Bowen Informed Therapy Integrated With Gene Keys, Kristen Oliver M.A.
Bowen Informed Therapy Integrated With Gene Keys, Kristen Oliver M.A.
Counseling and Family Therapy Scholarship Review
The mental health professions require innovation in order to advance theory and practice. This article presents reimagined therapeutic work that joins the metaphysical element of Gene Keys with the largely accepted theoretical approach of Bowen Family Systems Theory. We propose the integration of metaphysics as a way to facilitate higher levels of differentiation – particularly in clients who have an expanded worldview inclusive of metaphysics. The reader is asked to stretch their beliefs and perspective as they read through this paper.

Counseling and Family Therapy Scholarship Review
This article is the fruit of a systematic scoping review, according to PRISMA precepts. Its objective was to explore the use of stories and other symbolic genre on family therapy settings. Thus, it explains how the researchers made the selection of articles in phases or steps, in a total of six, having a final result of 11 articles, in a time-lapse of 28 years. By the one hand, it was observed a relationship between different techniques that are usually grouped separately and, by the other hand, the disparate way in which the same concepts are confused among researchers, where each …

Hypoxic Incubation Chamber, Simone Lisette Helfrich, Makenzie Nicole Jones
Biomedical Engineering: Graduate Reports and Projects
This paper describes the design, manufacturing, and testing of a novel controllable hypoxic incubator with fully functional oxygen gas control and temperature control in a humid environment. On the current market, a majority of the few hypoxic incubators use pre-mixed gas that does not offer precise control over gas concentration. The objective for this project was to create a chamber that allows the user to set the O2 concentration to varying set points of % O2 while maintaining the chamber at a constant body temperature, CO2 level, humidity, and sterility. To start the project, multiple concepts were developed for the …

Community-Level Phylogenetic Diversity Does Not Differ Between Rare And Common Lineages Across Tallgrass Prairies In The Northern Great Plains, Sarah A. Herzog, Maribeth Latvis
Community-Level Phylogenetic Diversity Does Not Differ Between Rare And Common Lineages Across Tallgrass Prairies In The Northern Great Plains, Sarah A. Herzog, Maribeth Latvis
Native Plant Focused Publications
Niche differentiation has served as one explanation for species coexistence, and phylogenetic relatedness provides a means to approximate how ecologically similar species are to each other. To explore the contribution of rare species to community phylogenetic diversity, we sampled 21 plant communities across the Prairie Coteau ecoregion, an area of high conservation concern. We used breakpoint analysis through the iterative addition of less abundant species to the phylogenetic tree for each community to assess the contribution of rare species to community phylogenetic diversity. We also quantify the phylogenetic signal of abundance using Blomberg's K statistic and calculated the phylogenetic similarity …

Human activities are altering the natural landscape on the earth’s surface. The thermal environment of densely populated cities is also experiencing rapid change. Remote sensing provides the necessary spatial and temporal data to understand cities' complex human–climate interactions. However, the complex temporal and spatial variability of human activities, urban landscapes, and urban climates make understanding the interactions among them challenging. The study of human–climate interactions is also complicated by the mixed pixels of remote sensing data.
Therefore, I am looking to collaborate with those who want to do research in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS application in water …

Inclusion And Belonging In Irish Higher Education For Black And Minority Ethnic Students, Fionnuala Darby
Articles
Using Critical Race Theory (CRT) as an analytical prism, this study interrogates the sense of belonging and inclusion experienced by Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) students on one higher education campus in Ireland. The most important story told within the study is as simple as it is complicated. The simple part is that the BME students felt that the campus was inclusive and that they experienced a sense of belonging. The complicated part is that the findings are premised in a normative assumption of whiteness as evidenced by numerous and incremental moments of exclusion in the daily experience of microaggressions, …

Carum carvi is a well-known herb traditionally used as a spice in Asian countries. Acetaminophen is a known marketed drug mainly used as an analgesic. It has been scientifically proven that consumption of acetaminophen (paracetamol) is associated with liver toxicity if taken in high doses without medical supervision. The present study evaluated the in vivo antioxidant and hepatoprotective efficacy of Carum carvi against acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity in Wistar rats. Our results demonstrate that Carum carvi, at doses (mg/kg) of 100 (D1) and 200 (D2), showed inhibitory properties for DNA-sugar damage, lipid peroxidation, DPPH scavenging, and increased reducing potential in a concentration-dependent …

Sample preparation remains both a challenging and time-consuming process in the field of bioanalytical chemistry. Many traditional techniques often require multi-step processes, which can introduce additional errors to the analytical method. Given the complexity of many biological matrices, thorough analyte extraction presents a major challenge to researchers. In the present study, a headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with a GC/Q-ToF-MS method, was developed to quantify in vitro metabolism of β-caryophyllene by both human liver microsome (HLM) and S9 liver fractions. Validation of the method was demonstrated both in terms of linearity (R2 = 0.9948) and sensitivity with a limit of …

The viridans group streptococci (VGS) are a large consortium of commensal streptococci that colonize the human body. Many species within this group are opportunistic pathogens causing bacteremia and infective endocarditis (IE), yet little is known about why some strains cause invasive disease. Identification of virulence determinants is complicated by the difficulty of distinguishing between the closely related species of this group. Here, we analyzed genomic data from VGS that were isolated from blood cultures in patients with invasive infections and oral swabs of healthy volunteers and then determined the best-performing methods for species identification. Using whole-genome sequence data, we characterized …

