Virtual Procedural Facilitator Training With Video Modeling: Impact On The Opinion Writing Of Elementary School- Aged Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder, Susanna M. Launder

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) impacts one in every 44 children in the United States (CDC, 2022) and is characterized by marked deficits in social communication with the presence of restricted interests and repetitive behaviors. Students with ASD are increasingly being educated in the general education classroom and are expected to meet the curricular demands thereof (Roberts & Webster, 2020). Due to the core features of their disability, these students often experience significant challenges in written expression. Writing, across content areas, is a primary means in which student learning is measured and evaluated. The COVID-19 pandemic forced educators to explore the …

Wall Pressure Fluctuation In A Turbulent Channel Flow, Lyubov Denissova Jan 2022

Wall Pressure Fluctuation In A Turbulent Channel Flow, Lyubov Denissova

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Turbulent flow is a complex three dimensional system of velocity and pressure fluctuations in a fluid that creates vorticity, eddies and other flow structures. In this study we are specifically concerned with the surface pressure fluctuations below a turbulent boundary layer which is one of the primary sources of panel vibration on aircraft fuselages and ship hulls as well a major issue in ship hydrodynamics. The most accepted analytical approaches to describe the surface pressure fluctuations are the Chase model [1] for the surface pressure wavenumber spectrum and Goody’s model [2] for the pressure spectrum at a point. The most …

Impact Of Heart Failure Education Program On Haitian Older Adults With Heart Failure, Farah Cesar

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Heart failure (HF) is a clinical syndrome with various manifestations (Groenewegen, Rutten, Mosterd, & Hoes, 2020). However, self-care for patients with complex illnesses, such as HF, can be very challenging. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] (2020) reported that an estimated 6.2 million adults in the United States had HF. It is generally estimated that between 1% and 2% of adults in developed countries have HF (Groenewegen et al., 2020). Although important advances in managing HF were made before approximately 1990, improvements have been significant since that time (Choi et al., 2019). However, some patients with HF still …

Prenatal Depression Screening In African American Women To Initiate Early Referral And Treatment, Sabrina Etienne

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Aim: In the United States, prenatal depression is an underdiagnosed mental health disorder that can result in complications for the mother and fetus. Approximately 7 to 12 % women are affected by prenatal depression (Sidebottom et al., 2021). African American women experience more stressors during the prenatal period which places them at a higher risk for depression than other racial groups (Liu et al., 2016). Early screening can help identify and treat prenatal depression which may reduce the risk of postpartum depression. The purpose of this quality improvement project (QI) was to screen African American pregnant women, using the Edinburgh …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Heart failure (HF) is a global epidemic that affects older populations at an unprecedented rate. It is one of the leading causes of hospital readmission in patients 65 years and older. Although many strategies have been used to properly manage the disease, HF remains a complex condition due to several factors such as disease progression, comorbidities, inadequate patient knowledge, and non-adherence to the treatment plan. Despite the impact of HF on quality of life, morbidity, and mortality in older adults, they have been markedly underrepresented in most major cardiovascular trials. Besides the use of traditional methods for HF management, studies …
