger jurisdictions, France and the UK.
