#Fintok And Financial Regulation, Nikita Aggarwal, D. Bondy Valdovinos Kaye, Christopher K. Odinet

Faculty Scholarship

Social media platforms are becoming an increasingly important site for consumer finance. This phenomenon is referred to as “FinTok,” a reference to the “#fintok” hashtag that identifies financial content on TikTok, a popular social media platform. This Essay examines the new methodological possibilities for consumer financial regulation due to FinTok. It argues that FinTok content offers a novel and valuable source of data for identifying emerging fintech trends and associated consumer risks. As such, financial regulators should use FinTok content analysis—and social media content analysis more broadly—as an additional method for the supervision and regulation of consumer financial markets. Third Amendment To The Chinese Copyright Law, Peter K. Yu

Faculty Scholarship

Since July 2011, China has actively explored ways to upgrade its copyright law. Although the law was already amended the year before, only two changes were made at that time. The last time Chinese copyright law undertook a major overhaul was more than two decades ago, two months before the country became the 143rd member of the WTO in December 2001.

On November 11, 2020, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China finally approved the Third Amendment to the Chinese Copyright Law. Covering a wide range of issues from eligibility to ownership and from enforcement to anti-circumvention …

Faculty, Staff and Students Publications

Replication timing (RT) is the temporal order in which genomic DNA is replicated during S phase. Early and late replication correlate with transcriptionally active and inactive chromatin compartments, but mechanistic links between large scale chromosome structure, transcription, and replication are still enigmatic. A proper RT program is necessary to maintain the global epigenome that defines cell identity, suggesting that RT is critical for epigenome integrity by facilitating the assembly of different types of chromatin at different times during S phase. RT is regulated during development and it has been found to be altered in disease. Thus, RT can identify stable …

Dual Paraneoplastic Syndrome In Small Lung Cancer, Kamil Sardarli, Austin M. Morris, Jamal Abukhaled

Conference Presentation Abstracts

Introduction: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive neuroendocrine lung cancer associated with paraneoplastic syndromes – syndrome of inappropriate ADH (SIADH) in 7-16% of cases and Ectopic ACTH Syndrome (EAS) in 3.5-4.3% of cases. Both syndromes are associated with a poor prognosis in patients with SCLC. We describe a patient who presented with SIADH, leading to a diagnosis of SCLC who subsequently developed EAS. Case Description: A 71-year-old female with a past medical history of hypertension, depression, and tobacco use presented with lethargy. She noted headache, but otherwise was unable to provide history due to altered mentation. Per her …
