Identifying What Transformational Leadership Elements Principals Are Utilizing To Retain Kindergarten To High School Teachers, Johnny Ray Vahalik
Identifying What Transformational Leadership Elements Principals Are Utilizing To Retain Kindergarten To High School Teachers, Johnny Ray Vahalik
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Teacher turnover in a large urban school district exceeded the state average annually from 2016 to 2020. Previous studies and local evidence indicate a gap in practice might currently exist, consisting of principals not making the best use of the most effective transformational leadership elements to consolidate and increase teacher retention. While many researchers agree that principal leadership has had the most significant influence on teachers’ decisions to stay in or leave their schools, there is a gap in the literature on what principal leadership practices influence teachers’ decisions to stay or leave. The research question that guided this study …

The Impact Of Funding On Organizational Sustainability Of Mental Health Nonprofits In The County Of Orange, California, Sophia E. Valdez
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
There is a gap in literature regarding sustainment of mental health programs following budget reductions. Customarily, decreases in budgets have been presumed to be connected to decreases in sustainability. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to describe the impact that a decrease in Proposition 63 funding had on nonprofit sustainability in the County of Orange, California. In 2004, California lawmakers enacted Prop 63 to revitalize the public mental health system. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research was used as the conceptual framework for this study. This tool can be used to measure data in five categories; intervention, inner …
Clinical Practice Guidelines For Type 2 Diabetes Patients, Rajeena Varghese
Clinical Practice Guidelines For Type 2 Diabetes Patients, Rajeena Varghese
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In the United States, Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a public health concern and a primary cause of readmissions to hospitals. Many patient readmissions may be avoided if quality, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) are developed and followed using a comprehensive approach. The project site’s retrospective analysis of electronic health records indicated a lack of consistency in following best practice recommendations, as shown by higher readmission rates. The purpose of this project study was to create a current evidence-based CPG that nurses can use to educate T2DM patients before being discharged from the hospital. The practice-focused question addressed whether …
Factors Associated With The Uptake Of Hiv Testing Among African American Male College Students, Brittney Sade Washington-Ball,Drph
Factors Associated With The Uptake Of Hiv Testing Among African American Male College Students, Brittney Sade Washington-Ball,Drph
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
HIV testing rates are much lower among African American male college students than male college students of other racial groups. Routine HIV testing on college campuses can decrease HIV rates among African Americans and increase students' awareness of their HIV status. This study was an investigation of factors associated with HIV testing among a sample of 140 African American male college students. The health belief model guided the research study and served as the theoretical framework to examine the influence of factors such as the location of testing, STD status, number of sexual partners, insurance coverage, health information, and alcohol …

Domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST) is a human rights problem that plagues all sizes of U.S. communities. The phenomenon of young sex trafficking victims returning to their trafficker after intervention by law enforcement and social services professionals exacerbates the DMST problem. The purpose of this qualitative study was to learn the perceptions of professionals who work with DMST youths to help understand (a) The reasons DMST victims return to their traffickers after intervention and (b) strategies that might reduce the likelihood of such returns. Nurse Staffing And Leadership Support On In-Patient Hospital Safety, Kearia Deresa Watson-Orr
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In-patient hospital safety relates to healthcare facilities protecting patients from medical errors. The “problem of many hands” exists, where there is a gap in understanding who is responsible for in-patient hospital safety, nurse staffing, or leadership support. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine the association between nurse staffing (nurse-to-patient ratios and hours worked) and in-patient safety (perception of in-patient safety by nurses) as well as the association between leadership support (work climate promotes patient safety and actions of hospital management to show that patient safety is a top priority) and in-patient safety (perception of in-patient safety) based …

Substance Abuse Disorders And Veteran Homelessness, Donald Rufus Williams
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractVeterans constitute a significant proportion of the homeless population in the United States. Studies indicate that substance abuse is a major issue these veterans face that can result in homelessness. Despite improvement since 2009, substance abuse among this population remains a significant problem. The objective of this study was to gain a better understanding of the experiences of homeless and substance-abusing veterans to provide information to government agencies that may help them develop a practical approach for addressing the issue. The social cognitive theory and Lowry's dimension on federalism provided the theoretical framework for this study. A general qualitative research …
Cultural Responsiveness In Policing, Stacy Berry Workman
Cultural Responsiveness In Policing, Stacy Berry Workman
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Over the last decade, headlines have highlighted police-citizen conflicts. With the continuing change in communities to an increasingly diverse population, communication and interactions between officers and citizens must progress towards fairness and transparency. The delivery of culturally competent public safety services facilitates more favorable client outcomes, more effective interpersonal communication, and increased service satisfaction from clients. Although this is heavily stressed in public safety agencies and can decrease the possibility of tort liability for failing to provide adequate services or appropriate treatment, the emphasis varies. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore the policies and influences of law …

Perceptions Of Human Interactions In Adult Patients After Using Digital Therapeutic Mobile Applications, Traci Brakefield
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractWhile the use of technology in healthcare has been present for many years, the recent rise of digital therapeutics in healthcare has been understudied, specifically regarding the perceptions and experiences of patients using mobile applications. Traditional healthcare involves face-to-face human interactions, requiring scheduled check-ins and provides structured interventions. Conversely, Digital therapeutics is primarily comprised of human to machine interactions. Digital therapeutics allows the user to access intervention in their time of individual need. The decrease of human-to-human interaction and the rise of human-to-machine interaction was explored in this qualitative descriptive phenomenological study from the patient perspective. Watson’s theory of human …

The purpose of this qualitative exploratory case study was to explore the role of child and adult sexual fantasies and criminal paraphilia involving serial sexual murderers. Hickey’s trauma-control model and relational paraphilic attachment theory …
