Perceived Impact Of Contemporary Library Technology On Academic Performance Of Distance Education Undergraduates Of Universities In Nigeria, Lucynda Uzoamaka Koledoye Ph.D, Justina Ngozi Igwe Ph.D

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The study looked at the impact of library technology on the academic performance of Nigerian university distance education undergraduates. A descriptive survey design was used in this investigation. The study was based on two research topics. The survey included 698 participants from Nigeria's recognized universities. Because the study's population size can be controlled, there was no need for sampling. The data collection instrument was a 39-item structured questionnaire produced by the researchers titled: Library technology on Academic Performance of Distance Education Questionnaire (TAPDEQ). Three specialists from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka's Faculty of Education verified the instrument. The instrument's internal …

Inclusion Of Children With Disabilities In Qualitative Health Research: A Scoping Review, Janet Njelesani, Vongai Mlambo, Tsedenia Denekew, Jean Hunleth Jan 2022

Inclusion Of Children With Disabilities In Qualitative Health Research: A Scoping Review, Janet Njelesani, Vongai Mlambo, Tsedenia Denekew, Jean Hunleth

2020-Current year OA Pubs

BACKGROUND: Children with disabilities have the right to participate in health research so their priorities, needs, and experiences are included. Health research based primarily on adult report risks misrepresenting children with disabilities and their needs, and contributes to exclusion and a lack of diversity in the experiences being captured. Prioritizing the participation of children with disabilities enhances the relevance, meaningfulness, and impact of research.

METHODS: A scoping review was conducted to critically examine the participation of children with disabilities in qualitative health research. The electronic databases PubMed, PsychInfo, Embase, and Google Scholar were searched. Inclusion criteria included qualitative health studies …

Predicting At-Risk Opioid Use Three Months After Ed Visit For Trauma: Results From The Aurora Study, Brittany E. Punches, Stacey L. House, Et Al Jan 2022

Predicting At-Risk Opioid Use Three Months After Ed Visit For Trauma: Results From The Aurora Study, Brittany E. Punches, Stacey L. House, Et Al

2020-Current year OA Pubs

OBJECTIVE: Whether short-term, low-potency opioid prescriptions for acute pain lead to future at-risk opioid use remains controversial and inadequately characterized. Our objective was to measure the association between emergency department (ED) opioid analgesic exposure after a physical, trauma-related event and subsequent opioid use. We hypothesized ED opioid analgesic exposure is associated with subsequent at-risk opioid use.

METHODS: Participants were enrolled in AURORA, a prospective cohort study of adult patients in 29 U.S., urban EDs receiving care for a traumatic event. Exclusion criteria were hospital admission, persons reporting any non-medical opioid use (e.g., opioids without prescription or taking more than prescribed …

Lending A Paw: Does The Presence Of A Dog Increase Donations Given To Homeless Individuals?, Katherine Link

With a rise in both homelessness and dog ownership, this project sought to investigate how the presence of a dog may impact both the willingness to donate and monetary amount donated to a homeless individual. Results indicated a significant three-way interaction between the sex of the homeless individual, the sex of the participant, and the presence of a dog. Overall, the presence of a …

Trends In Student Attrition At An Urban Community College In The Southeast Region, Shirley Hardy Jan 2022

Trends In Student Attrition At An Urban Community College In The Southeast Region, Shirley Hardy

Murray State Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to investigate the understudied reasons for attrition among urban community college students by way of Satisfactory Academic Program (SAP) appeals. The researcher used a qualitative methodology to understand the challenges associated with the mitigating circumstances attributed to academic attrition resulting in SAP appeals. The foundation for this study was laid by two renowned student departure theories: conceptual model of nontraditional student attrition (Bean & Metzner, 1985) and theory of student persistence in commuter colleges and universities (Braxton et al., 2014). The researcher sought to gain further knowledge to identify environmental factors that cause nontraditional …
