Biotransformation And Biodefluorination Of Fluorotelomer Carboxylic Acids, Chen Wu
Biotransformation And Biodefluorination Of Fluorotelomer Carboxylic Acids, Chen Wu
Dissertations
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), a class of emerging contaminants of concern, have attacked unprecedented attention given their prevalent detection and adverse health effects. Primary regulatory attention has been focused on PFOA, PFOS, and other perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs). Recent investigations revealed that fluorotelomer carboxylic acid (FTCAs), particularly 5:3 FTCA and 6:2 FTCA, were dominant in landfill leachates and other environmental matrixes. FTCAs are also found as common intermediates during the biotransformation of PFAA precursors. Unfortunately, FTCAs have higher bioaccumulating potential and are at least two orders more toxic than their corresponding PFCAs. However, information regarding the potentials and mechanisms of …

Baku Mathematical Journal
An elastic medium is considered, weakened by a doubly periodic system of round holes, filled with absolutely rigid inclusions, soldered along the bypass and has a crack initiation. The medium (binder) is weakened by two periodic systems of rectilinear crack initiation directed collinear to the abscissa and ordinate axes, and their sizes are not the same. General representations are constructed that describe a class of problems with a doubly periodic stress distribution outside circular holes and cracks under transverse shear. The analysis of the limiting equilibrium of cracks in the framework of the end zone model is carried out on …

Teachers' Perspectives On Translanguaging As A Pedagogical Resource In Senior High School English Classes, Karen Lynn G. Macawile, Sterling M. Plata
Teachers' Perspectives On Translanguaging As A Pedagogical Resource In Senior High School English Classes, Karen Lynn G. Macawile, Sterling M. Plata
Journal of English and Applied Linguistics
Translanguaging has been documented in previous research as a pedagogical resource in language classrooms. However, the monolinguistic culture prevents the leveraging of this resource in language learning. In addition, despite the extensive research on translanguaging, its use as a pedagogical resource is limited, particularly in the Philippine context. This study explores teachers’ perspectives on translanguaging in Senior High School subjects where English is the medium of instruction. Findings from focus group discussions reveal that the participants leverage translanguaging as a resource to help students in knowledge construction, meaning-making, and problem-solving. This study concludes with implications for policymakers and language teachers …
