Platform: A Journal of Engineering

While ionic liquids are usually high in cost, only small amounts are needed to establish their beneficial characteristics combined with the utilization of a cosurfactant. A cationic surface-active ionic liquid, 1-hexadecyl-3- methylimidazolium bromide (C16mimBr) was chosen as the main surfactant because it is non-volatile, non-flammable, and able to withstand high temperature. However, it was studied that this ionic liquid poses a major threat to the aquatic environment, thus another surfactant is needed as a cosurfactant. Lauryl glucoside was used as the cosurfactant because it is environmentally friendly, has low toxicity and excellent biodegradability. The potential of this surfactant mixture for …

Platform: A Journal of Engineering

The Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process has grown within the time oil exploration was conducted, and many recovery methods were invented to maximize production. One of the promising recovery techniques is carbon dioxide (CO2) flooding. However, CO2 flooding has its disadvantages where due to different mobility and heterogeneity between CO2 and reservoir, the sweep efficiency is reduced because of gas channelling and viscous fingering. Thus, the application of surfactant is introduced to solve the problem. But, by using surfactants in CO2 flooding, loss of surfactant to the formation is observed. Due to this setback, the cost of the EOR process …

Occlusion Handler Density Networks For 3d Multimodal Joint Location Of Hand Pose Hypothesis, Stanley Tito

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

(HPE) process is an ill-posed challenge. This is due to severe self occluded joints of the hand. The existing approaches for predicting pose parameters of the hand, utilize a single-value mapping of an input image to generate final pose output. This way makes it difficult to handle occlusion especially when it comes from the multimodal pose hypothesis. This paper introduces an effective method of handling multimodal joint occlusion using the negative log-likelihood of a multimodal mixture-of-Gaussians through a hybrid hierarchical mixture density network (HHMDN). The proposed approach generates multiple feasible hypotheses of 3D poses with visibility, unimodal and multimodal distribution …
