Accounting conservatism is a fundamental qualitative characteristic of financial statements. For centuries, it has had a significant impact on accounting practices. The goal of this study is to investigate the attributes of firms and countries, as well as their relative importance in influencing the level of unconditional conservatism. The data for Hierarchical Linear Modeling was collected from a sample of 5470 publicly traded firms from 55 countries between 2017 and 2019. The results reveal that country differences explain approximately 31 percent of the variance in the level of unconditional conservatism. In the autobiographical illustrated novel Fun Home, Alison Bechdel uses various art styles and comic techniques to examine her father’s life as a closeted gay man and his tragic suicide, as well as her own childhood and experience with homosexuality. This thesis explores how Bechdel uses the medium of the graphic novel to showcase different visual perspectives and ways of bearing witness to the past, memory, trauma, and interpersonal relationships, showing how they converge to create the story of how one generation’s model of queer identity can impact and shape the next. We report a quasi T-channel electrokinetics-based micromixer with electrically conductive sidewalls, where the electric field is in the transverse direction of the flow and parallel to the conductivity gradient at the interface between two fluids to be mixed. Mixing results are first compared with another widely studied micromixer configuration, where electrodes are located at the inlet and outlet of the channel with electric field parallel to bulk flow direction but orthogonal to the conductivity gradient at the interface between the two fluids to be mixed. Comparative studies of the thickness of coatings of such metals as Cu, Ag, Cr, Co, and also Mn4 Si7 on polished substrates made of Si, Si O2 / Si structure, ST - 50 glass ceramic, mica were carried out. The coatings were deposited in vacuum using thermal evaporation and magnetron sputtering. The thickness and uniformity of deposited coatings on rotating substrates are estimated by optical measurements and computer simulation. Droplet-on-demand (DOD) generation is a widely studied phenomenon with useful applications across many fields in engineering. While some devices incorporate thermal or electrical aspects to induce droplet ejection, this report details the use of ultrasonic waves emitted by a piezoelectric transducer. An existing experimental setup to eject and visualize droplets was modified to incorporate phase change materials, such as wax. Simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics indicated a desired frequency range of 120 kHz to 140 kHz for a liquid layer height of 4 mm to 12 mm. However, ejection ultimately occurred briefly at an operating frequency of 178 kHz. The ejected …

Atmospheric river (AR) takes a significant role in transporting warm moisture into the Arctic, which could further enhance the Arctic Amplification. This project aims to examine the surface conditions during selected cases of AR events that are detected by climate time series of Arctic AR index. Mono-level variables related to temperature, pressure, heat fluxes and wind speed of fourteen AR events were analyzed using the MERRA-2 derived Arctic AR index, and results were compared with the detected AR basins. Past studies on shedding propensity evaluated palmar skin (washed and unwashed) deposits. This study compared different skin locations with respect to shedding propensity, and explored the potential of tape-lifts as a skin surface collection method. Purpose: Worldwide, Ecuador is one of the countries with the most entrepreneurial activity from micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). However, the effect of adopting the US dollar (dollarization), over which the central bank has no control, combined with being mainly an exporter of primary products, as well as strategic currency devaluation by neighboring economies, has created a difficult situation, especially for Ecuadorian women’s MSMEs.
