Exploring Nurse Leader Self-Efficacy, Burnout, And Intent To Leave, Donna Donova Johnson
Exploring Nurse Leader Self-Efficacy, Burnout, And Intent To Leave, Donna Donova Johnson
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Nurse leader turnover is an emerging issue in healthcare services. Considerable research has been done over the last decade revealing that nurse leaders are experiencing an increased rate of burnout with an intent to leave their jobs. Less research has been done to understand how to mitigate the rate of nurse leader burnout and retain nurse leaders in the workforce. Higher levels of self-efficacy have mediated the effects of work stress on job burnout in other service related fields. The purpose of this quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was to explore the possible mediating effect of leader self-efficacy between burnout and …

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
A high-quality, foundational education offers lifelong benefits for young children. The problem is that working memory in pre-school-aged children is declining and could be impaired by the extraneous cognitive load imposed during engagement with screen media apps and/or preschool programs. Although the pedagogical practices associated with Montessori preschool programs have been found supportive of cognitive load germane to learning and improved working memory, they have not been fully considered in relation to preschoolers' screen media use. The cognitive load created by screen media apps could affect their usefulness as learning tools. The purpose of this quantitative study was to discover …

Relationship Of Mindfulness To Worldview Defense When Mortality Is Salient, Blake Ausmus
Relationship Of Mindfulness To Worldview Defense When Mortality Is Salient, Blake Ausmus
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Humans value self-preservation, and therefore that which is perceived to threaten survival should cause stress. However, humans have also developed the understanding of their own mortality, meaning that they cognitively understand that death is inevitable. The conflict arising from these opposing constructs holds the potential to cause anxiety. Interestingly, this anxiety is not easily observed in most. Terror management theory posits that there are buffer systems in place that help to keep death anxiety at bay so that humans are able to continue to function in their daily lives. These buffers include becoming more stringent to one’s worldviews and less …
