We study the existence of two nonzero solutions for a class of quasilinear Kirchhoff problems. The approach is based on the variational methods. Our nonlinerity is contrast to some previous results is that superlinear growth at infinity.
Mathematical Analysis Of Local And Global Dynamics Of A New Epidemic Model, Sümeyye Çakan
Mathematical Analysis Of Local And Global Dynamics Of A New Epidemic Model, Sümeyye Çakan
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we construct a new $SEIR$ epidemic model reflecting the spread of infectious diseases. After calculating basic reproduction number $% \mathcal{R}_{0}$ by the next generation matrix method, we examine the stability of the model. The model exhibits threshold behavior according to whether the basic reproduction number $\mathcal{R}_{0}$ is greater than unity or not. By using well-known Routh-Hurwitz criteria, we deal with local asymptotic stability of equilibrium points of the model according to $% \mathcal{R}_{0}.$ Also, we present a mathematical analysis for the global dynamics in the equilibrium points of this model using LaSalle's Invariance Principle associated with Lyapunov …

A Sequential Fractional Differential Problem Of Pantograph Type:Existence Uniqueness And Illustrations, Soumia Belarbi, Zoubir Dahmani, Mehmet Zeki̇ Sarikaya
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this study, a new class of sequential fractional differential problems of pantograph type is introduced. New existence and uniqueness criteria for the existence and uniqueness of solutions are discussed. Some existence results using Darbo's fixed point and measure of noncompactness are also studied. At the end, two illustrative examples are discussed.
Elliptical Kinematics Of The Accretive Surface Growth, Zehra Özdemi̇r, Gül Güner
Elliptical Kinematics Of The Accretive Surface Growth, Zehra Özdemi̇r, Gül Güner
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The stresses within the soft tissue are not constant for some shell surfaces. They vary with position along the mantle edge. In this paper, we show that elliptical geometry is more convenient to describe this type of surface. Thus, we introduce the elliptical kinematics along an initial curve and construct some accretive surfaces with an elliptical cross-section. In fact, these surfaces are not only curves with an elliptical cross-sectional curve, but also the material points of the surface follow an elliptical trajectory during their formation. This situation can be easily explained through elliptical motion and elliptical quaternion algebra. Then, we …

Multiplicative Conformable Fractional Dirac System, Sertaç Göktaş, Hi̇kmet Kemaloğlu, Emrah Yilmaz
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In multiplicative fractional calculus, the well-known Dirac system in fractional calculus is redefined. The aim of this study is to analyze some spectral properties such as self-adjointness of the operator, structure of all eigenvalues, orthogonality of distinct eigenfunctions, etc. for this system. Moreover, Green's function in multiplicative case is reconstructed for this system.

On The Inclusion Properties For $\Vartheta $-Spirallike Functions Involving Both Mittag-Leffler And Wright Function, Şahsene Altinkaya
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
By making use of the both Mittag-Leffler and Wright function, we establish a new subfamily of the class $S_{\vartheta }$ of $\vartheta $-spirallike functions. The main object of the paper is to provide sufficient conditions for a function to be in this newly established class and to discuss subordination outcomes.

Rough Approximations Based On Different Topologies Via Ideals, Ayşegül Çaksu Güler, Esra Dalan Yildirim, Oya Özbakir
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we generalize the notations of rough sets based on the topological space. Firstly, we produce various topologies by using the concept of ideal, $C_j$-neighbourhoods and $P_j$-neighbourhoods. When we compare these topologies with previous topologies, we see that these topologies are more general. Then we introduce new methods to find the approximations by using these generated topologies. When we compare these methods with the previous methods, we see that these methods are more accurate.

Study Of The $\Phi$-Generalized Type $K$-Fractional Integrals Or Derivatives And Some Of Their Properties, Mustafa Aydin, Nazim I. Mahmudov
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
A novel fractional integral in the sense of Riemann-Liouville integral and two new fractional derivatives in the sense of Riemann-Liouville derivative and Caputo derivative with respect to another function and two parameters are introduced. Some significant properties of them are presented like semigroup property, inverse property, etc. The solution of the Cauchy-type problem for the nonhomogenous linear differential equation with the $\phi$-generalized Caputo $k$-fractional derivative is given by using the method of successive approximation.

