Synthesis Of Novel Nio/Comn2o4 Heterostructured Nanoparticles And The Effects Of Variable Size And Metal Concentrations On Their Magnetic And Surface Chemical Properties, Farhan Ishrak
Graduate Theses/Dissertations
I studied the effect of core size and metal concentration on the structural, morphological, and magnetic properties of NiO-based magnetic heterostructured nanocrystals (HNCs) generated hydrothermally. The NiO nanocrystals were created by a thermal decomposition technique, while the surrounding Mn and Co-based phases were created through a hydrothermal procedure, with core diameters ranging from 9.31 nm to 24.51 nm and total metal concentrations of 0.05 M and 0.08 M. The resulting inverted AFM-FiM NiO/CoMn2O4 bimagnetic systems make up the heterostructured nanocrystals. The magnetic HNCs were thoroughly characterized using XRD, SEM-EDX, TEM, PPMS magnetometry, and XPS analysis. Investigations into the structure of …

Public Perceptions Of Human Physical Interactions, Exhibition, And Conservation Of Tigers And Cheetahs, Abbie Knudsen
Graduate Theses/Dissertations
Tigers and cheetahs are common in the pet trade, public exhibits, and hands-on encounters with the public. Poor regulation of these experiences has resulted in numerous incidents worldwide in which a person was seriously injured or killed by captive big cats. Additionally, concerns for animal welfare have been raised by industry professionals. Prior research on primates has demonstrated exposing people to photographs of cats in different backgrounds can influence their attitudes about animals in captivity, but no study has addressed whether visual images affect human attitudes toward big cats. I used a survey that asked a series of questions about …
Us Strategic Culture, Homeland Ballistic Missile Defense, And Mutual Vulnerability, Jacob T. Blank
Us Strategic Culture, Homeland Ballistic Missile Defense, And Mutual Vulnerability, Jacob T. Blank
Graduate Theses/Dissertations
Strategic scholars have long understood the indispensable linkage between culture and security policymaking. By shaping the perceptions through which decision-makers formulate security policy, strategic culture analysis adds vital context to the perilously difficult science of understanding and predicting state security outputs. One area where this analytical framework fails to generate the expected result is American missile defense policy. Salient themes of US strategic culture, including an optimistic and problem-solving mindset, positive role of machines, and ahistorical exceptionalism, are reflected in the American way of war – a technologically driven, leadership casualty averse, moralistic, apolitical, and firepower focused enterprise. These factors …

Comparison Of International Classification Of Orofacial Pain (Icop) And Diagnostic Criteria For Temporomandibular Disorders (Dc/Tmd) Algorithms For Diagnosing Myofascial Orofacial Pain, Thi Thu Hang Phung
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The International Classification of Orofacial Pain (ICOP) is a new classification system for orofacial pains, which was published in February 2020. However, this clinical diagnostic criteria has not been validated or tested to be reliable for diagnosing myofascial orofacial pain (MOP). This study aimed to determine whether the ICOP diagnostic algorithm can effectively identify MOP when compared with the gold standard, Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) algorithm. This retrospective cross-sectional study constructed the diagnostic algorithm from the ICOP and the DC/TMD criteria. The clinical data of MOP patients was extracted from clinical charts in the Occlusion and Orofacial Pain …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Background and rationale: Tongue strengthening exercise (TSE) is a program to re-educate the neuromuscular pattern of the tongue muscle to improve tongue posture and swallowing function. Various TSEs have been introduced. However, most studies have been conducted on TSEs focusing on instruments such as tongue blade, Iowa oral performance instrument (IOPI) and JMS tongue pressure measuring device. Only a few have focused on self-tongue strengthening exercises, which has yet to show which method is the best for improving tongue strength, endurance, and movement. Objective: This study aimed to investigate tongue-strengthening exercise methods that had the most significant impact on increasing …

Study On The Stimulation Condition Of Friedelin And Epifriedelanol Production In Cultured-Hairy Roots Of Hemp, Khwanlada Kobtrakul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Cannabis root has been used as traditional medicines for a long time but root part has so far received less attention. Two triterpenoids, including friedelin and epifriedelanol, have been mainly found in cannabis root and they showed the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Although the root has a long history of medical use, it was overlooked. Also, it could be contaminated from the soil. Thus, it is important to find the alternative way to solve these issues. In this study, hairy root (HR) was induced and investigated the potential enhancement of four elicitors containing salicylic acid, methyl jasmonate, chitosan, and yeast …

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has adversely affected global health due to high spreading and virulence. Moreover, the emergence of new variants found in multiple countries has been a major concern recently. Although many effective vaccines have been authorized and launched, emerged new variants require us to continuously develop new vaccines. However, the hard-working for new vaccine development is how to deliver consistent quality to the market. Therefore, this study aims to apply Quality by Design (QbD) methodologies to the upstream process of the SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain fused Fc part …

Formulation And Optimization Of Metformin And Curcumin Co-Loaded Chitosan-Alginate Nanoparticles For Improved Therapeutic Efficacy Against Pain, Dasuni Wasana Peththa Wadu
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The present study introduces the synergistic analgesic potential of curcumin (Cur) and metformin (Met), encapsulated within the chitosan-alginate nanoparticle (CTS/ALG-NP) delivery system. The aim is to improve the therapeutic efficacy of this combination without potentiating its side effects. The primary objectives were to gauge the therapeutic potency of Cur and Met, improve their delivery using CTS/ALG-NPs, and ascertain the possible toxicity of these nanoparticles. A combination of in vitro and in vivo studies on LPS-induced RAW 264.7 macrophage and BV-2 microglia cells, alongside a mouse model of formalin-induced pain, formed our methodological approach. Results confirmed our hypothesis, revealing the enhanced …
