Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences
We adduce this case of a very rare intraspinal tumor, an intramedullary epidermoid cyst in a male child of a 3 yearold, which is also a rare age presentation. This tumor was diagnosed through spine magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) examination. The child presented with spastic paraparesis of about three months’ duration. The child was set for spine computed tomographic(CT) scan examination (prior to the MRI study) that failed to detect the lesion well, leading to delay of correct management. MRI should be carried out directly as the investigation of first choice whenever spinal lesion questionable in non-informative CT scan study. In …

A Chebyshev Spectral Collocation Method For Solving Kdv-Burgers Equation, Mubarak Awadh Assabaai
Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences
A mixed spectral/ Runge-Kutta method is used to obtain numerical solutions of Kortewege–de Vries–Burgers’ (KdVB) equation. The suggested method based on Chebyshev spectral collocation is used with Runge-Kutta method of order four. This technique is accomplished by starting with a Chebyshev approximation for the higher order derivatives in the x -direction and generating approximations to the lower derivatives through successive integrations of the highest-order derivative. The proposed technique reduces the problem to a system of ordinary differential equations in the t -direction. The Runge-Kutta method of order four is used to solve this system. Excellent numerical results have been obtained …

Some Optical Properties Of (Znte) Thin Films Prepared By Thermal Evaporation Technique On A Glass Substrate, Abdulla Saeed Ba-Sabiah, Mohamed Ali Seyam
Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences
Thin films of Zinc telluride (ZnTe)were deposited by thermal evaporation technique on a glass substrate. The optical obtained data were analyzed using a numerical analysis program which showed that the transition mechanism involved indirectly allows transition since the best line dependence is obtained from a plot of 0.5 ( ) h versus photon energy ( ) h . The bandgap decreased from 1.15 to 0.96 eV as the substrate temperature varied from 410 to 510 K. Such behaviour is attributed to unsaturated defects, which are confirmed by XRD examinations. The Role Of African Proverbs In Advancing Information Systems Research, Tiko Iyamu
The Role Of African Proverbs In Advancing Information Systems Research, Tiko Iyamu
The African Journal of Information Systems
Despite the richness of African proverbs, they have been muted in information systems (IS) research. This explicitly contributes to the lag in developing information systems and technology solutions for African people by African researchers in African terms. It is on this basis that two related objectives were formulated: (1) to examine the role which African proverbs can play in further advancing IS research, and (2) to understand how the concept can be employed to indigenize IS research. Qualitative data were collected from different sources, and the dimension of social change from structuration theory was employed to examine the role African …

Government Workspace Digitalization And Socioeconomic Development Outcomes In Ghana, Winfred Ofoe Larkotey, John Effah, Richard Boateng
The African Journal of Information Systems
The study sought to understand how the structurational environment shapes socioeconomic outcomes of government workspace digitalization in Ghana based on a qualitative, interpretive case study and the structurational model of technology as a theoretical lens. The findings show how the availability of electronic transactions law, government borrowing, and extendable system design can positively influence socioeconomic outcomes of government workspace digitalization. However, use of multiple system development environments, bureaucracy, a within-country digital divide, and a persistent physical signature and letterhead culture can negatively influence the socioeconomic development goals of government workspace digitalization.
Integrating Social Justice Theory Into Engineering Practice, Letitia Thomas
Integrating Social Justice Theory Into Engineering Practice, Letitia Thomas
Baldy Center Blog
Engineering education has historically been limited in developing students’ awareness of social justice issues, even though research tells us that students who are underrepresented (by class, race, gender, etc.) can be empowered and retained when participating in social justice projects related to engineering (Lucena & Leydens, 2015; Mejia, 2017). My goal is to integrate social justice theory into engineering practice, to empower UB students to make a lasting, collective impact in their community. I want students to study and learn social justice themes while becoming more socially and critically conscious about their own influence, as creators of technology.