On Hypersemigroups, Niovi Kehayopulu
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This is from the paper "Hypergroupes canoniques values et hypervalues" by J. Mittas in Mathematica Balkanica 1971: "The concept of hypergroup introduced by Fr. MARTY in 1934 [Actes du Congres des Math. Scand. Stocholm 1935, p. 45] is as follows: "A hypergroup is a nonempty set $H$ endowed with a multiplication $xy$ such that, for every $x,y,z\in H,$ the following hold: (1) $xy\subseteq H$; (2) $x(yz)=(xy)z$ and (3) $xH=Hx=H$. The first condition expresses that the multiplication is an hyperoperation on $H$, in other words, the composition of two elements $x,y$ of $H$ is a subset of $H$. It is very …

Analyzing Bifurcation, Stability, And Chaos Control For A Discrete-Time Prey-Predator Model With Allee Effect, Fi̇gen Kangalgi̇l, Ni̇lüfer Topsakal, Ni̇hal Öztürk
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, the qualitative behavior of a discrete-time prey-predator model with Allee effect in prey population is discussed. Firstly, the existence of the fixed points and their topological classification are analyzed algebraically. Then, the conditions of existence for both period-doubling and Neimark--Sacker bifurcations arising from coexistence fixed point with the help of the center manifold theorem and bifurcation theory are investigated. OGY feedback control method is implemented to control chaos in the proposed model due to the emergence of bifurcations. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to support the theoretical findings.

On A Class Of Nonlocal Porous Medium Equations Of Kirchhoff Type, Uğur Sert
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We study the Dirichlet problem for the degenerate parabolic equation of the Kirchhoff type \[ u_{t}-a\left(\ u\ _{L^{p}(\Omega)}^{p}\right)\sum\limits_{i=1}^{n}D_{i}\left( \left\vert u\right\vert ^{p-2}D_{i}u\right) +b\left( x,t,u\right)=f\left( x,t\right) \quad \text{in $Q_T=\Omega \times (0,T)$}, \] where $p\geq2$, $T>0$, $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^{n}$, $n\geq 2$, is a smooth bounded domain. The coefficient $a(\cdot)$ is real-valued function defined on $\mathbb{R}_+$ and $b(\cdot,\cdot,\tau)$ is a measurable function with variable nonlinearity in $\tau$. We prove existence of weak solutions of the considered problem under appropriate and general conditions on $a$ and $b$. Sufficient conditions for uniqueness are found and in the case $f\equiv0$ the decay rates for $\ u\ …

Inverse Nodal Problems For Dirac Type Integro Differential System With A Nonlocal Boundary Condition, Baki̇ Keski̇n
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, the Dirac type integro differential system\ with a nonlocal integral boundary condition is considered. First, we derive the asymptotic expressions for the solutions and large eigenvalues. Second, we provide asymptotic expressions for the nodal points and prove that a dense subset of nodal points uniquely determines the boundary condition parameter and the potential function of the considered differential system. We also provide an effective procedure for solving the inverse nodal problem.

On The Convergence And Stability Analysis Of Finite-Difference Methods For The Fractional Newell-Whitehead-Segel Equations, İnci̇ Çi̇li̇ngi̇r Süngü, Emre Aydin
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this study, standard and non-standard finite-difference methods are proposed for numerical solutions of the time-spatial fractional generalized Newell-Whitehead-Segel equations describing the dynamical behavior near the bifurcation point of the Rayleigh-Benard convection of binary fluid mixtures. The numerical solutions have been found for high values of $p$ which shows the degree of nonlinear terms in the equations. The stability and convergence conditions of the obtained difference schemes are determined for each value of $p$. Errors of methods for various values of $p$ are given in tables. The compatibility of exact solutions and numerical solutions and the effectiveness of the methods …

Maximising The Number Of Connected Induced Subgraphs Of Unicyclic Graphs, Audace A V Dossou Olory
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Denote by $\mathcal{G}(n,c,g,k)$ the set of all connected graphs of order $n$, having $c$ cycles, girth $g$, and $k$ pendant vertices. In this paper, we give a partial characterisation of the structure of those graphs in $\mathcal{G}(n,c,g,k)$ maximising the number of connected induced subgraphs. For the special case where $c=1$, we find a complete characterisation of all maximal unicyclic graphs. We also derive a precise formula for the corresponding maximum number given the following parameters: (1) order, girth, and number of pendant vertices; (2) order and girth; (3) order.

The design or investigation of fluorescence probes continues to receive attention with respect to the diverse applications of spectrofluorometry. Depending on the highly sensitive character, fluorescence spectroscopy-based methodologies have been widely used in recent years in different sciences, including analytical, environmental, and medicinal chemistry areas. In our previous works, we have shown the iron (III) selective on-off sensor properties of benzo[c]chromen-6-one derivatives. In this study, we have extrapolated this research to 4-substituted analogues and investigated both fluorescent and metal interaction properties. Following the synthesis and structure identification studies, (±)-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-3-hydroxy-4-(1-hydroxyethyl)benzo[c]chromen-6-one was found as a fluorescent molecule displaying fluorescence enhancement in the …