Rosmarinic Acid Prevents Cisplatin-Induced Liver And Kidney Injury By Inhibiting Inflammatory Responses And Enhancing Total Antioxidant Capacity, Thereby Activating The Nrf2 Signaling Pathway, Yifei Xiang, Min Ji, Liqin Wu, Li Lv
Faculty and Student Publications
Drug-induced liver and kidney damage is an emergent clinical issue that should be addressed. Rosmarinic acid (RA) has obvious anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, so we evaluated the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of RA pretreatment on serum and liver and kidney tissues of cisplatin (CP)-treated mice and explored the possible mechanisms. The results showed that RA pretreatment effectively downregulated the serum, liver, and kidney levels of ALT, AST, BUN, and CRE and the inflammatory factors IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, and simultaneously enhanced the total antioxidant capacity of the liver and kidney. RA pretreatment significantly reduced the levels of MPO, MDA, and …

The Centrality Of Data And Compute For Ai Innovation: A Blueprint For The National Research Cloud, Daniel E. Ho, Jennifer King, Russell C. Wald, Christopher Wan
Notre Dame Journal on Emerging Technologies
From the introduction: Artificial intelligence (AI) appears poised to transform the economy across sectors ranging from healthcare and finance to retail and education. What some have coined the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” is driven by three key trends: greater availability of data, increases in computing power, and improvements to algorithm design. First, increasingly large amounts of data have fueled the ability for computers to learn, such as by training an algorithmic language model on all of Wikipedia. Second, better computational capacity (often termed “compute”) and compute capability have enabled researchers to build models that were unimaginable merely ten years ago, spanning …

The relationship between reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS-RNS) secretion and the concomitant biocorrosion of degradable magnesium (Mg) materials is poorly understood. We found that Mg foils implanted short term in vivo (24 h) displayed large amounts of proinflammatory F4/80+/iNOS + macrophages at the interface. We sought to investigate the interplay between biodegrading Mg materials (98.6% Mg, AZ31 & AZ61) and macrophages (RAW 264.7) stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (RAW 264.7LPS) to induce ROS-RNS secretion. To test how these proinflammatory ROS-RNS secreting cells interact with Mg corrosion in vitro, Mg and AZ61 discs were suspended approximately 2 mm above a …

Peristaltic Flow For A Mixture Of Blood And Gas Bubbles In The Vertical Inferior Mesenteric Vein, A. A. Elbendary, S. A. Mohammadein, F. A. El Hussiny, S. M. Elkholy, M. S. Ali
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this paper, the viscous blood concentration and gas bubbles flow in the peristaltic vertical inferior mesenteric vein (IMV) are studied. The mass, concentration, and Navier-Stokes equations introduce the mathematical simulation of the current problem in the case of long wavelength and low Reynolds number with an analytical solution. The results introduced that the gradient pressure of a mixture of blood flow with gas bubbles performs larger values than that of blood without gas bubbles. Moreover, the blood concentration, velocity of blood and gas bubbles are very sensitive to the small change in blood density ratio, amplitude ratio, and modified …

Dynamics Of A Stochastic And Deterministic Sviqrs Cholera Epidemic Model, Fikru S. Tessema, Boka K. Bole, Purnachandra R. Koya
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In the present research paper, deterministic and the corresponding stochastic mathematical models describing the dynamics of cholera epidemic are presented by incorporating vaccination. The total population size of the model is divided into five compartments namely Susceptible, Vaccinated, Infected, Quarantined for treatment and Recovered class. Initially, the cholera model is developed, and is determined by a deterministic approach. Since this deterministic approach is not considering either environmental factors or the randomness process of the dynamics, a corresponding stochastic approach has been introduced. The model equations of both deterministic and stochastic cases have been proved to be positive and also bounded. …

On Study Nonlocal Integro Differential Equation Involving The The Caputo-Fabrizio Fractional Derivative And Q-Integral Of The Riemann Liouville Type, Amira Abd-Elall Ibrahim, Afaf A. S. Zaghrout, K. R. Raslan, Khalid K. Ali
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
In this work, the existence and uniqueness of a solution for the integro-differential equation that contains the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative and the q-integral of the Riemann Liouville type will be investigated. The continuous dependence of the solution is studied. The Schauder fixed-point theorem is used to prove the existence of a solution to the addressed equation. In addition, we obtain a numerical solution for the proposed problem using a merge of finite difference with trapezoidal methods and a merge of cubic-b spline with trapezoidal methods. The definition of Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative and Riemann-Liouville q integral will be used. The finite …

Combinatorial designs have properties that make them a significant tool for constructing good error detecting or correcting codes. In this paper, we use the fundamental properties of the incidence matrix of the graph designs (H , G, l ) to construct some efficient error detecting and correcting codes. In this manner, we consider H a regular graph, G a subgraph of H and l ≥ 2 to be an integer number. A (H,G,l) design is a collection of subgraphs G1,G2,··· ,Gb of H with each Gi ≃ G;i ∈ {1,2,···b}, every edge from H appears exactly l times in that …

Peristaltic Transport Of Fractional Jeffrey Fluid In A Nonuniform Channel: Role Of Heat Transfer, H. S. Gafel
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences
This articles goal is to explain how heat transfer affects the peristaltic movement of the fractional Jeffrey fluid over a permeable media in a non-uniform channel. The consequences of fractional viscoelastic properties of the generalized Jeffrey fluid are explored together with the effects of heat transfer, geometric features of the non-uniform channel, and peristaltic flow. There is a visual comparison between the two. By means of the suppositions of a long wavelength, the analytical solutions of the velocity, pressure gradient, and pressure rise are inspected. According to the data, the permeability, Grashof number, wave amplitude, heat source, thermal radiation, and …
