The Effect Of Clonidine On Hyperbaric Bupivacaine And Opioid In Cesarean Section Women Under Spinal Anesthesia, Novisi Abba Jan 2022

The Effect Of Clonidine On Hyperbaric Bupivacaine And Opioid In Cesarean Section Women Under Spinal Anesthesia, Novisi Abba

Nurse Anesthesia MSNA Student Capstones

Pain is undoubtedly one of the most undesirable outcomes associated with cesarean section in parturients. The most effective post-cesarean section pain relief option should prioritize maternal, fetal, and neonatal safety, with minimal to no medication transfer to the fetus and neonate. In obstetric anesthesia, neuraxial approaches, with the inclusion of adjuncts like clonidine for pain management may provide some additional benefits. Consequently, obstetric anesthesia practitioners have increasingly used intrathecal clonidine to alleviate post-cesarean section pain. This manuscript examines whether intrathecal clonidine, when combined with hyperbaric bupivacaine and/or opioids (fentanyl and/or preservative-free morphine), has a sustained analgesic effect in parturients following …

Developments And Industrial Applications Of Basalt Fibre Reinforced Composite Materials, Indraneel R. Chowdhury, Richard Pemberton, John Summerscales Jan 2022

Developments And Industrial Applications Of Basalt Fibre Reinforced Composite Materials, Indraneel R. Chowdhury, Richard Pemberton, John Summerscales

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Basalt mineral fibre, made directly from basalt rock, has good mechanical behavior, superior thermal stability, better chemical durability, good moisture resistance and can easily be recycled when compared to E-glass fibres (borosilicate glass is called ‘E-glass’ or ‘electric al-grade glass’ because of its high electrical resistance) which are traditionally used in structural composites for industrial applications. Industrial adoption of basalt fibre reinforced composites (FRC) is still very low mainly due to inadequate data and lower production volumes leading to higher cost. These reasons constrain the composites industry from seriously considering basalt as a potential alternative to conventional (e.g., E-glass) fibre …

Human Affinity For Rivers, Yichu Wang, Alistair G.L. Borthwick, Jinren Ni Jan 2022

Human Affinity For Rivers, Yichu Wang, Alistair G.L. Borthwick, Jinren Ni

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Human civilization prospers along rivers worldwide. Here, we investigated human–river relations by revealing the linkage between water and habitability for human settlements, and socioeconomic and cultural development across China. We found that human–water co-occurrence relationships are self-similar over sub-basins for different scales of stream-order in the river networks. According to the earlier complete demographic census conducted during the reign of the Qing Dynasty (1776), there has been a general tendency for inhabitants to live close to rivers, characterized by population density associated with habitability cored by water under a near-natural state, which still remains to date (2019) even after long-term …

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had a significant impact worldwide, particularly in middle- and low-income countries. While this impact has been well-recognized in certain age groups, the effects, both direct and indirect, on the neonatal population remain largely unknown. There are placental changes associated, though the contributions to maternal and fetal illness have not been fully determined. The rate of premature delivery has increased and SARS-CoV-2 infection is proportionately higher in premature neonates, which appears to be related to premature delivery for maternal reasons rather than an increase in spontaneous preterm labor. There is much room for expansion, including long-term data …

The gray short-tailed opossum (Monodelphis domestica) is an established laboratory-bred marsupial model for biomedical research. It is a critical species for comparative genomics research, providing the pivotal phylogenetic outgroup for studies of derived vs ancestral states of genomic/epigenomic characteristics for eutherian mammal lineages. To characterize the current genetic profile of this laboratory marsupial, we examined 79 individuals from eight established laboratory strains. Double digest restriction site-associated DNA sequencing and whole-genome resequencing experiments were performed to investigate the genetic architecture in these strains. A total of 66,640 highquality single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified. We analyzed SNP density, average heterozygosity, nucleotide …

Background: Sex differences in incidence and/or presentation of schizophrenia (SCZ), major depressive disorder (MDD), and bipolar disorder (BIP) are pervasive. Previous evidence for shared genetic risk and sex differences in brain abnormalities across disorders suggest possible shared sex-dependent genetic risk. Methods: We conducted the largest to date genome-wide genotype-by-sex (G×S) interaction of risk for these disorders using 85,735 cases (33,403 SCZ, 19,924 BIP, and 32,408 MDD) and 109,946 controls from the PGC (Psychiatric Genomics Consortium) and iPSYCH. Results: Across disorders, genome-wide significant single nucleotide polymorphism–by-sex interaction was detected for a locus encompassing NKAIN2 (rs117780815, p = 3.2 × 10−8 …

Biblical Anthropology: Foundations And Teaching Models, Hebert Davi Liessi, Lucicleide Maria Da Silva Liessi

All Books

Human beings have searched for meaning in different ways over the millennia. This book presents how God sees the human being from a biblical-grammatical perspective through the book of Exodus. The sense of existence has new sources, with God and his purpose for each individual and humanity being the main ones. In addition, this book analyses and offers possibilities and models for teaching biblical anthropology to university students.

Spirituality And Prayer: Biblical Foundations And Models For Current Dilemmas, Hebert Davi Liessi, Lucicleide Maria Da Silva Liessi

All Books

Every human being seeks to be happy. However, it faces several challenges in this process. These challenges are considered as deserts that each person goes through on the journey of life. Spirituality and prayer are practices that go together and are used by many religions to help human beings live with more satisfaction and find themselves and God. This book brings biblical reflections to deepen the journey of intimacy with God. In addition, it seeks to systematize the pillars of prayer from the perspective of biblical spirituality and apply them to improving personal and spiritual life.

How War Changed Rondo (2021) By Romana Romanyshyn And Andriy Lesiv, Maughn Rollins Gregory Jan 2022

How War Changed Rondo (2021) By Romana Romanyshyn And Andriy Lesiv, Maughn Rollins Gregory

Picture Books

In this evocative picture book, ‘War’ is a proper name, referring not to an event but to a malevolent being, depicted as a gigantic, shape-shifting amalgamation of buildings, war machines, and a mechanical human arm from which emerge tanks with eyes and jagged mouths, mosquito-like helicopters, and other “terrible clinking and hissing machines.” Nor does War seem to have any goal or intention other than indiscriminate destruction. These images raise a number of important questions about the nature of large- and small-scale violence. Who-all is responsible? If war requires the participation of many people, how does that happen? Have you …
