The Influence Of Psychological Safety On Leadership Attitudes And Beliefs In College Students, Ján Koperniech

Graduate Theses/Dissertations

The goal of the present study is to examine whether there is a link between experiences of psychological safety and certain beliefs and attitudes college students have about organizational leadership. While the locus of most of the research on psychological safety is the workplace, this study examines the effects of psychological safety in three environments: home, school, and work. One-hundred and ninety-nine psychology students reported their experiences and attitudes by completing an online survey. The results showed no significant relationship between psychological safety and systemic and hierarchical beliefs about leadership. The findings, as well as recommendations for future research, are …

A Review Of The Impact Of Authentic Assessment On The Student Experience & Engagement In An Online Regulatory Environment Module., Amanda Dixon

Irish Journal of Academic Practice

The COVID 19 pandemic triggered the move to online teaching which prompted a redesign of the Regulatory Environment module in the Sports Management and Coaching programme, TU Dublin. The module redesign focused on replacing the traditional invigilated exam with authentic assessment. The aim of the redesign was to improve the student experience and engagement.

Authentic assessment immersed the student in the learning experience and they became enthusiastic self-directed learners. It imposed a real life dimension to the regulatory environment module content which is entirely theoretical in nature.

An online focus group was conducted with the regulatory environment students. The research …

Grounded in identity theory, the purpose of this article was to examine the …

Soul-Training: The Why, What, And How Of Spiritual Formation In Sports, Elizabeth Bounds

Movement and Being: The Journal of the Christian Society for Kinesiology, Leisure and Sports Studies

Sportspeople know how to train and prepare their bodies for competition. The question this article seeks to explore is how sportspeople should approach training and preparing their souls. The Willardian corpus provides sportspeople a framework for understanding spiritual formation. This article examines the “why,” “what,” and “how” of soul-training, how Christians in sports can engage in spiritual formation. Sportspeople train their souls to experience God’s presence and worship him on and off the competition stage (why). In order to do so, they train their souls by following Christ as his apprentices, leading to transformation into his likeness (what) by cooperating …

Sporting Faith: Exploring Displays Of Faith As Part Of Christian Higher Education Athletic Program Identity, Laci Mcree, Jason W. Lee, Dawn Tolbert

Movement and Being: The Journal of the Christian Society for Kinesiology, Leisure and Sports Studies

Contemporary higher education is made of a marketplace where institutions aggressively market themselves to student consumers who “shop” for school options (Tolbert, 2014). This study examines the marketing of faith-based higher education institutions’ athletic programs to determine how faith-related missions are revealed on institutional websites. Higher education institutions analyzed in this study consisted of 112 of the 141 member institutions that are members of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), which compete in sanctioned intercollegiate athletics programs (e.g., NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA). The study attempted to quantify how strongly a university’s athletic program portrays the faith dimension of the …

Professional Development And Faith Integration In Sport Management Education, Jason W. Lee, Jennifer J. Kane, Jeffrey P. Briggs

Movement and Being: The Journal of the Christian Society for Kinesiology, Leisure and Sports Studies

Professional development is a critical component of academia and should support the institution’s vision, mission, and organizational goals (Lee & Briggs, 2020; 2021). The amount and type of professional development should be congruent with institutional expectations (COSMA, 2016), according to how faculty are to be evaluated, tenured, and promoted. When emphasizing professional development that integrates one’s faith, there are unique prospects to embody a Christian ethos. Hence, this article concentrates on professional development opportunities at faith-based institutions, notably Christian faculty members in the academic disciplines of Christian Society for Kinesiology, Leisure & Sport Studies (CSKLS). Using the specific emphasis on …

Components Affecting Volunteer Satisfaction Within The Ladies Professional Golf Association, Jacob Hollman Jan 2022

Components Affecting Volunteer Satisfaction Within The Ladies Professional Golf Association, Jacob Hollman

Master of Education in Applied Human Development Graduate Projects

Sport events are increasingly reliant on volunteers for the successful delivery of an event (Pauline, 2011). As the sport industry continues to grow so has the demands for volunteer operations. One must understand the points of satisfaction for volunteers as well as factors influencing their future intentions to volunteer. There has been substantial research on spectator satisfaction and motivation, but antecedents of volunteer satisfaction as well as intent to remain has been limited. Spectator satisfaction is described as, “expectations and perceptions about a service experience” (McDonald et al., 2018, p. 156). Spectator or fan satisfaction has been associated with numerous …
