Postures After The Antique In Eighteenth-Century Portraits Of Women, Lauren K. Disalvo

ABO: Interactive Journal for Women in the Arts, 1640–1830

This paper re-examines the relationship between eighteenth-century portraiture and the antique where women adopt the postures of floating female figures from Pompeiian wall paintings in eighteenth-century portraiture. I argue that eighteenth-century floating portraits afforded their female sitters an opportunity to assert classical knowledge while adhering to typical conventions of femininity.

The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of Black women in leadership positions in the healthcare field. The study used an intersectional lens to illustrate how gender, race, class, and spirituality contributed to the systemic structures of oppression, bias, and discrimination, limiting ascension to positions of power and authority. This Note argues that U.S. interdiction of asylum seekers at sea and the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program undermine the object and purpose of international refugee law. The U.S. Government uses both practices to evade its international obligation of non-refoulement, or non-return. Such practices unjustly restrict access to asylum in the U.S. These policies can be characterized as tools of “neo-refoulement.” Neo-refoulement is a strategy used to foreclose the possibility of asylum. BI-3802 is a relatively new anticancer drug known to bind to the transcription repressor BCL6 which can lead to the regression of the most common form of cancer in the lymphatic system, B-cell lymphoma. Based on the structure of BI-3802 we believe this small molecule drug can bind to DNA through intercalation. Intercalators are a special type of molecule which have a flat planar section that can stack between DNA base pairs. This study includes results of student surveys of current high-school students who took band during their middle school years, seeking essential factors affecting student perceptions about continuation into high school band programs. A transcendental phenomenological design was used in this study to examine the essence of the participants’ experiences. In 2021 the Canadian Judicial Council completed a multi-year review and update of Ethical Principles for Judges (EPJ), the ethical and professional guidance for all federally-appointed judges in Canada. The revisions address issues such as case management and settlement conferences, technological competence and the use of social media, interactions with self-represented litigants, professional development for judges, confidentiality, and the return of former judges to the practice of law. X-disease phytoplasma and little cherry virus 1 and 2 have resulted in substantial loss of stone fruit acreage in Washington and Oregon. The extent and financial impact on the industry was not previously known. A Washington and Oregon State University survey documented 238,856 trees equivalent to 974 acres of sweet cherries removed due to X-disease and little cherry disease between 2015 and 2020. Removed trees reduced revenue to the industry by an estimated $30 million in 2020 and $65 million between 2015 and 2020. Over the seven-year re-establishment period estimated lost revenue and establishment costs to growers is an estimated …