Doxorubicin-Induced Transcriptome Meets Interactome: Identification Of New Drug Targets, Hi̇lal Taymaz-Ni̇kerel
Turkish Journal of Biology
The working mechanism of the chemotherapeutic drug doxorubicin, which is frequently used in cancer treatment, its effects on cell metabolism, and pathways activated solely by doxorubicin are not fully known. Understanding these principles is important both in improving existing therapies and in finding new drug targets. Here, I describe a systems-biology approach to find a generalizable working principle for doxorubicin by superimposition of human interactome over gene datasets commonly expressed among various cancer types. The common ?in at least two different diseases?transcriptional response of distinctive cancer cell lines to doxorubicin was reflected via 199 significantly and differentially expressed genes, mostly …
A Role For An Htlv-1 Vaccine?, Lee Ratner
A Role For An Htlv-1 Vaccine?, Lee Ratner
2020-Current year OA Pubs
HTLV-1 is a global infection with 5-20 million infected individuals. Although only a minority of infected individuals develop myelopathy, lymphoproliferative malignancy, or inflammatory disorders, infection is associated with immunosuppression and shorter survival. Transmission of HTLV-1 is through contaminated blood or needles, mother-to-child exposure through breast-feeding, and sexual intercourse. HTLV-1 is a delta retrovirus that expresses immunogenic Gag, Envelope, TAX, and Hbz proteins. Neutralizing antibodies have been identified directed against the surface envelope protein, and cytotoxic T-cell epitopes within TAX have been characterized. Thus far, there have been few investigations of vaccines directed against each of these proteins, with limited responses, …
Using Systems Perspectives To Develop Underlying Principles For Educational Reform, John Daniel Kenny, Connie Cirkony
Using Systems Perspectives To Develop Underlying Principles For Educational Reform, John Daniel Kenny, Connie Cirkony
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
One of the enduring problems in the education system is the gap between theory and practice, where the research to improve teaching and learning is not fully realised in the classroom. This has impacted the effectiveness of education reform. We take a systems thinking approach to better understand the complexity of an education system, which involves multiple stakeholders, each with different levels of power, purposes, and perspectives about what is important. Drawing on an extensive body of research we propose a set of six foundational and five enabling principles that support systemic educational reform. These 11 principles are put forward …

Australian Teachers’ Perceptions And Experiences Of Food And Nutrition Education In Primary Schools: A Qualitative Study, Gozde Aydin, Claire Margerison, Anthony Worsley, Alison Booth
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
Teacher delivered food and nutrition education (FNE) can be effective in improving children’s food literacy and eating habits. However, teachers are known to face some barriers to the delivery of FNE globally. To obtain a deeper understanding of Australian primary school teachers’ experiences and views, 17 teachers were interviewed. The results of the thematic analysis showed that teachers acknowledged the importance of FNE and were willing to include more FNE content into their teaching. We also identified the FNE topics taught, resources used, their teaching partners, and barriers encountered. The discussion presents strategies to overcome these barriers.

In what ways is nature play evidenced in early childhood initial teacher education programs in Australia? The findings highlight potential discrepancies between the …
Early Childhood Teachers’ Perceptions Of Environmental Sustainability: A Phenomenographic Investigation, Jane Spiteri
Early Childhood Teachers’ Perceptions Of Environmental Sustainability: A Phenomenographic Investigation, Jane Spiteri
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
Early childhood teachers’ environmental perceptions can influence young children’s learning about environmental issues. Yet, to date, there is minimal research focusing on the perceptions of environmental sustainability held by early childhood teachers. This qualitative phenomenographic study collected data via individual semi-structured interviews with five early childhood teachers and one head teacher, in Malta. Preliminary findings revealed that the participants perceived environmental sustainability in terms of environmental concerns; environmental responsibility; and environmental protection. A mismatch between the participants’ environmental concerns and their pro-environmental behaviour emerged. The data also show that any environmental activities at school were done so uncritically. These findings …

Collaborative And Traditional Practice-Models As Perceived By Preservice Teachers: The Potential Impact Of Culture, Ilana Klima Ronen, Alexandra Danial-Saad, Rachel Holsblat
Australian Journal of Teacher Education
A differential cultural aspect manifested when we compared the experiences of 96-Jewish and 107-Arab PSTs who participated in a collaborative academy-class-practice- model (ACPM), or a traditional-practice-model (TPM). The attempt to implement the collaborative ACPM was hesitantly accepted by Jewish-PSTs, whereas the Arab-PSTs welcomed it warmly. This led us to question whether culture played a role in the groups’ perceptions of the ACPM\TPM. A mixed methods questionnaire has been used to examine PSTs` pedagogical knowledge, the perceived benefits they gained during the practicum, and the importance they attributed to the advice of staff members and peers. Although the PSTs from both …
